Chapter 627: Buffet Of Debauchery

Charlotte wanted to scream. She wanted to tear them apart with her bare hands.

But she couldn’t touch any of them. She was as powerless here as the people on the tables.

“What’s going on here?” She demanded, spinning toward Marcus. “Why have all these people been tied up!? What are you planning to do with them!?”

Marcus gave a cold, satisfied smile that made her skin crawl.

“Haven’t I already told you, Lady Charlotte? These are the activities.”

“Activities?”

“Every party needs entertainment. Games. Shows. Something to keep the guests engaged.”

He gestured toward the bound prisoners with a flourish.

“In the real world, people hire performers. Jugglers. Magicians. Musicians. But here, in my domain, we prefer something a little more…interactive.”

He walked over to a nearby table, where a display of tools had been arranged—knives, pliers, drills, and other implements that Charlotte didn’t want to identify.

“We’ve gathered playthings from all over the world.”

Marcus continued, his voice taking on the tone of a proud host.

“Each one selected to suit the preferences of our distinguished guests. Some prefer their toys to be young. Others prefer them to be strong. Some want them to fight back, while others want them already broken. Whatever their desires, we’ve acmodated them.”

He picked up a small, wickedly sharp blade and turned it over in his fingers.

“Tonight, when the clock strikes midnight and the new year begins, the real festivities will start. Our guests will be free to do whatever they want with their designated playthings.”

“Torture them…”

“Molest them…”

“Kill them…”

“It’s all part of the celebration.”

His smile turned insidious.

“It’s basically a buffet of debauchery! A gathering of sin! Whatever dark desires they’ve been forced to suppress in the real world, they can indulge here without consequence!”

Charlotte felt bile rise in her throat. “You’re sick. You’re absolutely sick in the head!”

“”Oh, e now, little Charlotte.” A smooth, velvety voice purred from behind them. “Don’t be so dramatic. I think Marcus is a absolute genius.”

Charlotte turned to see Amanda stepping up to Marcus’s side. She looked radiant in a sweeping emerald green gown, her golden hair styled in flawless curls, her blue eyes shining with delight.

She slid her arm fortably through Marcus’s, leaning her head against his shoulder.

“How are our guests enjoying the arrangements, my love?” Marcus asked, looking down at her softly.

“Oh, they’re utterly enchanted, darling!” Amanda giggled, pressing a soft kiss to Marcus’s cheek. “Several senators have already asked me to convey their deepest gratitude for your hospitality.”

Marcus smiled, turning his head to meet her lips, and the two began to kiss passionately right in front of Charlotte—a sickening display of affection amid a field of bound, terrified victims.

Revolted, Charlotte turned her back on them and ran toward the nearest banquet table.

Bound to the surface was a middle-aged woman, her eyes filled with absolute, hopeless despair.

As Charlotte approached, the woman’s eyes widened slightly upon recognizing her—the young daughter of the legendary Battle Angels.

For weeks, the captives had clung to a desperate, fragile prayer that the Battle Angels would breach this nightmare and save them.

So, seeing Charlotte step into the center of this debauchery caused the woman’s last spark of hope to shatter.

She assumed the Battle Angel bloodline itself had been corrupted, that even the sacred guardians were part of this horrific secret society.

Seeing the horror in the woman’s eyes, Charlotte quickly realized what she was thinking and leaned over the table, speaking rapidly.

“No, no—I’m not—” Charlotte fumbled for words. “I’m a prisoner here too! Just like you! I’m trapped here just like you!”

The woman’s eyes flickered with uncertainty.

“I’m so sorry this is happening to you.” Charlotte continued, her voice cracking. “I’m so sorry you were dragged into this nightmare. But please—please don’t give up hope!”

“You’re going to be saved. We’re going to find a way out of here. I promise!”

The woman’s eyes filled with tears. Around her, other prisoners who had overheard Charlotte’s words began to stir, their expressions shifting from hopeless despair to something like fragile hope.

She then went from table to table, offering reassurances, trying to fort the terrified prisoners.

Meanwhile, the guests watched her with amusement, mocking her attempts to provide fort in the face of overwhelming evil.

“Oh look, it’s the daughter of a Battle Angel.” One of them said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “She thinks she can actually save them. How adorable.”

“She’s trying to give them hope.” Another added, chuckling. “As if hope means anything in this place.”

“What a waste of time.” A third guest said, shaking his head. “She should be grateful we’re letting her watch. It’s more than she deserves.”

“It’s a pity she’s in that intangible state.” A young noble purred, his eyes scanning Charlotte’s form with revolting lust. “If she had a physical body in this domain, I’d trade half my family estate just to have an hour with a Battle Angel’s daughter.”

The group erupted into coarse, mocking laughter.

Charlotte heard every single disgusting remark, every vile taunt hurled her way.

But she refused to acknowledge them. She kept her chin held high, her eyes fixed entirely on the victims.

In her mind, the opinions of these monsters meant less than nothing. Only Mika mattered. Only saving these innocent people mattered.

Then, Charlotte reached a table tucked near the edge of the terrace—and stopped dead in her tracks.

Lying bound upon the platform was a young woman whose skin was deathly pale.

But what caught Charlotte’s eye was her abdomen—swollen into a distinct, pronounced dome.

She was heavily pregnant.

The sheer cruelty of it snapped something deep within Charlotte.

“MARCUS, YOU FILTHY BASTARD!”

The entire garden fell dead silent. The music faltered, and over a hundred aristocrats turned to stare at the little ghost girl standing in the center of the lawn, her frame trembling with absolute rage.

“HOW COULD YOU?!” Charlotte screamed, pointing a shaking phantom finger toward the pregnant woman.

