Capítulo 903: Extra Story 1

“This is Eleanor,” Aske introduced to his mother.

“Little Ellie, right?” The old lady said with a laugh.

Eleanor: ???

Although she understood the aning, the way she was addressed felt a bit off.

The first al with their parents was held at Nora’s residence in the Lysine Building, prepared by the Holy Daughter herself. They didn’t opt for Fire Island because the concept of a half-plane was too difficult for the elderly to fathom.

Aske’s mother couldn’t stop praising Nora’s exquisite cooking skills. Eleanor, on the other hand, was a bit nervous, wanting to showcase her own dostic virtues by helping Nora cook, and thus joined her in the kitchen.

While both daughters-in-law were busy in the kitchen, the old lady turned to Aske and asked seriously:

“Tell , son. Which daughter-in-law do you actually prefer?”

Aske: ???

“There’s no preference, really…” He was about to say he treated them equally when he saw his mother’s eyes widen, “But if they ever argue, who would you support?”

“They get along well; they won’t argue,” Aske replied.

“Arguing is inevitable; even couples argue!” His mother said earnestly, advising him that she thought both ladies were adept socially and might not be the type he could handle simultaneously.

Given that there are kids involved now, they should carry on like this for the ti being. Just in case problems arise in the future, don’t end up not being able to keep either, and you beco a divorced middle-aged man with two kids!

Aske said, “What are you on about? You don’t understand our situation, so don’t jump to conclusions.”

His mother replied that she was only looking out for him. If he truly preferred one of the ladies, he should tell her so she could help him maintain close ties. Although this might be unfair to the other girl, it can’t be helped… If the two of them truly have an irreconcilable argunt and can’t stand each other, keeping one is better than none.

Aske was speechless and could only honestly say he had no particular preference, that he loved both. Asking her “What should I do?”

anwhile, in the kitchen, Eleanor was helping wash vegetables, as the Will Fog had already picked up the conversation between the mother and son outside.

She lifted her head and saw Nora closing the lid on a pot, smiling at her.

“His mom is quite adorable,” Eleanor said, “worried we might argue.”

“Argunts are inevitable,” Nora laughed in response.

“Yeah, but we’ve never really had an irreconcilable fight,” Eleanor mused. “If such a situation arose, who do you think dear would support?”

“Probably ,” Nora pondered, “since I’m seen as weaker and might look like I’m bullied by you.”

“No, no, I think it would be ,” Eleanor confidently stated, “you’re much smarter than I am, so it’d likely be getting bullied.”

“Why don’t we make a bet?” Nora suggested.

“On what?” Eleanor asked, “Pretend to argue?”

“And then see how he reacts,” Nora said with a smile.

“His mom is still here, let’s wait until she’s gone,” Eleanor shook her head.

She continued washing vegetables while Nora turned down the heat and started seasoning.

A mont later, Nora put the lid back on and said:

“Actually, he might not support either of us.”

Eleanor fell silent.

“Indeed, he’d probably play dumb,” Eleanor replied.

“Such a typical guy,” Nora sighed.

Soon, the dishes were all prepared and the two erged from the kitchen to sit down. Two-year-old Mike and Maksi sat in high chairs by the window, giggling and drooling, eyeing the dishes on the table.

The old lady was reluctant to eat herself; she rose first to feed her two grandsons. Aske anwhile was enjoying his al, picking food with his chopsticks with great delight. Eleanor sat on his right, her thoughts still occupied by the question overheard in the kitchen.

“Dear,” she suddenly hugged Aske’s arm, whispering, “what if Nora and I had an argunt, who would you support?”

“Huh?” Aske was taken aback, “Why would you argue?”

“Over ti managent or sothing,” Eleanor casually gave an example.

“Isn’t ti managent already settled?” Aske said. “First half of the month in Solomon City, second half in Aachen.”

“I’m just giving an example,” Eleanor was persistent, “if we argued and it was irreconcilable, and you could only choose one to support, who would it be?”

“Well…” Aske was at a loss when his left arm was also grabbed by Nora.

“Dear, I want to know that too,” the Holy Daughter said sweetly. “Don’t you think if we argued, Eleanor would likely be bullying ? After all, she’s strong and I just offer a little support skill. If you don’t stand by , she might hit .”

“No, no.” Eleanor tightened her grip on his arm, “Dear, don’t forget who threatened with excommunication at our wedding? In terms of status and power, Nora is way above . Don’t you think you should support ?”

“The excommunication was never executed,” Nora said tactfully. “But you, Eleanor, used the baby as an excuse to lure darling and to Aachen Hospital. I still rember that matter.”

“First of all, that wasn’t a trick; I really was asking for help,” Eleanor said solemnly. “Secondly, you were the one who, after darling and I got married, used the pretense of a private eting to forcibly get him on a plane and take him away, wasn’t it?”

“Why not have Aske’s mother weigh in?” Nora thought, “I once saved your child, and now you’re treating like this? Too much!”

“Sure, let’s have her weigh in.” Eleanor thought, “I was the first to marry Aske, surely his mother wouldn’t stand by your side, would she?”

So the two of them stood up to go find the old lady, but Aske dared not let them approach her and quickly grabbed them each by the arm, pulling them back to their seats.

“Don’t argue,” Aske tried to play the responsible man, “Let bygones be bygones. If necessary, just consider it my mistake.”

“You’re protecting her?” Eleanor suddenly seed a bit aggrieved.

“Protecting you, rather.” Nora didn’t shy away.

Well, both seem to think it’s each other’s fault. Now that I’ve taken the bla, they both think I’m siding with the other.

Realizing his faux pas, Aske quickly activated his survival instinct, his mind racing for a distraction.

Topic Shifting Technique! Quick, think of a topic to divert their attention.

Suddenly, he had a brainwave and asked:

“How are we sleeping tonight? All together?”

The old lady, having finished feeding the grandsons, turned to grab more food, only to see her two daughters-in-law smiling brightly at her. Her son sat between them, sporting a forced smile.

“What’s up with you all, continue eating!” the mother said with a smile, “Don’t mind , I’ll feed the grandsons first.”

“Yes, everyone, dig in,” Aske could only join in with a bright grin.

Under the table, Eleanor and Nora each pinched Aske’s soft waist flesh from opposite sides, venting their anger with firm twisting motions.
