Elias Spencer indeed wanted to reconcile with her and had tried hard, even though she had so many flings with Ian Sterling, he never gave up.

But she didn’t care about him at all.

Sumr Nolan watched his departing figure, unconsciously furrowing her brows slightly. Just let it be, he’s going to tend to his female assistant.

She quickly finished the contract, left the law firm, and went to the Lauder Group, which is only about a half-hour drive from the firm.

Lauder is indeed worthy of being an international luxury group, with its bright and stylish interiors. Every employee is full of energy, chattering away, yet everyone is talking about business. They all dress fashionably and uniquely, completely free from the staid suits and ties.

Working in a place like this should be very fulfilling and motivating, Sumr thought to herself.

The receptionist led her to the door of Chairman Spencer’s office, lightly knocked, and pushed the door open. Behind the desk sat a mature, composed, and cold middle-aged man.

Beside him stood an elegant middle-aged woman, Mrs. Spencer.

"Hello, Chairman Spencer, Mrs. Spencer," Sumr walked in wearing her crisp high heels, greeting them.

Jason Spencer looked over, his gaze appraising her up and down. She wore a black business suit dress, exuding ambition within her professionalism, with a strong aura and calmness. She didn’t behave obsequiously like others, and her appearance was impeccable.

It was quite admirable.

Sumr noticed the way Chairman Spencer inexplicably scrutinized her, furrowing her brows slightly. Does signing a contract require compatibility?

But to be honest, why did Elias Spencer and this Chairman Spencer look sowhat alike?

Must be a coincidence, right?

If his parents were these two people, then he should be working in his family’s group, inheriting the family business, not needed to beco a lawyer and compete with Raymond Dawson for a law firm.

"Have a seat," Jason Spencer said in a deep voice.

Sumr sat on the opposite side of the desk, took the contract out of her bag, and handed it over, "Chairman Spencer, please take a look."

He took it in hand, opened it, glanced through it, and asked her, "How old are you this year, Attorney Nolan?"

"If Chairman Spencer doesn’t trust , there’s actually no need to sign the contract to avoid unpleasant cooperation later."

She laughed, she had plenty of cases in hand, her forr colleagues even called her, giving her a few big clients to entice.

"Attorney Nolan misunderstood, I just wanted to know more about you," Jason Spencer said.

"25," Sumr replied helplessly.

"So young, yet capable. I heard from my wife that you only have your mother and a younger sister at ho now. How did your father pass away?" This needs clarification.

"Does this have anything to do with signing the contract?" she laughed. Are this couple superstitious or sothing? Signing a contract feels like a matchmaking process, asking about age and family.

"Aren’t you my wife’s friend? Just casual chat."

Is Chairman Spencer worried my family background isn’t clean, that I’m a bad person who tricked her wife?

He truly is a good husband. Sumr glanced at Mrs. Spencer, still having a good impression of her, having given her clothes before, and she lied,

"My dad died in an accidental car crash, it’s been ten years, my sister is in college, my mother stays idle at ho."

She answered clearly at once, to avoid them asking one by one.

The couple exchanged a glance, seemingly approving this daughter-in-law.

Although her background is average, it’s quite clean, with a strong career focus, which isn’t a bad thing. It’s better than being aimless, without any ambition.

Jason Spencer picked up his expensive pen, opened the contract, signed it, stamped it with the company seal, and handed it back to her.

Sumr slightly smiled, took out her specialized pen, and signed it too. Who would’ve thought that switching to a competitive law firm would bring her better luck than the previous one?

In such a short ti, she’d secured many big cases, earning a lot.

"Attorney Nolan, let’s have a drink tonight and celebrate," Mrs. Spencer suggested, still a bit uneasy from not managing to arrange for her to et their son last night.

She needs to find a way to get them back together.

"Sure, see you then. I need to get back to the law firm. If there are any legal matters on Chairman Spencer’s side, just call . Here’s my card." With that, she handed over her business card.

-

In the afternoon, both she and Elias Spencer went to Summit. The two worked in the conference room, neither speaking to the other.

Both were quietly doing their own tasks.

Elias Spencer’s neck felt a bit stiff, and he raised his head to move it slightly, his gaze unconsciously falling on her. Seeing the indifferent aura about her, his expression turned somber.

Is she really that heartless?

Doesn’t she have any feelings for him at all?

Does she really want to draw a clear line from him?

"You should leave the law firm," he said deliberately, lighting a cigarette nonchalantly, wanting to force her to obediently comply. Didn’t she compromise last ti when he threatened her like this?

Sumr heard what he said, looked up, and with a calm smile, asked back, "Why should I be the one to leave?"

"Because you have fewer shares and just joined the firm. Do you think those employees would support you?" he asked.

"Sorry, I’m not leaving just because you want to. If Attorney Spencer isn’t willing to coexist peacefully with , then we can only beco enemies. I don’t mind really collaborating with Raymond Dawson," Sumr said sternly.

"You just used Raymond Dawson and secretly frad Sean Sterling, and you think they would tolerate you?" Elias Spencer raised an eyebrow and asked.

Is he threatening ? Sumr looked at him, quietly gritted her teeth, feeling a stab in her chest like a sudden needle prick, slightly painful,

"Then go tell them."

"..." Elias Spencer slightly furrowed his strong brows. Why was she so stubborn this ti?

The conference room door was pushed open at this point, Ian Sterling ca in holding a cup of coffee, looking curiously at the tense atmosphere between them.

Did they have a fight?

Over what?

Whatever it was, it’s good for him!

"I brewed a cup of coffee, take a break after working for a while," he placed the coffee in front of her.

"Thank you," Sumr said to him.

"Join for a few drinks tonight, will you? So much has happened at Summit lately, I’m in a bad mood," Ian Sterling intentionally asked her in front of the other man, wanting to take the opportunity to drive him away.

"Sure," she just wanted to get along well with Ian and obtain the account book, forgetting she had also agreed to Mrs. Spencer.

-

Before leaving work, Ian called her, saying he would be late, needing to deal with so last-minute work.

Just after hanging up, Mrs. Spencer called again, saying she was waiting for her in a private room at the White Horse Clubhouse. Only then did Sumr rember she also had an appointnt with Mrs. Spencer.

It’s not good to back out from either side now, maybe she could have Ian co for a few drinks as well?

On the way, she bought so McDonald’s to eat, then drove to the clubhouse.

In the luxurious large private room, Elias Spencer was called over by his mother. The room was already filled with several people, all business circle bosses.

"Why did you invite so many people?" he sat down next to his mother and asked.
