As Dave observed the group before him, a realization dawned: these individuals, identified by the system as rgers, were distinct from the hybrids he had previously encountered.
Unlike the hybrids, who often lost control during their transformations, these rgers shifted into their beastly forms with deliberate intent, maintaining full awareness and control.
In White’s laboratory, Dave had co across a manual detailing the nature of hybrids. It explained that hybrids possessed a dual form, their human and beast form, which leads to internal conflicts that often resulted in uncontrollable transformations.
To manage this, White had developed a remote device, using the mother crystal, to control these involuntary changes. However, the rgers exhibited no such instability.
This discrepancy raised questions in Dave’s mind. How did the rgers achieve such seamless control over their transformations? Was there a different chanism at play, or had they undergone a distinct process altogether?
At that mont, a translucent screen of the system had appeared before his eyes, displaying a detailed information about the enigmatic group confronting him.
[rgers are individuals who have undergone a unique transformation, allowing them to rge their bodies with those of beasts]
[This rging is typically triggered subconsciously, often during monts of intense fear or panic, resulting in the user being able to rge with any beasts that chooses them]
[Upon rging with a beast, the individual gains the abilities and attributes of the beast, while the beast itself, along with others of its kind, ceases any hostile actions towards the rger]
[rgers are generally immune to attacks from all kinds of beasts, except when confronted by a beast of superior strength or of higher tier than they are. But with sufficient skill and control, rgers can effectively utilize their acquired beastly powers to overco such challenges]
Dave absorbed the information, as the system ssage ended there. His gaze then shifted back to the group of people before him.
The realization dawned upon him. These were not hybrids, but rgers. They are normal human beings who were able to obtain superpowers that gives them the ability to achieve a harmonious fusion with beasts. Their human consciousness was retained, even though they had another creature rged with them.
He then recalled the hybrids, whose transformations were erratic and often uncontrollable by their human selves.
In contrast, the rgers exhibited a seamless integration, their beastly features complenting their human forms rather than overwhelming them.
At that mont, a thought had suddenly crossed Dave’s mind. What if he could make these rgers to beco part of his army. Their abilities mirrored his own to so extent, and their control over their powers hinted at a level of discipline and understanding.
They weren’t controlled by their beasts self, which was a plus, compared to the hybrids. And he also didn’t have to ta them or anything like that.
Perhaps, with the right approach, they could be persuaded to join forces with him.
However, the current situation left little room for diplomacy. The rgers had already initiated an attack, leaving Dave with no choice but to defend himself. He understood that words would not suffice, so he needed to demonstrate his strength and establish dominance.
Steeling himself, Dave prepared to engage, hoping that through combat, he could stop their attacks, and, eventually, earn their cooperation. Perhaps even completing the system quest given to him.
Dave stood his ground as two rgers charged at him, their bodies morphing into grotesque parodies of beasts. One resembled a porcupine, quills bristling and ready to launch; the other took on a spider-like form, spinnerets at the ready, weaving webs between clawed fingers.
The porcupine-hybrid snarled, muscles tensing as it hurled a volley of sharp quills toward Dave. Simultaneously, the spider-like creature flung a sticky web, aiming to entangle and immobilize him.
Dave remained motionless. The quills struck his torso with a series of dull thuds, but he didn’t flinch. The web ensnared him, wrapping around his limbs and torso. For a mont, silence hung in the air.
Then, with a surge of strength, Dave flexed his muscles, tearing through the webbing as if it were paper. The remnants fluttered to the ground, and he stepped forward, unscathed. He had also removed the quills stuck on his body, casually tossing them to the side as if they were nothing.
Gasps echoed from the assembled rgers. Their eyes widened in disbelief. "How is he able to do that," one of them asked in bafflent.
Jackie, the older man leading the group, stepped forward, his expression hardening. "Attack him now you dummies!" he said with a command. "He clearly has superpowers. He’s definitely from the other superpower faction."
Dave stood amidst the clearing, as he anticipated the attack coming toward him. The rgers had already transford into their beasts forms, and had started encircling him, their eyes gleaming with predatory intent. Each bore the distinct features of the creature they had rged with, their powers evident in their transford physiques.
Suddenly, a figure lunged forward, it was a Wolf rger; since he rged with a wolf. His movents were swift, almost a blur, as he aid a clawed swipe at Dave. Dave sidestepped, feeling the rush of air as the claws missed him by inches. The Wolf rger growled, his heightened senses tracking Dave’s every move.
But before Dave could attack the wolf rger, a Falcon rger swooped down from above with his talons extended. Dave rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding the aerial assault.
The Falcon rger ascended and then descended again, preparing for another dive, his wings slicing through the air as he swooped for Dave again. Moreover, Dave seem to be ready this ti as he lunged toward the rger before it got to him. He grabbed him by the feet, then spinning around in a circular motion, he fling the rger away, as it crashed against the wall, passing out from the impact.
The attack didn’t stop there as another rger had ca towards him. A low hiss could be heard, signalling the approachings of a Snake rger. His elongated body slithered with uncanny speed, and his fangs dripped with venom.
He struck, lunging towards Dave, but he was able to block the attack as punched the snake rger in the mouth, both of his fangs snapping and falling to the ground.
At that mont, the ground could be felt trembling as an Elephant rger charged forward, his massive form barreling towards Dave.
Bracing himself, Dave used the montum to his advantage, standing his ground as best as he could. Then at the last mont, he sidestepped, causing the Elephant rger to stumble forward, montarily going off balance, as it collapsed on the wall, his trunk sticking into it.
"Co on, is this all you got? You’ve got to do better if you’re going to take down." Dave said.
Jackie as well was frustrated by the outco of the fight, and at that mont, he had yelled out sothing, hoping to change the outco of the fight.
"D and T rgers! Take this bastard down!"
