Chapter 490: Chapter 2: Going Ho

The car erged from the underground tunnel and entered the bustling city district.

Before long, it stopped at the entrance of a towering high-rise building.

“We’re here!” Nora announced, opening the car door and guiding everyone out of the RV.

The attendant at the door imdiately dashed over, intending to take the luggage from the guests, but the driver quickly shook his head almost imperceptibly.

The attendant imdiately retreated to his original position and gave a slight bow to Nora as she approached.

Stepping into the lobby, they were greeted by an elderly man in a suit and leather shoes, his white hair ticulously combed, and the curve of his bow precisely correct, resembling that of a high-end butler.

“Miss,” he said with a bow.

“Make the arrangents,” Nora instructed.

“Yes,” the butler promptly departed.

“Nora, do you live here?” Miel asked, holding her hand and looking around excitedly, “It looks like a super high-end apartnt!”

The only thing is, it lacks cover; if enemies were to attack, this lobby wouldn’t be very defensible… Miel couldn’t help but think to herself.

“It’s alright,” Nora said, patting her head with a smile.

She then looked around the lobby. The layout and furnishings were much the sa as when she left ho at the beginning of last year, with no apparent changes, clearly to prevent discomfort should she suddenly return one day.

But still, there was sothing odd… It was too spacious; if enemies attacked from outside, it wouldn’t be defensible.

“Maximus?” Nora called out.

“Miss?” The butler, who had just left, appeared from sowhere again.

“How is the building’s security now?” Nora asked with concern.

“The ‘Golden Skulls’ are on duty 24 hours a day in the nearby security room,” the butler said, not understanding why the miss was inquiring about security issues as soon as she had returned from outside, but…

He certainly understood what she ant and said, “Are you thinking of a new layout?”

“I think the main entrance is too open,” Nora said, “Coming in gives one an unobstructed view, which isn’t good. Can we install so bulletproof glass screens?”

“And it would be best to reserve side shooting ports,” Miel chid in.

“Right away, I’ll make the arrangents,” the butler imdiately replied.

After speaking, the butler quickly left again.

“Nora, which floor is your family on?” Mia asked, pressing the elevator button and turning to inquire.

“Uh, let’s go to the 36th floor first,” Nora replied with a smile.

She couldn’t very well tell them that the entire “Lysine Building” was her family’s property.

The elevator opened, and they all crowded inside. Mia and Miel, in particular, were especially excited, while the other girls remained silent, as if digesting the information they had absorbed during the journey.

Soon, the elevator reached the 36th floor.

The group exited onto the floor, only to see that the entire level… was open-plan.

Straight ahead was a row of nearly a hundred ters of floor-to-ceiling windows and corridors, featuring an indoor swimming pool and a plant gallery (filled with all sorts of flowers), as well as a semi-open bar and liquor cabinet.

“Wow!” Before Nora could stop them, Mia and Miel rushed to the pool’s edge and skimd their hands across the water.

“Can we swim?” the two excited girls turned and asked.

“Of course, you can. If you need to change into swimsuits, there should be so of my old clothes in that wardrobe over there.”

Nora led Mia and Miel toward an adjacent room.

“So, everyone, please feel free to take a seat,” said Aske as he settled down in the rocking chair next to the plant corridor.

Pushing the door beside them open, Mia and Miel couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wow!” once again… The number of tis they had been amazed today far exceeded the past few months.

However, this wardrobe room… It would be more appropriate to call it a horseshoe-shaped corridor made up of countless wardrobes, which was almost like the maze of the Minotaur.

Mia and Miel started chasing each other and frolicking in this labyrinth while Nora briefly searched and then asked:

“Vesta, where is the swimsuit I wore in middle school?”

“In wardrobe G-3, Miss Nora,” ca a clear female voice from the room’s speaker.

Nora then headed to the end of the corridor to the wardrobe, swung open the door, and found nearly a hundred different styles of school swimsuits.

“Mia, Miel!” she called back, “Co and pick out whatever style you like.”

By the ti the two little girls were dressed and Nora led them back out, they saw Thira and Eleanor wearing VR headsets and watching a movie, while Sigrdrifa and dea were sitting at the semi-open bar sipping whiskey.

Aske was comfortably asleep in the rocking chair next to the plant corridor, and Peggy stood neatly behind him, rhythmically pushing the rocking chair back and forth.

Mia and Miel cheered and then plunged into the swimming pool with a splash, sending water flying onto the marble floor.

dea, seated near the bar, waved her hand at them and said with a smile,

“Want a drink?”

“Sure,” Nora said with a smile.

She opened the door to a nearby liquor cabinet, took out a bottle, and gestured, “Sparkling wine?”

“Whatever you like,” dea said with a laugh.

“You drink too?” asked Sigrdrifa, surprised as she watched Nora pour two glasses, “Nora, I would have thought you were the obedient type at ho.”

“The two aren’t mutually exclusive,” Nora replied, “Tasting famous wines was part of my studies as a child. It was mainly to have sothing to talk about when socializing with others.”

“I get it,” dea said, propping her cheek with one hand and beaming, “It’s like having to morize scriptures in our community, which serves to build common interests in the social circle.”

“morize scriptures?” Nora suddenly realized, “dea, isn’t the doctrine of your community abstinent?”

“Yes,” dea said, raising her glass for a sip, “So breaking the rules is what makes it fun.”

Nora: …

“Speaking of which, you’ve noticed Eleanor’s situation too, haven’t you?” dea said softly, casually swirling the liquid in her glass.

“You an…” Nora cautiously asked.

“Her relationship with Aske seems to have gotten closer,” dea took another sip, “I can’t read minds, but one can tell from the subtle expressions and behaviors, probably the result of that rescue. Maybe sothing happened between them.”

“If that were the case, Ellie would definitely tell ,” Nora stated firmly.

“Heh, Nora,” dea snorted, “Don’t forget that in the face of love, even lifelong friends may not necessarily…”

“Eh, I think you’ve changed sowhat,” Sigrdrifa suddenly cut in, noticing Nora’s unease, “You’ve been talking less lately.”

“Yes,” Nora also chid in, “You seem much gloomier. Is this due to the bloodline integration?”

“Sort of,” dea finished her drink in one gulp and put down the glass, “It’s just that I suddenly understood many things.”

“Such as?” Sigrdrifa queried.

“Such as the fact that you can never wake soone who is pretending to be asleep,” dea’s gaze shifted towards Aske on the opposite rocking chair as she narrowed her eyes slightly, “Unless…”

“Unless what?” Nora asked.

“Another drink?” dea grinned and raised her glass again without answering.
