Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Hosick Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Hosick Sean Knight bought so vegetables, at, and seasonings from the supermarket.

Aunt Susan saw Sean and greeted him with a smile.

Sean said:

“I bought so vegetables and at, can I use your kitchen to cook a al?”

“No problem!” Aunt Susan was very curious, “I have heard that Chinese cuisine is very unique, and I’m excited to experience it.”

Sean smiled, washed his hands, and began to prepare the ingredients.

Most of the fish in Arica are sea fish, and there are no freshwater fish with lots of bones.

Sean made scrambled eggs with green peppers, boiled fish slices, double-cooked pork, and stead a pot of rice.

After preparing the dishes, he arranged a tray and sent so of each dish to Susan’s side of the house.

Before knocking on the door, he heard two people talking inside. When the door opened, Sean saw a beautiful girl with freckles on her face looking curiously at him.

“You must be Linda? I’m Sean Knight, your mom’s tenant. These are the dishes I cooked; please try them.”

Linda had naturally heard of Sean before, but after looking at him, her attention focused entirely on the fragrant dishes, and she asked in astonishnt:

“Did you make these?”

“Yes.”

Sean was already hungry and didn’t feel like chatting further, so he handed over the dishes and turned to leave.

“How is it? I told you Sean was great, right?” Aunt Susan was proud, “Being able to cook such delicious food, he must be a good person!”

Linda couldn’t help but laugh.

Her mother’s theory was really strange.

However, the taste of the food was excellent!

As the mother and daughter carefully tasted the dishes, they marveled at Sean’s cooking skills.

Sean, on the other hand, was video chatting with Joanna Davis while eating.

When Joanna learned that Sean had sent a portion of the food to his landlord and that there was also a daughter in the landlord’s family, she instantly beca unhappy:

“When I co over tomorrow or the day after, you have to make a portion for ! Exactly the sa!”

Sean chuckled; girls all over the world seem to act the sa when jealous.

He nodded vigorously, pretending to be serious:

“No problem, I’ll make you a double portion and even add an extra dish!”

“Good, that’s settled!” Joanna’s mood improved just by hearing about the additional dish.

After chatting for a while, Joanna reluctantly ended the video call because her mother had called her.

Sean put down his mobile phone and just had a few bites when the phone rang again. It was a call from Monica Brown.

Sean was puzzled; why was she calling?

Upon answering, Monica politely greeted him before saying:

“The day after tomorrow, there will be a jadeite raw stone auction in the Chinese District. Do you want to join?”

Sean was ecstatic at first – he definitely wanted to join sothing like that!

However, he imdiately sensed sothing was off and asked Monica:

“Isn’t jadeite popular only among Chinese people? Aricans don’t appreciate it, so who is so… arrogant to bring raw stones over here to auction?”

Monica replied:

“The person who commissioned to find potential clients is a friend of my father. He is from Taiwan.

You know that there are two famous Chinese won most fond of jadeite…”

“I know.” Sean naturally knew the story and chuckled, “One is from the Late Qing era, and the other is Mada Chiang Kai-shek!”

Hearing Sean say “Chiang Kai-shek,” Monica, who knew the reference, couldn’t help but laugh before continuing:

“Mada Chiang lived here in her later years, so my father’s friend thought that so Chinese won here should like jadeite.

So he brought a batch over and even opened a shop here. But after several years, none of the jadeite sold.

With the economic downturn in recent years, his funds were running low, so he decided to auction off a batch of raw stones to retrieve his investnt and then return ho.”

Upon knowing the whole story, Sean asked for the ti and location and readily agreed to attend.

Monica felt awkward just hanging up, so she asked Sean what he was doing. Sean laughed and said that he had finally found so free ti to cook a hotown al and was in the process of enjoying it.

Monica Brown couldn’t help but hang up the phone, feeling embarrassed.

She was curious, though. Sean Knight could cook Chinese food?

It had been so long since she had a proper, ho-cooked al!

Thinking about the dishes her family used to prepare, Monica couldn’t help but swallow her saliva.

She and Emily Taylor never cook at ho because they don’t know how!

Seeing that Monica had hung up and wasn’t speaking, Emily asked:

“What happened? He didn’t agree? Is he afraid of being exposed and not daring to co?”

Monica ca to her senses, shook her head, and said:

“He agreed.”

“Then you…”

Monica’s voice was a bit low:

“I…I miss ho, I want to eat the dishes my mom used to make…”

Emily was stunned for a mont and gently hugged Monica, saying:

“Let’s go to the Chinese District tomorrow. I rember there’s a Howard’s Restaurant that’s pretty authentic. I’ll treat you.”

Monica shook her head and didn’t say anything.

Sean didn’t know that his casual comnt had touched Monica deeply. At the mont, he was full and suddenly didn’t feel like moving.

How satisfying!

Mr. John called:

“There’s a warehouse auction nearby tomorrow, are you going? There are also so containers to be auctioned off, though it’s just two small freight yards.”

Sean thought about it and said:

“I’ll go to the warehouse auction.”

Mr. John sent the address of the warehouse auction, and Sean noted it down.

He had originally planned to ask the mysterious Robert about it, but he decided not to.

Everyone has their secrets, and professional fields need confidentiality. It’s better not to ask.

It would be troubleso if they had to eliminate the source of a leak.

Soon, Linda Jenkins ca in, bringing Sean so fruit.

Putting down the fruit, Linda didn’t leave, but instead asked curiously:

“I heard from my mom that you’re a treasure hunter?”

“Yes.” Sean said while twirling his pen: “I’ve just started in the field.”

“Is it exciting?” Linda asked again, “I heard that people find valuable things in containers every day.”

Sean thought about it and shook his head:

“Actually, it’s not what you’d imagine. After all, many warehouses are abandoned because the owners can’t afford the rent.

If there were a lot of valuable things inside, why would the owner abandon it?

It’s only a small number of owners who disappear, go bankrupt, or have an accident and cannot claim the container that you get the chance to find a bargain.”

Only a small amount of information is deliberately hidden by people who get rich overnight, and they only spread the parts they want to be heard or what others are willing to listen to.

Just like gambling on stones, there are far fewer stones that increase in value compared to those that decrease in value. But why are the stories of people getting rich from gambling on stones so much more common?

Linda didn’t expect Sean to say this, and she was a little surprised.

Young people, especially treasure hunters, usually brag about their achievents when asked about them by beautiful girls, right?

This Sean was quite special!

Looking at Sean twirling his pen, Linda curiously asked:

“Is this a talent of you Chinese people? There are Chinese international students in our school who can do this too, it’s cool.”

Sean chuckled.

He shook his head and said:

“This is just a ga to pass ti and exercise our fingers when we’re bored, nothing more.”
