Dave erged from the laboratory, it was dayti, and he was sure Ella and Sun must have been awake by now, but he had sowhere else he needed to be before heading back, so he sent one of his hybrid to check up on them and also deliver a certain ssage to them.
He told the hybrid to inform them that he’ll be back soon, that they should stay calm and not go anywhere. As for Eric, he told the hybrid to tell him to also wait for him, once he’s back from where he went to the previous day.
The bright sunlight continued to shine in the sky as he stepped into the mini forest surrounding the rger faction’s factory. The trees cast long shadows across the ground, and the air was thick with the scent of smoke and ash.
As he approached the factory, Dave spotted Jackie standing outside, overseeing a group of faction mbers as they piled the bodies of the masked n onto a makeshift pyre.
The flas crackled and spat, casting flickering shadows on the surrounding trees as the bodies began to burn. Jackie looked up, his eyes locking onto Dave’s as he approached. A hint of a smile played on his lips as he strode towards Dave, his hand extended in greeting.
"Welco back leader," Jackie said with a warm voice. "It’s nice to see you again."
Dave returned the greeting, exchanging pleasantries with Jackie before the latter’s expression turned serious. "I’ve got sothing to show you," Jackie said, his eyes glinting with excitent. "Follow ."
Without another word, Jackie led Dave inside the factory, the sounds of the burning bodies fading into the background as they entered the dimly lit interior. Dave’s curiosity was piqued, as he followed Jackie, wondering what he was about to see.
As Dave walked into the factory, the area fell silent for a mont before erupting into a chorus of greetings. Faces turned towards him, eyes lighting up with recognition and admiration. The mbers of the rger faction nodded, smiled, or called out his na, their voices overlapping in a cacophony of welco.
Dave’s expression remained neutral, but he felt a flicker of discomfort at the attention. He wasn’t used to being greeted with such enthusiasm, and the weight of their expectations settled awkwardly on his shoulders. He forced a nod, a brief smile, and a murmured greeting in response, unsure of how to react to the outpouring of warmth.
Jackie led him through the winding corridors of the factory, the sounds of the faction’s activity growing fainter as they walked. They finally arrived at a viewing area, a large podium that stood above the subterranean arena below them, were a fight was going underway. But unlike what you would have thought, it wasn’t a fight between two humans, it was one having to do with an armless human and two large beasts
The sound of snarls, grunts, and shout echoed up to the viewing area, and Dave’s eyes were drawn inexorably to the battle unfolding below.
Jackie’s voice cut through the din, his words low and conspiratorial. "This is one of our new recruits, we’re trying to help her awaken her powers."
Dave gazed down into the arena, his eyes fixed on the young woman as she cowered between the two massive, black cat-like beasts. Their eyes seed to glow in the dim light, their jaws snapping wildly as they circled her.
The woman’s breath ca in ragged gasps, her eyes darting frantically between the two predators as she backed away, her hands raised in a futile attempt to ward them off.
Dave’s brow furrowed in concern as he turned to Jackie, who stood beside him, watching the scene unfold with an air of detachnt. "How is she going to survive, she has no weapos?" Dave asked, his voice low but filled with concern.
Jackie’s expression didn’t change, but a hint of excitent crept into his voice. "This is how we awaken the rger powers. When a person is scared enough, a mark appears on their neck." He gestured to the woman below, who let out a terrified shriek as one of the beasts lunged closer. "Once the mark appears, they can rge with any beast that chooses them."
As Jackie spoke, the woman stumbled backward, her eyes fixed on the beasts as they closed in. Suddenly, a glow had filled the arena as a mark materialized on her neck.
The beasts before her halted as they saw the mark appear on her neck. The woman could feel a tingling sensation on the side of her neck, her expression changing instantly into that of excitent, her previous fear was replaced almost instantly.
"Now she’s ready," Jackie said, a smile spreading across his face. "She can rge with any beasts now and unlock her true potential."
Dave really like how interesting the rging ability sounded, and he must say he is really impressed by this. But he couldn’t help but wonder just how many people could have this kind of power out there.
There will be those who would have this ability in them, maybe even the mark on their neck, but they might not be aware of this. At that mont, a thought had crossed into Dave’s mind. If they could go into the city where the lots of people were said to be present, then then should be able to recruit a lot of people who have the sa rging ability.
It’s not all those who undergo the test in the factory will be lucky enough to have a rging ability in them, so instead of just wasting ti, they could just go into the city. With all the dangers and threats from different beasts, they should be able to see different people who have managed to unlock their rging abilitiesm, making it more easier for them to recruit them.
He was going to discuss this with Jackie and he was sure he would accept it. With this, they could even spread the fa of their faction even further. And maybe then, the two other factions will act and he’ll be able to discover where their bases are located.
