Lucas did not seem to care about those two, but it was not to the point that he would actually hurt them, right? When she arrived at the infirmary, she imdiately saw the two n she was looking for. Wrapped in bandages, the two were lying down on two separate beds next to each other, with a small table in between them.
"What happened?" Rosalind asked, her brows furrowed. These two were competent fighters. Why would they suddenly co back to a state like this?
"It was a demon," Elias said. "A demon General."
"A demon General?" She imdiately thought of the one in the Edepes Kingdom. Rosalind found a chair and made herself comfortable before she asked, "Tell everything that happened."
Valentin slowly recounted everything that they experienced since they arrived in the vast snows of the north and the things they found out while fighting those monsters.
"So soone had been kidnapping people?" Rosalind was not even surprised to hear about this. Because of the war and the attacks of various beasts, many people had been displaced from their hos. Many were traveling, and naturally, this was the best ti to take them while avoiding anyone's attention.
One could easily claim that those people were attacked by beasts or suffered and died while traveling in the snow.
"We thought so," Valentin answered before he continued.
"He attacked the two of you?" Rosalind thought about the mories that she was able to have. Demon Generals indeed existed on the other side of the continent. However, they should not have any way to cross the barrier— for now. How did that demon co here?
Moreover, was this the demon responsible for summoning those hordes of Demons in Edepes?
Rosalind felt like this was all connected.
"Should we send more soldiers to investigate this matter?" Magda asked.
"No. They would only act as fodder," Rosalind said.
"Then—"
"I do not intend to go. I am certain that Belisarius is currently doing his best to handle this matter. I do not want to intervene." And beco a burden. After all, her abilities were currently erratic. Moreover, that woman's voice was still in her head, echoing against her skull. The voice had been asking her the sa questions over and over and over again, and it was getting tiring.
"Thank you for your help," Rosalind said. "For now, I am going to heal you." She stood and did not wait for them to answer as she used her blessing to heal their wounds. Almost imdiately, the wounds that covered their bodies slowly started to heal at a pace visible to the naked eye. After about five minutes, the wounds were completely gone.
"This is—"
"Rest," Rosalind urged them. "Recover for tonight. We will talk tomorrow." She smiled and then gave Magda so more instructions to make sure that the two were well taken care of.
Once she walked out of the infirmary, she imdiately saw Lucas waiting for her.
"You are back?" she smiled. She did not ask him where he went or what he was doing. She was simply happy that he was back.
"Hmmmm." He took his coat and draped it around her shoulders. "Hungry?"
"I just woke up," Rosalind said. "I ate a few snacks. Do you want to eat sothing?"
"No. How about a stroll to your greenhouse?" he asked. She smiled and nodded.
Then the two of them started walking towards the greenhouse.
"A demon General attacked them," Lucas said. "And the demon is working with Ena Thun. I believe they are using soone as a sacrifice to summon those things inside this continent. Their goal should be breaking the barrier."
Rosalind nodded. "We only have a few hours before the barrier breaks," Rosalind said. For so reason, a part of her did not seem to worry about this matter. "I want to go to the Aster Empire."
"Aster?"
"I want to go to that abandoned temple."
"The one that— Why?" Lucas asked as the two of them walked inside the greenhouse. The greenhouse was just finished, and now, there were people around planting so seeds.
"I need to absorb that demonic energy." Rosalind did not hide her plan. "You said it was stopping the woman from coming out." She explained.
"Is she—"
"Her voice was there when I used my abilities to get rid of that black liquid."
He tightened his lips and remained silent. So, Rosalind turned to observe the man walking beside her. His sharp features beca more defined as the sun's rays gently kissed the side of his face. Chiseled jawline, frad by a neatly trimd beard, exuded an air of rugged charm.
Before he could answer, Rosalind said. "When was the last ti that you slept?" she asked.
"I could no longer rember." A confident and genuine smile played on his lips as he t her eyes.
"…"
"It will not kill ," Lucas assured her.
"I know… I just thought you were more handso when you have sleep."
He arched an eyebrow. "And here I thought you always think I am good-looking. When did it change?"
"…" She turned her head away and focused on the more important things. "I will be going to the temple… please
take there."
"When?" he asked.
"After you had your sleep?"
"Are you not worried that the barrier will break?" he asked. This ti, he looked rather serious.
"No."
"I thought the voice was back? Is she… telling you to save this continent?" there was a hint of hesitation in his voice. Sothing that she imdiately noticed.
"No," Rosalind shook her head. She disliked talking about the woman inside her, but she did not want to hide things from him. "She is telling to run."
"The voice is telling you to run?"
She nodded at that. "She also asked why was I trying to save the continent. Why am I doing this." She looked at him. "Is there sothing wrong?" This was the first ti that she specifically told him about the words that the woman told her, so she expected so surprise on his part but not like this. No…. She never expected him to stare at her as if… as if he was about to celebrate sothing.
Why does he look elated?
