Chapter 78: Getting Murdered by an Instructor!? [Bonus Chapter for Successful Powerstones Target]

"There’s only one way to survive in Aether Beyonder Academy."

Vice Mimora said, drowning out their murmurs.

"You become Aether Beyonders."

"Wait, you’re asking us to fuse with supernatural creatures. To become the exact thing, we’re risking our lives to fight against?"

A 2nd year asked, finding it hard to comprehend all of this madness.

"That!"

Vice Mimora said.

"That is exactly what the interchange is about. We give them some of the best of our students, and they train them in their own way."

"They also give us their own students who, of course, will have their powers also sealed away, too, and they will learn Essence Cultivation from us."

"That is why it’s called an interchange."

She explained.

"As for whether you fuse with supernatural creatures or not. I already told you, there are two choices."

"You either fuse with supernatural parts, or you become an Otherworld Dreamer and share your soul with an Otherworld creature."

"You will learn more of what you’re risking when you get there."

"A good way to see this is assuming that you were chosen by Aether Beyonder Academy instead of Xtremecybers."

She explained.

"Can we quit?"

Another 2nd year asked the same question that was in all their minds...including White.

Honestly, White had been pretty excited for this.

Joining a new academy not on the rankings, and not cultivating essence energy like normal, it sounds exciting, right?

But when he heard the mad way Aether Beyonders Academy cultivates their power, for some reason, he felt less excited about all of this.

To the point that hearing the word ’quit’ didn’t immediately send a frown across his face.

"Unfortunately, no."

Vice Mimora said.

"The Vice Principal of our academy already sent you guys’ images to Aether Beyonder officials."

"They’re expecting each one of you, and if I may add, they’ve already sent their own student images three days ago, and their students are already on their way here."

"It’s simply too late to call things off."

"Now that is just crazy."

The green-haired dude shouted furiously.

"We did a mission, a mission that took our blood, sweat, and tears, and we ought to be given a reward."

"This is the so-called goddamned reward that the academy gives to us?"

"We’re to go to some academy, have our powers sealed away, and we get two choices right after:

"Have our bodies fused with supernatural creatures or our sell our souls to creatures that don’t even belong in our reality!?"

"Is that the academy’s definition of reward? What type of shittiness is this?"

That question led to more murmurs from the other students, their voices raising louder and louder.

In that moment, the system panel flashed before White.

[Prepare to Run!]

’What!?’

To the sudden curses, Vice Mimora’s eyes narrowed coldly, and then a vein popped on her forehead.

In the next moment, they witnessed her slowly raising her hands, all five fingers stretched towards them.

CRAAAACKK!

Cracks ran across the white ground as the space around all 7 began to crack apart.

"Then you all just die..."

"MIMORA!"

Vice Amora shouted, holding her hands tight, and only then did the space cracking stop.

"How about I take it from here?"

She said, and the white-haired lady’s snort blasted in their ears.

"Bloody cowards!"

"See it, Amora. It is this same sickening cowardice that made us lose the competition in the first place!"

She said as space suddenly crumbled to pieces behind her, a blue door appeared, and she stepped in, disappearing out of the hall.

After her disappearance, White felt something around his ears, and curiously, his hand reached towards his ear.

He felt liquid, and he brought it to his face.

There, right in his fingers, was his own blood.

Her angry snort had made him bleed from his ear!

Looking around, he realized he wasn’t the only one.

All of the second years had blood dripping from their ears, and only the third year remained unaffected.

"I will ask you to watch how you speak to a Vice."

The pink-haired lady said.

"She can kill most of you in here with a snap of her fingers, and trust me, whether you’re right or wrong, the academy won’t kill her for you."

She explained, and seeing the blood in their ears that had been made simply because she snorted, the words hit them right in their chest.

They really could have all just died right then and there.

"This interchange is a matter of perspective."

Vice Amora said in her much cooler tone.

"I know Vice Mimora made it sound like it’s all about danger, but that’s because she’s still annoyed about the competition."

"We Xtremecyber lost to Aether Beyonders. Very woefully if I may add."

She said, and silence reigned in the room.

"It’s why we have no choice but to send 7 of you to them."

"But look at it from this perspective."

"In this world, all that each of you has ever known is a single way of cultivation, Essence Energy."

"Imagine if you go to Aether Beyonder Academy and you survive."

"When you return, you will be anything unlike anyone here has ever seen, as you will be capable of not just one, but two ways of power."

"You will be an Awakener like you already are and in addition to that, an Otherworld Dreamer or a Genome Awakener."

"Can you imagine that rarity? That power?"

She asked, and White’s brow furrowed.

’That does sound insane.’

He thought quietly.

To possess two ways of cultivation at the same time?

That meant he would have access to limitless energy, and if he chose to be an Otherworld Dreamer, he would also possess that unique Otherworld power.

One had to know that, in his past life, he had zero idea that it was possible to have another cultivation that isn’t essence energy.

He didn’t even know it was possible to fuse with supernatural creatures until his head was taken from him.

Only at that point of death did he realize the commanders had suddenly possessed supernatural powers, revealing their betrayals.

But now, he was being given a chance.

Now he would be able to earn more, how humanity can fuse with supernatural, and in so doing, be able to tell if an awakener had already fused with Supernatural parts.

This wasn’t just some interchange mission.

This was a chance for him to correct a flaw that had cost him his life in his past life: not recognizing quickly enough that the commanders had already betrayed humanity.

If he had gotten the chance to join Aether Beyonders in his past life, perhaps he would have been able to instantly tell that Draugr had become the Beast of Draugr and saved the lives of his comrades.

Would it really be a wise choice to let this opportunity go, simply because there’s a chance of him dying in the Aether Beyonders Academy?

Didn’t he come close to death, too, when joining the Xtremecybers?

"I’ll go."
