Chapter 82: Setting Camp
Although the activity was to hunt monsters, setting up camp was actually the first thing that one should do in this kind of environnt.
They were thought like this in school, so Desther assud that the others would do the sa. Only those who were pretty confident in themselves would refuse to set camp and go hunting right away.
"This place should be good enough," Desther stated as he looked at the surroundings.
Approximately a kiloter and half away from the main base, the forest was lush and full of huge trees around them.
For Desther, he thought that it was the perfect place to build a base on.
"You can climb, right?"
Noah tilted his head, not knowing what he ant by that. Regardless, he nodded his head, affirming that he could indeed climb.
"Good! Drop the supplies, we’ll camp here."
As he said that, Desther dropped his small bag and took out an ordinary dagger.
Roaming around, he found so vines and tied them together to make a makeshift rope and ladder.
With great expertise, Desther climbed the trunk of the massive tree and chose a good node with a lot of space. He used the dagger and cleared the tree’s node, creating even more space than it used to before.
After creating the bedding using the tree leaves, he took so twigs and small branches and used them as the wall.
Afterwards, the simple tree node beca like a tree house.
Although it was not perfect, it was definitely enough to beco a shelter in the wild.
Above the tree, it was safe from land-crawling creatures, and all they needed to look out for were birds and any other flying creatures.
In the wilderness with dense trees, the easiest to deal with were actually those who could fly.
Restricted by the branches and the canopies, the space they could fly to was limited.
A quick and agile flying creature, of course, changes the situation all together.
He just hopes that there won’t be any of them in this part of Veldora Woods, though.
And he was speaking from experience.
After everything was done, Lexis dropped the makeshift vine ladder he made earlier.
He then jumped down and took so of the supplies that Noah brought. Carrying them as he made his way up again.
"Co on up. This will be our operating base from now on."
"Ooh, okay!" Noah nodded his head and went up the tree house, bringing with him so of the supplies as well.
Since they were too heavy, the two of them ended up going back for the second round to bring all the things up in the tree house.
After they were done, the space in the tree house beca smaller, and there was now only enough space for the two of them to lie on.
It doesn’t matter, though. The supplies were more important.
For all he knows, they could sleep on another branch in a sitting position.
Noah did not seem to share his sentints.
"Alright, you can sleep inside. I’ll be the one staying guard outside, anyway," Desther said after a mont of consideration.
He was not a sensitive person to begin with. He was already chiseled by his experience years ago.
Noah felt grateful for it, as he promised Desther that he would be their cook from now on.
Desther did not comnt on that. He wondered if Noah even knew how to cook.
Desther went down and prepared to set up traps and trips in their periter.
So of the trips were tied with bells, while so were made to be ordinary.
This way, he would imdiately know if anyone entered the periter of their base.
It was already noon when they were done with settling things in.
The sun was high up, but the canopy of trees covered them from the intense heat.
"There’s no ti to waste. Now that we have already made a base, the next thing to do is obviously to prepare and hunt monsters."
As he said that, he took the golden and silver revolvers and strapped them to his thighs after loading them with bullets.
As extra, he also brought another set of bullets and put them in his pockets. The ordinary dagger could not be left either; it was important for them to cut a lot of things.
"Are you done with your preparation?" Desther asked.
Noah nodded his head.
A round shield was in his right hand, while his other hand held the sa pistol he used before.
Seeing that, Desther could not help but shake his head.
"Seriously, you should get rid of that. You don’t have any talents with guns. It’s better if you practice with close-range weapons while it’s still early so that you can get used to it early as well."
Hearing that, Noah could only sigh. He pocketed the pistol and took out a huge baseball bat from his supply.
Desther nodded his head.
’That’s more like it.’
Although not as effective as sharp weapons when it cos to killing, if used well by the right person, blunt weapons could be killing machines too.
He recalled that Noah seed to have awakened a strength-type talent. Using a blunt weapon should be a good fit for him.
He must have already discussed this with his parents or so experts he knew.
Since this was a sensitive topic, Desther did not inquire about it.
After securing their base, the two of them left in search of monsters to begin their hunt.
They did not go from their base. Killing the monsters in their periter and securing their base even further was the first thing to do.
That way, there would be one less thing to worry about while they were sleeping or resting.
It was mostly Desther who led the way. With his enhanced senses, it did not take long for them to find the first monster in the area.
Taking out his two revolvers, Desther dual-wielded for the first ti and aid the gold and silver revolvers toward the monster in the distance.
