Chapter 431: Chapter 431: Taking the Initiative
"Yes, logically, with the strength of the Ten Thousand Poisons Sect, they’d surely be in hot pursuit."
Ruonan mumbled.
Yang Cheng furrowed his brow, suddenly turned around, and headed back.
"What’s wrong? Did you think of something?"
Qi Yue asked curiously.
"Those people earlier were probably just probing things out. I quickly noticed them approaching, so they’re planning to change targets."
Yang Cheng looked serious and began flooring the accelerator.
"Are you saying they’ve set their sights on Jiulong Mountain Villa?"
Lin Er’s voice trembled slightly, her body tensing.
"I guess so, but don’t worry, Manor Master Ye won’t be unprepared."
Yang Cheng reassured softly.
"Let’s hurry back; those people are definitely going to try to capture my mom and force us to comply!"
Lin Er’s mind was in turmoil, tightly clenching her fists until her fingertips turned white.
"Don’t worry, I know a shortcut. If we chase them now, we can stop them and take care of it."
Yang Cheng initially intended to avoid confronting these people, but since they planned to change targets, he had no choice but to act proactively.
Lin Er nodded, but her heart remained uneasy as she hurriedly dialed Ye Xixue’s number.
After a while, Ye Xixue answered the call, anxiously asking, "Lin Er, calling me so early, are you in some sort of trouble?"
"Yang Cheng has been protecting me closely, so I’m safe now, but I’m really worried about you."
Lin Er’s voice was somewhat choked.
"I told you on the phone before, I’m safe. Your dad has sent experts to protect me, and my room has a secret passage. If anyone breaks in, I can temporarily hide there."
Ye Xixue smiled in reassurance.
As the Manor Master of Jiulong Mountain Villa, how could she be just a pretty face? Since she could stay securely here, dealing tactfully with Murong Hai, she must have absolute life-saving measures.
Back when Yang Cheng warned her, she had already called that man, and sure enough, two very skilled experts were soon sent to guard her in shifts.
Hearing Ye Xixue’s words, Lin Er finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"That’s good, but you should still be extra careful. The forces behind Murong Hai are powerful, never confront them head-on."
Lin Er advised.
"Got it, don’t worry, little housekeeper!"
Ye Xixue smiled with appreciation.
After hanging up the phone, Lin Er finally felt a sense of calm return.
Actually, her mom had never told her father’s true identity, but his background was undoubtedly strong, so the people he sent were definitely reliable.
If they could catch up in time and deal with those assassins, there would be no threat to her mother for a while.
"Yang Cheng, should we call for more help? It’s too dangerous to act so rashly."
Lin Er’s beautiful eyes were filled with concern.
Previously, when Yang Cheng dealt with the Ten Thousand Poisons Sect cultivators, Lin Er stayed in the car and didn’t see it, but Ruonan witnessed it firsthand.
"Calling people for help is useless, it would only increase casualties. With Yang Cheng’s abilities, unless the Sect Leader is called, no one else will be his match."
Though Ruonan was uncertain of Yang Cheng’s true strength, the fact that he could break through the Five Poison Array with a wave and turn those assassins into a pool of blood was proof enough.
"You’re very confident in him."
Lin Er glanced at Ruonan discontentedly, feeling somewhat uncomfortable.
At this moment, Yang Cheng drove into a muddy path, causing the car to shake violently.
"Hang tight!"
As Yang Cheng spoke, the three fastened their seatbelts, grabbed onto the handles, tensing their bodies.
Having crossed the muddy path, they were confronted by a field of tall wild grass.
"Are you sure this is the way, you didn’t get lost?"
Qi Yue asked skeptically.
"No, this is truly a shortcut; the road is just too rough, so no one bothers taking it anymore."
Yang Cheng was unequivocal, continuing to drive further in.
After what felt like an eternity, the car finally emerged from the wild grass, with the view clearing up. In front of them was indeed a main road.
"We’ve really reached the vicinity of Peach Blossom County."
Lin Er pointed excitedly at the big words ’Peach Blossom County’ in the distance.
"Looks like the assassins haven’t arrived yet, should we hide now?"
Qi Yue inquired.
"You’re not a cultivator yet; you can’t fight those Ten Thousand Poisons Sect members. Just stay in the car and protect Lin Er; Ruonan and I will deal with them."
Yang Cheng kept the car off the main road and reversed a short distance, concealing it amidst the wild grass.
"Alright, but be safe."
Qi Yue knew her skill was quite impressive among ordinary people, but facing actual cultivators was totally different.
As Ruonan got out, she clasped Qi Yue’s hand, offering a slight smile: "Sister, wait for me to come back."
Having just reunited, a short separation felt unsettling for the sisters.
Watching Ruonan and Yang Cheng’s retreating figures, she silently prayed, staying vigilant of her surroundings.
After Yang Cheng exited the vehicle, he moved a massive stone from the roadside to the middle of the road and tossed on some broken tree branches.
After completing this, the two concealed themselves by the roadside, waiting for the prey to appear.
Not long after, Yang Cheng heard the sound of cars approaching, slowing to a stop.
With a thought, Yang Cheng activated X-ray Vision, scrutinizing the two cars ahead.
As the cars halted, several men disembarked, intending to move the stone away.
"Damn! Who put this stone in the middle of the road? They’re causing a delay!"
One man complained, with several others struggling to lift the stone.
Judging by their outfits and speech, they seemed like ordinary workers, with nothing seemingly amiss.
Yet, upon examining inside one of the cars’ interiors, Yang Cheng spotted a woman with a strikingly seductive appearance.
The woman’s eyes were slender, slightly upturned, with a mesmerizing amber hue, as if one more glance could be captivating.
Something’s off! This is very off.
Ruonan also scrutinized the group, but they wore caps, keeping their heads lowered and faces hidden.
"There’s a woman in the car, quite beautiful, with amber-colored eyes, do you recognize her?"
Yang Cheng whispered cautiously.
Ruonan widened her eyes in disbelief: "Could it be Ziyan? How could the Sect Leader send her?"
"Looks like they’re indeed from the Ten Thousand Poisons Sect; we can’t let them escape."
As they managed to remove the stone, Yang Cheng suddenly attacked, simultaneously flicking several pebbles to precisely strike their vital points.
"Ah!"
They groaned in pain, limbs numbing, collapsing to their knees.
"We’ve been ambushed!"
One man shouted, painstakingly trying to rise, yet his body refused to cooperate.
