Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Steak Must Be Well-Done. Healthy.
"Get outta here! I’m busy. If you have something to say, just spit it out..."
The call was from her best friend, Su Tantan. Realizing Su Tantan had guessed what she was up to, Bai Menghan’s face instantly flushed red. Still, she stubbornly denied it.
"Busy, huh? Don’t tell me you two are... doing it? Holy crap, girl, you’re not *that* shameless, are you? Why the hell would you answer my call in the middle of that?! Oh my god, I’m choking on all this PDA!!"
Without even waiting for Bai Menghan to respond, the ever-blunt Su Tantan just said, "I’ll let you two get back to it, I’ll let you two get back to it," and promptly hung up.
"Uh... who was that? She’s a bit..."
Fang Chenyi had heard everything on the call loud and clear. After she hung up, he asked, at a bit of a loss for words.
’That woman on the phone is a wild one. You can just tell she’s got a dirty mind.’
"And you have the nerve to ask? This is all your fault, insisting on doing this in broad daylight... I’m doomed, I’m doomed! Tantan has such a big mouth. Now everyone’s going to know..."
As she spoke, Bai Menghan pulled the blanket over her head in embarrassment.
"Uh... so what if they know? You’re single, I’m single. We’re not doing anything wrong, so who cares what people say? Hehe, but since things are already like this, shouldn’t we... hehe."
RING RING RING...
Just then, Bai Menghan’s phone rang again.
"Damn it, what kind of asshole calls at a time like this! I swear to God, I hope you don’t have a dick!"
Peeking her head out from under the blanket, Bai Menghan answered the phone, not forgetting to shoot Fang Chenyi a glare.
"What is it now, girl?!"
"Hehe, sorry to interrupt your ’fun time’ again. Uhm, I just wanted to ask what you’re doing for dinner. Need me to order for you? Of course, if you don’t need me to order, I wouldn’t mind if you just brought something back for me."
Hearing the same female voice from the phone, Fang Chenyi couldn’t help but mutter, "Uh... well damn, I guess that one doesn’t need a curse to be dickless..."
Hearing Fang Chenyi’s muttering, Bai Menghan shot him another annoyed glare before saying to Su Tantan on the phone, "Okay, okay, I’ll bring you back something good to eat... I’m really busy right now, so I gotta go."
...
BEEP BEEP BEEP.
Hearing the dial tone, Su Tantan—who was sitting on her balcony in a small camisole, watching a livestream on her laptop—couldn’t help but pump her fist. A triumphant smile crept onto her lips.
’Heh, you little rascal. I don’t even need a brain to know you must be having dinner with that rich guy right now. And if a rich guy is treating you, it’s not going to be some simple meal. No way.’
What she didn’t know, however, was that the reality of the situation was exactly what she had just been joking about...
...
Back in the villa, Fang Chenyi watched Bai Menghan hang up. He rubbed his hands together eagerly and asked, "Xiao Hanhan, you’re still going home today? I got this house for us!"
"Of course I’m going home. We aren’t married; people will talk if we move in together now. Besides, even if I were to move in, I’d still have to go back and pack my things."
Fang Chenyi was about to argue with the first half of her sentence, but when she got to the second part, a mischievous grin spread across his face. "Hehe, alright then! Let’s not waste any more time in bed. Let’s go pack and move you in right now!"
Seeing how eager he was, Bai Menghan pouted. "You perv, who said anything about moving in...?"
But before she could finish, Fang Chenyi had already jumped out of bed. He started putting on his jacket while hurrying Bai Menghan, who was still lounging on the bed.
"Hurry up, Xiao Hanhan! Let’s go move your stuff first, let’s go! We can get back to... *that*... when we get back."
"In your dreams!"
Hearing his shameless suggestion, Bai Menghan cried out playfully and grabbed the nearest pillow, throwing it at the mischievously grinning Fang Chenyi.
Ten minutes later, the two walked out of the villa, snuggled close together. After fooling around all afternoon, they were both getting hungry. They hopped into the Lamborghini and headed out of the neighborhood.
At Fang Chenyi’s insistence, they found a rather elegant Western restaurant.
This time, since both Fang Chenyi and Bai Menghan were decked out in expensive designer brands, none of the usual cliché drama occurred.
Warmly welcomed by the staff, the two ordered a couple’s set menu priced at 8,888.
"Sir, how would you like your Wagyu steak prepared? Since it’s a top-grade steak flown in by air, we recommend somewhere between medium-rare and medium to best preserve its tenderness and flavor."
When the waiter finished, Fang Chenyi waved his hand dismissively. "Make mine and hers well-done. Why would we eat it medium-rare? It’s all bloody. You probably haven’t even killed all the germs!"
Fang Chenyi’s voice wasn’t loud, but it wasn’t quiet either. The guests at the two adjacent tables—who had ordered medium-rare steaks to show off and appear sophisticated—all froze when they heard him.
They looked down at the steaks on their own plates, which were still streaked with red, and suddenly found they couldn’t take another bite.
"Excuse me, waiter! Over here! Could you please take this back and cook it some more? Make sure it’s cooked all the way through before you bring it back. That guy’s right, it’s safer to eat it fully cooked..."
...
After a Western-style meal that cost 8,888, Fang Chenyi felt it wasn’t nearly as satisfying as an 88-per-person buffet.
Especially that caviar and foie gras stuff. The texture was all mushy; it wasn’t good at all.
He grabbed a disposable napkin from the side of the table and wiped his mouth. "Xiao Hanhan, are you full?"
"Mhm, I’m finished." She then called to the waiter, "Excuse me, could we get one of the eighty-yuan steaks to go? Please don’t add it to our bill; we’ll pay for it separately."
"Uh, you’re not full?"
Fang Chenyi was taken aback that Bai Menghan had ordered another steak. ’Who would’ve thought?’ he mused. ’This girl is so slim and delicate, but she can really eat.’
"You’re the one who’s not full! This is for Tantan."
Hearing this, Fang Chenyi remembered that she had indeed promised to bring something back for her best friend. At that, he waved his hand and spoke to the waiter, who was still placing the order.
"Wait, hold on. Cancel that steak. Uhm, just pack up another one of our set menus to go."
The waiter’s heart leaped with joy. ’This handsome guy is such a huge spender!’
"Of course, sir. And just to confirm, you’d like the steak well-done, correct...?"
