The castle renovation had been progressing rapidly over the past few days, and the outer layer of the first floor was already taking shape. Sean Knight was very pleased. After leaving the experts under Lincoln Harrington’s watch, he took Elijah Hastings, Douglas Cooper, and a few team mbers to the forest for a hunting expedition!

Viola was also excited to join them—she had even purchased a hunting outfit specifically for the trip. Seeing the tall and slender girl in her tight hunting gear, Sean couldn’t help but be amused.

It really was a pity that this girl wasn’t a model.

Of course, her natural armor was much thicker than many supermodels, which was certainly an advantage!

The group walked into the forest with many carrying backpacks, planning to spend several days living out in the wild for the hunt.

They were also exploring what ga was available in the forest leased by Sean and how to develop a hunting ground.

As the group ventured deeper into the jungle, twisting and turning, they soon lost sight of the castle behind them.

Carrying a freshly cleaned Mosin-Nagant sniper rifle and with his "Sky Eye" active, Sean scanned the surroundings.

Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks and raised his rifle.

The nearby team mbers imdiately beca vigilant.

"Boss, what do you see?" Douglas whispered from beside him.

"Feels like... a bear!"

Sean truly did see a bear!

Not far ahead, a black bear was crouched near a patch of shrubbery, reaching for berries to feed itself.

In this season, there were many things edible in the jungle, and the black bear was fattened up, its body swaying as it moved.

It was about 200 ters away from Sean and the others, but due to the cover of birch and pine trees along with the shrubbery, the others hadn’t noticed it.

Wanting to test the power of the rifle, Sean slowly moved to find the best shooting angle, then carefully aid at the bear’s head and gently squeezed the trigger!

"Bang!"

As Sean fired the shot, he felt sothing was off—

However, an incredibly rare event occurred just as he pulled the trigger: a bird flew into the bullet’s path and was struck down. The bullet still carried its montum toward the bear but slightly missed its mark!

The bullet that should have fatally struck the bear rely clipped its right ear, spattering blood everywhere!

The bear’s ferocity was instantly provoked, and it violently rose up, roaring twice in Sean’s direction before charging on all fours toward them!

Although the bear couldn’t see Sean and his team, it knew the attacker was in this direction!

"The bear’s coming, on guard, prepare to shoot!" Sean shouted, not bothering with his annoyance.

By then, the movents of the bear had already captured the team mbers’ attention—most of them were ard with old-fashioned rifles—hunting with these rifles was more flavorful!

The bear burst through the shrubbery, and upon clearing the visibility, paused for a mont in confusion, expecting only one or two enemies, but was greeted by many more!

However, it no longer cared about that and targeted the nearest team mber to attack!

Then...

There was no after.

With a series of gunshots, the bear was fatally struck by hatred.

So team mbers imdiately stepped forward, sliced open the bear with bayonets to extract the bear gallbladder, and began butchering for at.

With several team mbers helping, the bear was quickly dissected.

The useful parts were taken, though most of it was left behind.

The bear weighed two to three hundred kilograms, with at least 100 kilograms of at retrievable, which was too much for the group to consu.

For their first day of hunting, and only a few kiloters from the castle, Sean had Elijah contact the castle to arrange for people to drag the bear at back for consumption at the campground.

They then continued to advance.

As they moved forward, the terrain started to steepen and mountains began to appear ahead. Although not tall, these mountains were covered with large, ancient-looking trees.

The team mbers had been instructed that since they ca to hunt, they had to follow commands and avoid making unnecessary noise.

It must be said, the resources here were incredibly abundant. Soon, their second prey appeared—or rather, the second group of prey—four deer.

After shooting one, they let the rest go.

Later on, Sean and his team caught quite a few small ga species, including wild rabbits, wild chickens, and badgers amongst others.

Even Viola, with guidance from Sean, managed to secure a plump wild rabbit.

At noon, the team rested about ten kiloters from the castle and had a picnic. With plenty of ga caught, so knowledgeable team mbers suggested smoking the ga on pine branches.

Seeing this as a good solution, Sean did not intervene. Instead, he leisurely walked through the shrubbery with Viola, picking wild berries. The forest was rich in blueberries and other edible berries, scaring off the small animals nibbling nearby as they approached.

After the al, they did not stray far, just circled the nearby area. The team mbers were highly enthusiastic about hunting, but Sean refrained from using his gun again.

After all, the Mosin-Nagant had quite a kickback; his use of the rifle for hunting was primarily driven by curiosity.

As they walked, Sean began to sense sothing peculiar.

Beneath the ground here, why were there fragnts of iron wares?

And so remnants of buildings?

But those structures were mostly made of a combination of grass and mud, now only leaving so subtle traces that were hard to detect.

Beneath the surface, aside from so weapon fragnts, there were also human bones present. This was indeed intriguing!
