Chapter 57: New Mission
Desther stood up from his seat and looked around in confusion. He did not let himself be swept by the frenzy happening around him. He cald himself and observed the situation.
The people were already in panic. Screams were everywhere as they tried to run away from one direction.
Desther already has an inkling of what was going on. After all, the mission given by the title Chosen One had already flashed in front of his eyes.
[ Mission: Breakout Blocker! ]
[ Details: A newly erged dungeon has been detected around you. ]
[ Objective: Prevent a dungeon breakout from happening. ]
[ Reward: Experience Points
50%, Awakened Credits
2500 ]
[ Ti Limit: Before the dungeon breakout. ]
[ Penalty: None ]
Judging by the flow of the people, Desther was able to guess where the dungeon had erged.
Looking at the mission, the penalty of death for refusing it has disappeared. Now, even if he refused the mission, he would not be penalized in any form.
However, looking at the promised reward, would Desther really be able to ignore it?
’Damn it! You really know how to fucking sway
over, don’t you!’
The promised experience points reward was already a good deal. However, if it were only that, Desther would still have the heart to ignore it since it was a mission without any penalty.
However, the Awakened Credit reward was just not sothing that he could not reject, no matter what. As of this mont, the thing that he lacked the most was money.
Although earning Awakened Credits as a professional was certainly not that hard, with the risk involved with it, sotis the reward might even outweigh the risks.
With 2500 Awakened Credits as a reward, though, Desther knew that he would be able to rest easy for a few months if he were able to get them.
’No matter. I’ll see what grade of dungeon it is. If it’s out of my league, I’ll just bounce...’ he thought to himself as he made his way over.
Running opposite the people’s flow, Desther arrived at the newly opened gate a minute later.
Looking at the size of the gate, Desther imdiately deed it to be an E-nace level threat.
For dungeons like this, the levels of monsters inside would range from level 5 to 10 or late-stage Tier 0. The dungeon boss would be at the peak of Level 10 or a newly transcended Level 11 Tier 1 creature.
With his current strength, Desther knew that there would not be any problem if he goes inside.
Unless, of course, the dungeon would suddenly mutate.
But that only has a very slow chance of happening. And if it does, Desther could just escape with his life intact as long as he would be able to kill one monster inside this dungeon.
For a newly erged dungeon like this, it would usually take around 5 to 10 minutes before a dungeon breakout occurs.
To prevent this, the monsters inside must be killed to stabilize the dungeon.
However, in such scenarios, dungeon breakouts would still be possible.
The only way to prevent this from happening was to regularly kill the monsters inside, or better yet, destroy the dungeon core altogether.
Once a dungeon breakout occurs, the monsters inside would pour outside, and the gate would slowly shrink until it was barely visible with the naked eye.
At that ti, breaking the dungeon would be a hard thing to do, as the area would already be overrun by monsters. As more ti passes, the smaller the gate will beco as well.
Afraid of getting accidentally sucked inside, the people around ran away from the dungeon as quickly as possible.
Most of those who have the ti to take a stroll in a recreation area like this park were surely not capable of fighting.
There might be one or two daring souls around that could fight, but entering a newly erged dungeon was very dangerous.
Lacking any information, one would not even know what kind of world and what kind of monsters they would face once inside.
This was not the first ti that sothing like this happened inside Radiant Shelter anyway.
Although so had panicked, like Desther, there were actually others that remained calm as they watched the swirling mass of black fog in front of them with visible curiosity.
The next mont, Desther felt his phone vibrate intensely.
When he took a look at it, he realized that it was actually a mandatory notification that ca from the governnt.
[A new dungeon has erged near Southern Park. All civilians, please vacate the area imdiately. Any Professionals near the area, please help vacate the people safely. Forces from the military and Professional Alliance are already on their way to subjugate the dungeon. Thank you for your cooperation!]
[A new dungeon has erged near Southern Park. All civilians, please vacate the area imdiately...]
[A new dungeon has erged near Southern Park. All civilians, please vacate the area imdiately...]
The notification flashed multiple tis on everyone’s screen for a few seconds before disappearing.
This was already a standard procedure, and Desther was already aware of what would happen next based on what he knew online and what he personally witnessed before.
Usually, volunteers would gather in front of the dungeon before the military and people from Professional Alliance could.
If the threat was high enough, there would even be a case of forced conscription on the spot to prevent a dungeon breakout from happening.
Once the people from the military and the Professional Alliance arrive, they will use asuring tools to clearly sense the threat level of the dungeon. Once done, they would allow anyone to enter the dungeon and have a chance at clearing it or killing the monsters inside.
According to the law, a newly erged dungeon can be entered by anyone, regardless of who owns the land it erged on.
However, in the subject of the dungeon getting conquered, the landowner must be compensated in the form of Awakened Credits, or they could request for the dungeon to be regulated if they have the capability to do so.
If the dungeon core was not broken in the first hour, the owner of the land may impose entrance fees for those who want to enter the dungeon in the future as well.
Since Southern Park was a public place, the governnt would be the one to decide whether to regulate it or not.
Desther would certainly not wait for them to co over as well.
Not only would he lack ti for the mission, but he would also not be allowed to go inside since he doesn’t have his Professional Badge yet.
And even if he did have one already, since the governnt would deem this dungeon way out of his league, they would not let him enter it even more.
Instead of waiting for them, it would be better for him to go inside the dungeon and complete the mission as soon as possible.
He was already done inspecting the dungeon, and based on its size and color, it should still be at E-nace Threat at max.
Since he esteed the dungeon not to be a threat to him, he no longer hesitated and moved forward to enter the dungeon.