“SHE IS PREGNANT! SHE IS ABOUT TO GIVE BIRTH ANY DAY NOW! HOW COULD YOU BRING HER HERE?!”

Her voice cracked with devastating emotion as tears streamed down her face.

“You kidnap little children, you torture innocent teenagers—and now you bring unborn babies into your sick game?!”

“HAVE YOU NO SHAME?! DOES NO ONE IN THIS ROOM HAVE A SINGLE OUNCE OF HUMANITY?!”

She flew across the lawn, stopping directly in front of Marcus, her eyes burning with pure hatred.

“AND DON’T YOU HAVE A SISTER, MARCUS?! ISN’T SHE PREGNANT RIGHT NOW TOO?!”

“HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF SOMEONE DRAGGED YOUR SISTER HERE AND STRAPPED HER TO A TABLE LIKE CATTLE?! HOW CAN YOU LOOK AT THAT WOMAN AND FEEL NOTHING?!”

The guests stood frozen, their drinks in hand, their expressions unreadable.

And then, the laughter began.

“Hahaha!”

It started as a few chuckles, then grew into full-throated laughter that echoed across the garden.

“HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!”

“HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!”

“HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!”

The guests were slamming into one another, clutching their sides, tears streaming down their faces. They were laughing as if Charlotte had just told the funniest joke in the world.

“Is this child serious!?” ONE of them gasped between laughs. “What is she saying? Sympathy? Oh my god, I can’t! This is too funny!”

“She’s trying to move us with her speech!” Another added, wiping tears from his eyes. “She’s a child through and through.”

“I can’t believe she said such childish things!” A third guest said, shaking his head in disbelief. “She actually thinks we care about these people!”

“Such innocence! Such adorable, naive innocence!”

Marcus stood quietly through the laughter, a cold, disdainful sneer playing on his lips as he looked down at Charlotte.

“Do not dare pare my noble bloodline to that filthy whore.”

Marcus said, his voice dropping into an arrogant, icy register that carried over the crowd’s chuckles.

“My sister carries the sacred blood of my family—the true protagonists of this world. We are elevated far above the mon cattle that walk the earth.”

“That wretched creature on the table is trash, meant to be used and discarded! My sister belongs to a realm you pathetic insects couldn’t even dream of prehending!”

“YOU BASTARD!” Charlotte roared, lunging forward with all her weight, attempting to tear at his throat. “I’LL KILL YOU! I’LL CHOP YOU INTO A THOUSAND PIECES! I’LL RIP YOUR HEART OUT!”

Marcus didn’t even flinch as her phantom hands passed harmlessly through his chest. He merely smiled warmly, tapping his sternum.

“Please, Lady Charlotte. I’m standing right here. Strike me down if you can.”

Charlotte’s fists clenched at her sides. “You’re going to burn in hell for this! All of you!”

Marcus’s smile didn’t waver. “We’re already in hell, Lady Charlotte. We might as well enjoy it.”

The party resumed.

Charlotte, defeated but not broken, continued to move among the captives.

She couldn’t touch them, but she could speak to them. She could offer them fort. She could give them hope.

“It’s going to be alright.” She whispered to each one in turn. “I know it doesn’t seem like it right now, but you’re going to survive this. We’re all going to survive this. Just hold on. Please.”

The guests mocked her openly.

“What’s she doing? Trying to be a hero?”

“She can’t even touch them! It’s pathetic!”

“Such a pity we can’t touch her yet. The things I would do to that little body—”

“Don’t worry, princess. Your turn is ing soon enough.”

But Charlotte ignored them all. She had one job to do, and she would do it until she physically couldn’t continue.

The captives on the other hand looked at her with tears in their eyes.

Seeing the young daughter of a Battle Angel stand up to a crowd of a hundred terrifying monsters, screaming on behalf of an unborn child, reignited a faint, brilliant ember of hope within their souls.

They realized that even in the deepest, darkest pit of hell, true light still existed—and it refused to back down.

Charlotte, unaware of the hope she had kindled, wiped her eyes and looked around the garden again, her mind racing.

‘Wait…where is he?’

She scanned every table, every corner of the lawn, every dark shadow beneath the marble pillars.

Mika was nowhere to be found.

Panic surging anew, Charlotte sprinted back to Marcus, grabbing at his white suit jacket.

“WHERE IS MIKA?! Marcus, you bastard, where did you take him?! You said you were bringing him out!”

Marcus raised a single finger to his lips, making a soft shushing sound.

“Hush now, Lady Charlotte. A guest of honor should not make such a unrefined scene. You must learn to wait patiently.”

“TELL ME WHERE HE IS!” She screamed.

Marcus pletely ignored her, turning away to join a group of businessmen, raising a glass of dark red wine to his lips.

“Do not worry, my dear. Mika is the centerpiece of our celebration tonight. He shall be our very first sacrifice to wele the new year. It is only a matter of minutes now.”

Frustrated and powerless, Charlotte turned back toward the banquet tables.

She spent the remaining time tiptoeing onto her toes, leaning over the platforms, whispering endless reassurances to every bound person she could reach.

11:50 PM.

Ten minutes remained until midnight.

Marcus checked his gold pocket watch, a brilliant, manic smile breaking across his face.

He walked gracefully to the center of the garden, holding his glass high into the air. He drew a small silver spoon from his breast pocket and tapped it against the crystal.

DING! DING! DING!

The clear, ringing tone echoed across the sprawling gardens.

The laughter died down, the orchestra stilled its music, and over a hundred and fifty demons turned their full attention toward the host.

Seeing that he held the room, Marcus lowered his glass, folding his hands behind his back.

“My dear friends…”

“My beloved family of visionaries.”

Marcus began, his voice smooth and manding.

“I wele you all to our annual celebration of The Last Sin.”
