Chapter 156: The Story Of Yin And The Fox Guardian {4}

"Why do you stare at the skies?" Aveline asked, turning her head to William who lay beside her on the grass. In this angle she couldn’t help but analyze his side profile, it was simply perfect just like the rest of him, and his silver hair made it all better, it gave a shiny glow in the sunlight, making it even more beautiful.

Keeping his eyes on the skies, William answered her questions. "It’s relaxing and besides I get to study the colors it has, it makes it easier to paint"

"Really?" Aveline said, puzzled, staring back at the skies. "But it’s just blue and white, there are no other colors to study"

"If the skies were just simply blue and white, then it would lose its beauty... there look" he pointed and she followed the direction of his hand with her eyes.

"You see that spot right under that particular cloud? It has a hue of yellow, the cause of the sunlight"

It was a sight indeed, how co she didn’t notice all this ti? William really has sharp eyes.

"And if you look more you can see so orange too mixing with it... the orange color gets more prominent at sunset, really a lot of colors follow"

"And what about the dark skies? Isn’t it just a dark color"

"Once again no... I say it’s a lilac color, a darker shade and you can mix it up with blue"

"Really?"

William nods with a small smile on his lips. He usually doesn’t like talking a lot, he considered it a waste of energy and too ti-consuming, but having a friend like Aveline causes him to be speaking a lot because she asks a lot of questions over and over again and she never gets tired of it, she wants to learn everything he knows. William didn’t mind it at all, he answered all her questions.

So this was friendship, sharing so things in common and asking about things, talking about everything, and more importantly having trust in one another. It was all new for William for he has never had a friend, not until Aveline walked into his life.

William felt his body still when he felt her hand itching close to his. In response, he turned to her, whatever she was saying beca inaudible to him, as she pointed to sothing and he only just watched her, and for a strange reason, he was itching to hold her hand for it would complete this mont.

But all his encounters with Aveline showed him that she was scared of physical contact, any touch got her scared and alert and she acted like it was a bad thing and he wondered why. He really wanted to hold her hand right now, every vein in his body was telling him to do so... just as his finger stretched to hold one of hers, he rethought everything and pulled away, staring back at the skies.

They continued the rest of the day like this. In fact, Every day was like this, William would take a break from the library and co to paint, and he would find Aveline waiting for him at their point, at first he wouldn’t rember her but the mont she said the na ’Ava’ he has given her, everything will co back to him.

And he would realize a friend was waiting for him, a friend he only rembers when she said a na, but he didn’t care because the lonely feeling he had was long gone.

So day he would read a book to her as they set sothing that looked like a picnic and Aveline would just watch as he reads and she couldn’t be more intrigued by him.

"Are you even listening?"

She nods at his words and blushes in embarrassnt.

"I know I’m handso but your stare makes

nervous"

She gagged. "Who said you were handso?" she sticks her tongue at him and he gives her a deadly look.

Aveline’s heart skipped a beat and she knew she was in for it, without wasting ti she would bolt and William would run after her. They would laugh at the gesture, as William will try to catch Aveline. He is faster than her when it cos to speed, but here is the fun in that?

So he would play the chase.

Aveline with her gown raised would giggle into the air, looking behind and finding William chasing after her, she knew he was stalling, and that only made it more fun.

William looked around, no longer finding her. "Ava!" he called in amusent.

"Up here silly!" Aveline said from on top of a tree and William raised his gaze in shock.

"How did you get up there so fast?"

She laughed.

"Not only are you fast for your fra but you also climb too?"

"My ears are sharp too," she said, pointing to her ears that twitched in response.

"Elvenia has those ears too but that is because she is a butterfly. You still haven’t told

what magical creature you are"

Aveline held a branch and swung back down and stood right in front of him. "Even if I told you... you won’t believe

and besides I can’t,

being here is against all rules"

"But you still co"

She nods as they both take a trek. "Yes because sotis it’s suffocating back at ho, and you? Why do you co to the forest all the ti when you have a whole library to yourself?"

"Nature calls

sotis I guess, it’s part of being a Fox"

"You’re a fox?" she asked with wide eyes

And William only nods like it was no big deal. But Aveline looked like she just caught a new prized possession.

"D-Don’t look at

like that" William defended.

"Like how?" she asked with the cutest puppy dog eyes and William’s wars turned red instantly.

"Nevermind" he mumbled under his breath and walked ahead.

Aveline giggled at his gesture. "Wait silly!" she called and ran to walk by his side.

Five Years Later

"Your Highness"

Aveline turned to the voice and found Adina rushing towards her, finally having a breather after stopping.

Aveline giggled at her gesture. "If you know you can’t run that long then you shouldn’t," She says, going back to feeding her horse an apple.

"Only a rumor will make

run this fast," Adina said breathlessly.

"Do tell..."

"I heard your engagent Ceremony will take place 2 nights from now"

Aveline’s smile slowly vanished. "Oh..." she made a sound downheartedly.

"What’s wrong you don’t sound happy"

Making sure she plastered a fake smile on her lips she faces Adina. "Of course I’m happy... I’m sure it’s not a rumor this ti"

Adina shrugged. "Prince Aldon has been under the care of the elders for years, I’m sure you must miss him"

Aveline only nods.

"I have to go now or else my mother will scold

for not running the errand she sent "

"Sure, I will go for a ride," Aveline said, getting ready to hop on Star.

"You always go for a ride and always spend ti in the woods, I do not get the fun in that"

Aveline suddenly rembers crystal green eyes. "There is fun"

"I wish I was you and escape all the duties as much as I can... that will certainly be fun"

Aveline giggled at Adina’s words as she saddled her horse. "Sure Adina and maybe then you can be as wild as , that is what the rest of the people call "

"Wild Aveline!" they both said in unison and laughed their hearts out until tears well almost leaking from their eyes

"Have fun in the woods!" Adina said, waving her goodbye as Aveline rode out at speed.

Adina still wonders what Aveline does in the woods, she spends all her ti there. It wouldn’t hurt for a glimpse, right?

THE HOLY LIBRARY

William flipped the pages of the books, scanning through them, he was in a hurry to round up everything.

"What can I help you with Elvenia," William said to her standing at the other side of the table. She has been there for so ti now and he knew she wanted to tell him sothing.

"Master" she began in a heavy tone not knowing how to say this to him but she had ntally prepared herself for this, she was worried about his well-being and that was all that matters to her.

"I have watched you for years play with a ghost and spend your ti out there... I hear your laughter and I hear you speak with soone that doesn’t exist. With a heavy heart, I say this to you... because I’m worried"

William instantly stopped writing, there was a long pause and a heavy silence.

"Is there soone you see that I do not? An invisible creature maybe?" She asked because she has watched the master for so ti now and even secretly followed him one day and found him talking to an invisible presence, laughing like soone was actually there... but there was no one.

She was foolish to think this but perhaps the master was losing his mind?
