Chapter 48: Studying Openly
Lin Yun was helpless with his brother’s decision and chose to comply in the end. He shifted his attention to the bundle of at that the villager had left behind.
"Brother, how about this? What do you plan to do with it?"
Lin Xiao glanced down at the bundle of the at. He tilted his head. "The elders wouldn’t think of poisoning us, right?"
"Why would he want to do that?"
"Let’s check it out first."
Taking the bundle of the at, Lin Xiao walked into the residence. He could see Wenren Yu walked out of Lin Yun’s room and glanced at the bundle. His brows creased, sign of him thinking hard.
"What is it, Wenren Yu?"
"Can I see it first?"
"Sure."
Opening the bundle, they could see that the at was no longer in good condition. There was a mix of foul sll along with nice aroma from the cooked at. The elders didn’t store the at properly yesterday.
"It’s unappetizing," Lin Xiao comnted.
Lin Yun nodded. Normally, they would have been happy to receive even a little bit of at and would not think of throwing it away. But after Lin Xiao frequently went to hunt on his own, they no longer thought the sa.
The fresh and juicy at that Lin Xiao hunted by himself tasted much better than the dried at. Even though they had to limit the amount they eat each ti, it was still much better than the village had ever provided for them.
Wenren Yu sighed at the sight of the at. "If you don’t want to get sick, I suggest you to throw this away."
"It’s that bad?"
"It might be the spice, but the mix of the herbs along with the rotten at will create stomachache or even indigestion. As you might have known, even cultivators are not invulnerable against so sickness," Wenren Yu explained.
While it was rare for cultivators to get sick, it was not like they were completely invincible. Lin Xiao knew that there were so kind of sickness that they could have even when they were already high rank. As for those at body training, it was even more common.
They were all only at body training stage, so they needed to take care of their body well.
"In that case, I’ll throw it away to the cliff."
"I’ll do it."
"No, you stay inside." Lin Xiao took the bundle and ran out even before Lin Yun could respond. With his quick reflex, there was no way Lin Yun could catch up with him.
Seeing how his brother had run out, Lin Yun was speechless.
"Isn’t he still wounded?" Wenren Yu asked in doubtful tone.
"Brother is always so lively."
"Indeed."
...
The next day, Lin Xiao and Lin Yun headed to the village again. Wenren Yu stayed still inside the residence without any intention to get out. He didn’t want to court trouble with the representatives and their disciples.
Upon their arrival, the two realized that the two disciples were openly demonstrating their skills on the field and allowed the villagers to study. However, they didn’t teach one by one and rely repeated the move on the stage.
"Brother, why are you looking that way?" Lin Yun was surprised when he saw his brother looked towards Moon Evasion’s side. There were fewer people there because many of them thought of running away as a disgrace.
"It’s more important."
"I’ll learn it too, then."
"Ok."
Lin Xiao could see so villagers looked at him as if he was a strange person. Most of them would place higher importance to attack skill because it could protect themselves. The Tiger Punch that Luo Lan showed was easier to learn compared to Mountain Punch, so many of them rushed to learn.
Learning a skill or two wouldn’t hurt.
As for Lin Xiao, he wanted to learn how to evade in order to be able to run away when he offended soone of high rank. Against soone who was at much higher rank than him, he would have no other choice but to run.
And to be able to run faster than his pursuer, he had to make sure that he learned the proper skill for that.
Moon Evasion answered his longing.
The third disciple at the stage, whose na Lin Xiao still didn’t know, seed to flicker and then disappeared from his place. When he appeared again, he was already one ter’s away from his original place.
He was silent and didn’t even bother explaining to the villagers, but Lin Xiao chose to pay attention to the disciple’s movent. The flow of Qi was not that clear from this distance, but there was slight movent that the third disciple made before he could execute the move.
"Why didn’t he move again?" a villager asked, hoping to see the disciple execute the skill again so that he could learn.
"He could only do it once in a while. You just need to wait and be patient because he won’t warn you when he executes the skill."
"That’s... hard."
With no other choice, the villagers who wanted to learn had to wait for the third disciple to start moving and executing his skill again.
Lin Xiao was also included, but he was patient. Days of hunting had taught him that the most important skill to have was to be patient and make sure that he didn’t do anything out of the line. The prey wouldn’t get close if he made racket and noises.
