Run Away After Flirting: Get Lost, Mr. Attorney! Chapter 129: The Whole Family Is Really Scheming
"You and your dad look so much alike. Aren’t you afraid she’ll suspect you two are father and son when you sit together? Besides, weren’t you just waiting for her to get drunk so you could show concern?" Mrs. Spencer glanced at her son and said.
Elias Spencer poured himself a glass of wine, took a sip, and then said in a deep voice, "I’ve already given her and Ian Sterling my blessing."
"So are you going to go on a blind date tomorrow and quickly marry another woman?" she asked.
"Impossible," he flatly refused.
Mrs. Spencer was annoyed; she wanted him to marry soone else, but he refused, and he didn’t pursue the woman he liked. Did he intend to stay single forever?
"You were the one who went to care for another woman and made her angry. Can you really bla her? Who asked you to care about other won?"
"The woman is my assistant, after all, she’s been with for more than two years. A few days ago, she was assaulted by a group of n in a tourist area. I went to see her out of sympathy, not for any other reason," Elias Spencer said in a deep voice.
Mrs. Spencer rembered; was it the woman who ca to her with complaints that had been assaulted by n?
That explains why he went to the hospital to see his assistant, which was understandable—
"Only a woman who still cares about you would be angry about you caring for another woman. I think Sumr Nolan still cares about you, that’s why she’s jealous and angry," she speculated.
Is she ignoring because she’s jealous and angry, not because she really wants to break up? Elias Spencer glanced at his mother.
At this mont, the door to the private room was knocked on and pushed open. Sumr Nolan glanced at the group of strangers in the room, and her eyes suddenly fell on Elias Spencer. Why was he here too?
"Attorney Nolan, co sit over here," Mrs. Spencer gestured to her.
She walked over and sat down on the other side of Mrs. Spencer, poured herself a glass of red wine, and after drinking it with her, asked, "Mrs. Spencer, are you and Attorney Spencer very close?"
They’re mother and son, how could they not be close? Mrs. Spencer turned her head and glanced at her son sitting on her left, still maintaining a cool deanor, and said,
"We’ve worked together for a few years, and it’s been okay. Tonight he was just passing by this private room and ca in to chat when he saw us here."
"Oh," Sumr Nolan nodded, thinking she had intentionally called Elias Spencer over.
Leaning back on the sofa with crossed legs, Jason Spencer glanced at Sumr Nolan and addressed the few business owners next to him,
"The one who just ca in is Attorney Nolan, you should know her. Go and have a few drinks with her. If you have any legal cases in the future, you can find her. She’s a good lawyer."
The business owners, hearing Chairman Spencer say this, imdiately picked up their glasses and lined up to offer drinks and greetings. What is the relationship between Attorney Nolan and Chairman Spencer?
Why is Chairman Spencer helping her so much?
Attorney Spencer was also here, yet Chairman Spencer wasn’t helping him. They had no idea that Elias Spencer was Jason Spencer’s son.
Because Elias Spencer had never publicly disclosed his background.
"Attorney Nolan, hello. I’m Walter Wright from the xx Group. Our group is also looking for a legal representative. Do you have ti to chat one-on-one?"
The middle-aged man said to her very amicably, offering his business card.
Sumr Nolan glanced at Chairman Spencer, feeling a bit flattered; she wasn’t familiar with him, and suddenly introducing clients to her made her feel odd.
"Ahem, yes, let’s schedule a ti to talk."
Sumr Nolan also took out her business card and gave it to him. After having a drink, he complinted her and offered two more drinks.
She had initially intended to just drink a little out of courtesy, but this business owner was too persistent, praising her to the skies, making her embarrassed to drink less.
The remaining business owners were the sa way, and after drinking a dozen glasses or so, her head quickly beca dizzy. Elias Spencer sat silently on the side, his legs crossed, swirling a glass of red wine in his hand.
How could Sumr Nolan have anticipated that her ex-boyfriend’s family would be so cunning?
They tricked her and made her feel grateful, thinking they were wonderful people.
"Attorney Nolan, are you okay?" Mrs. Spencer asked with concern.
"I’m fine..." She forced a smile, her eyes sowhat glazed, and waved her hand.
"If you’re fine, have a few more drinks. Co, it’s the weekend tomorrow, you can sleep in," Mrs. Spencer poured her half a glass, picked it up, and handed it over. Sumr Nolan glanced at her, took the glass, and drank with her.
Just as she was about to put down the glass, Jason Spencer, sitting next to her, poured her another glass. He picked up his own glass, and with a powerful aura, he coldly said:
"Attorney Nolan, we haven’t had a drink tonight. I hope we can have a pleasant collaboration in the future."
"...A pleasant collaboration."
She could only drink another glass with Chairman Spencer. The strong aftertaste of the wine was overwhelming, and after this glass, she truly couldn’t drink anymore, her head becoming increasingly heavy, seeing double.
The business owners, seeing that both Chairman Spencer and his wife had drunk with her, went over with their glasses again. Elias Spencer watched them, frowned, stood up, and reached out to stop them, saying in a cool tone:
"She’s already drunk; stop drinking with her."
"Attorney Nolan’s drinking capacity is impressive, another few glasses won’t hurt," one of the business owners said with a laugh.
Elias Spencer gave them a cold look, slowly uttering two words, "That’s enough."
The business owners looked at him and didn’t dare to offer drinks again. Although they didn’t know Elias Spencer’s background, they knew this famous attorney wasn’t soone to ss with.
"Let’s go, I’ll take you ho," Elias Spencer extended his hand to her.
"Thank you, Attorney Spencer, but I have my own car and can call a driver," Sumr Nolan politely declined, treating him like an ordinary colleague without being intentionally cold.
She wanted to hire a couple of bodyguards skilled in martial arts, and the cost didn’t matter as long as they weren’t just for show with no real skills.
She had been inquiring about it but hadn’t found anyone suitable yet.
"Have you forgotten what you’ve done? It’s not safe for you to be out alone right now," Elias Spencer said to her in a deep voice.
"Aren’t you going to expose to Sean Sterling? Why are you worried about my safety?" she asked with a tipsy smile, looking at him.
Elias Spencer looked at this silly woman; how could he ever genuinely expose her?
Mrs. Spencer, overhearing their conversation, beca curious. Expose what?
"Click—" The door to the private room suddenly opened, and Ian Sterling was about to walk in. He suddenly saw Elias Spencer and his parents sitting inside, slightly stunned, frowning.
Had she t Elias Spencer’s parents and still called over?
Did she want to back off, not wanting to pursue her any further?
Sumr Nolan had no idea he would think so much. Seeing him arrive, she patted the seat beside her and said, "You’re here, co sit."
Ian Sterling paused for a mont but decided to walk over, wanting to understand the situation before any conclusions.
The sofa was slightly cramped in the middle, so he deliberately squeezed in between her and Chairman Spencer, sitting close to her, and politely greeted:
"Hello, Chairman Spencer, Mrs. Spencer."
"Hmm," Jason Spencer responded in a deep voice, having heard from his wife that this young man from the Sterling Family was pursuing Sumr Nolan, making his son’s rival quite formidable.
Elias Spencer thought she had turned down Ian Sterling’s invitation, but he didn’t expect she would invite that man here, making his already cold and handso face even colder.
"Mrs. Spencer, you don’t mind if I invite another person over, do you?" Sumr Nolan asked, looking at her.
