Revive Rome: Wait! Why not make the empress fall in love with me first? Chapter 606: 116 The Omniscient
Chapter 606: Chapter 116 The Omniscient
“We’ve arrived,” Sherry said.
At that mont, the vehicle had stopped in the middle of the mountain road, next to a border marker that read “Calabria” on one side and “Basilicata” on the other.
In other words, this was the boundary between the two regions. Sherry had promised to take them to the Calabria Region and had indeed done just that, stopping right at the boundary line, not a step further.
“Sherry…” Miel hesitated.
“I’m done playing; continue your lovey-dovey world with your boyfriend,” Sherry huffed and then disappeared from the driver’s seat.
The Demigod had bolted.
“Aske,” Miel said sowhat helplessly.
“Let’s get everyone out here,” Aske responded calmly and instructed.
Miel then teleported back to Fire Island. After about fifteen minutes, everyone erged one after the other.
“Weren’t we supposed to arrive by noon?” dea yawned nonstop, covering her mouth and said, “Aske, it’s only 4 a.m. now!”
“The plan has been moved up,” Aske said earnestly, “We’re going to launch a night raid on the Norman people.”
The girls: …….
Great, the plan’s been moved up, Wasn’t the plan set by us together last night? If you say it’s moved up, then what’s the point of making plans in the future? Might as well leave all the on-the-spot decisions to our Squad Leader!
Of course, while they grumbled internally, no one actually said anything—mostly, everyone was just unhappy about being woken up early.
As they advanced along the mountain road, Aske led the way, with the girls following close behind him, gradually splitting into two distinct groups:
dea and Miel walked on the left, with Mia and Sigrdrifa following the pair; Eleanor walked on the right, outside of the mountain path, with Nora and Thira beside her. Both sides maintained a certain distance, with only Peggy sticking close behind Aske.
Aske turned his head and glanced at their subtly ford factions, frowning.
dea and Miel exchanged a look, tacitly remaining silent. Nora and Thira, however, looked at him in confusion.
“What’s going on?” Eleanor, the last to catch on, asked outright.
“What’s with this formation?” Aske asked.
“There’s no particular formation, just walking,” dea said with a smile.
“What do you an ‘no particular formation’?” Aske glared, “Where’s the combat formation? The reconnaissance? The wing protection? The support? Did you forget everything I taught you?!!”
Everyone broke out in a sweat. Indeed, after staying a month in Solomon City, they had lost all the habits cultivated from outdoor combat.
So, the girls scrambled to get into position. Mia rushed to the front for reconnaissance, Eleanor and Sigrdrifa guarded the flanks of the procession, separating the other girls from the front line. Peggy stayed in the center of the team for support, with Thira, dea, and Nora dispersed within her support range, while Miel carried her sniper rifle at the rear, occasionally observing changes in the world line.
For the entire team, this was just the first mission after a long rest, employed by the Church Court to expel the invading Norman people, with the paynt being divine empowernt for three team mbers—and it was already paid in advance.
In truth, the real objective for dea’s camp was to investigate the “Earth-shaking Wolf” relic owned by the Otwell Family. Based on Miel’s future observations, at least she, Mia, and Sigrdrifa were set to benefit from this mission.
This also marked their first attempt at independent action—not relying entirely on the Squad Leader’s arrangents and plans but beginning to seek their own paths to promotion and strength. This was one of the efforts they had to make to challenge the Nora camp, which undoubtedly had far superior power, heritage, and resources. Unless the Squad Leader changed his impartial stance, there was no chance for them to overtake the other side.
Of course, in front of Aske, they could easily package this operation and its fruits as a so-called “adventure.”
They just happened to find a similar “relic” in the Otwell Family, which fortuitously benefited Mia, Miel, and Sigrdrifa. Knowing Aske as dea did, as long as these were beneficial for the team’s developnt, he wouldn’t be over-suspicious even if he harbored so doubts.
To so extent, the Squad Leader truly was an extre utilitarian. After grasping this, planning beca much more comfortable.
“What do you say?” dea asked in the Mind Channel.
Continuing down this route, we will encounter the first Norman squad in 3 minutes,” Miel replied.
“How strong is the enemy?” dea continued to inquire.
“Why do you care about this?” Miel was slightly surprised as she continued, “Two Haska Guards, seven or eight Advanced Norman Knights, it looks like the sa group that ambushed us in the town earlier.”
“I’m just collecting necessary information. After all, is there any better scouting channel than your ‘Peeping into the Future,’ which is more direct, convenient, and comprehensive?” dea said with a smile.
“Oh?” Miel responded unperturbed, “So, testing how far into the future I can peek also falls within your scope of information gathering?”
“Understanding one’s companions is certainly an important part of analysis,” dea said calmly in the face of Miel’s subtle warning, “But I’m curious, how did you figure out my intention? Was it deduction, or sothing akin to Mind Reading?”
Miel was silent for a while before replying, “In a parallel world, you have explained your intention.”
“I see.” dea also fell silent for a mont before saying.
With the Enchanting Demon Miss’s bright mind, it didn’t take long to understand the principle behind Miel’s words:
She wanted to know just how far into the future Miel could peer—this thought was not sothing that needed to be kept strictly secret. Therefore, if Miel were to ask her directly, there was a small chance that dea would candidly reveal the truth.
As long as such a possibility existed, Miel could “hear” the dea of the future’s answer through her “Peeping into the Future” Skill, thus knowing her intentions in advance.
Upon further reflection, this Law Skill was simply ga-changing, far stronger than Mind Reading. After all, Mind Reading can only access the other’s thoughts, whereas this Skill reads all “possible futures” that could happen.
In a certain sense, it was akin to being “omniscient.”
For example, if there were nurous enemies ahead, should we charge head-on or take a detour for a surprise attack? Miel only needed to read future outcos, compare the results of charging and stealth attacks, and choose the optimal solution.
So, the Anti-Christ of the past possessed such an inconceivable power? No wonder he remained unscathed through centuries of the Church Court’s targeted purges.
Thus, it only made sense that Miel wouldn’t disclose this ability to Aske. Putting herself in the sa position, if dea possessed this Skill, she wouldn’t tell anyone else apart from herself.
However, Miel unexpectedly chose to be candid with her, which, in addition to signaling the sincerity of an alliance, probably also suggested a desire to utilize dea’s exceptional intelligence… Thinking this, dea couldn’t help feeling a surge of excitent.
An almost “omniscient” source of information was a perfect fit for soone like her, who thrived on planning and scheming.
Perfect.
