132: Chapter 36: Sniper Work 132: Chapter 36: Sniper Work Aske was feeling rather agitated.

As a prophet, he knew that the advantages he was aware of due to the “butterfly effect” would eventually be erased by the shifting tilines of the world.

He just hadn’t expected it to happen so soon.

As a professional player, he wasn’t fearful of change or the unknown, but now that he understood the current global situation, he felt a sense of crisis about his team’s progress.

At this point in the storyline, it was roughly the early period of version 1, and the average level in his team was less than Lv.3, which was slow even by his past life’s ga standards.

Back then, mainstream guild players at this stage would have had almost everyone at Lv.5 Sharp Blade Team, even without fully equipped with divine gear.

Of course, the Sharp Blade Team had the backing of a large guild of players who provided support with materials and recipes without much worry.

Fighting alone now, his situation was obviously different.

Now he was single-handedly carrying the whole team, so it was inevitable for their progress to be slow.

Sighing, he knew he’d have to find a way to speed up.

Ahead, in the rcenary group, over a dozen rcenaries were shielding their squad leader, and according to the instructions in his earpiece, their leader was the man with a Slaughter Value of 20, his target for this mission.

He didn’t know why the previous Spartans hadn’t sniped him, but encountering Aske now was just bad luck for him.

Aske drew his longsword and casually walked over.

What t him was a burst of gunfire.

“Be careful!

He hasn’t been hit!” one of the rcenaries scread.

Several shooters fired continuously, but were shocked to see this man darting through their bullets at high speed in a huge arc, nearly dodging all their shots.

He charged into the crowd, like a lion plunging into a herd of zebras.

He raised his longsword.

The nearest rcenary was the first to fly out, his chest to abdon sliced by the Lion’s Fang, turning into white light in mid-air.

Then three or four rcenaries were struck directly by his Half Moon Slash, limbs and body parts flying.

The squad leader at the center lifted his giant axe—it was a two-handed pole axe, looking like an executioner’s tool for decapitation.

Then the surrounding rcenaries began to tighten their formation, seemingly to block his space for dodging and pushing him toward the giant axe-wielding squad leader.

A human wall?

Isn’t that a player’s tactic?

Aske couldn’t help but scoff.

In the outside world, these NPC rcenaries would never do this because while they were restricting both parties’ space, Aske’s movent might be reduced, but weren’t these rcenaries affected as well?

They were essentially using their lives just to hinder his mobility.

It was because this was in the Dream that they could deploy such a shaless tactic as human blockades, as even in death they were rely sent out; hence, both players and these NPCs would recklessly embrace death with their Undying Body, showing no difference in thinking.

“This is fine,” Aske suddenly stopped attacking and said, “Hey, big guy, you’re the only one I’m after.”

“Let’s wrap this up quickly.”

The surrounding rcenaries didn’t move but quickly surrounded him, leaving only a narrow gap that directly connected him to the rcenary group leader.

Oh?

So the true purpose of this human blockade was just to prevent from side-stepping to dodge, forcing to take the giant axe-wielding squad leader’s slash head-on?

He had just realized this when he saw the opposing leader, during a charge, suddenly leap up, his heavy giant axe raised high behind his head.

A Northern style jumping slash?

No, the moves are quite off-standard, and the jump wasn’t high enough.

Probably just to boost the impact.

The surrounding rcenaries looked tense because they were hooked arm-in-arm, forming a human wall that encircled Aske and the squad leader in the middle.

If Aske were to swing his longsword now, they would have no way to retaliate.

However, the whole tactic was to hold the sniper at bay, as long as Aske wasted his attacks on them, they would fulfill their tactical objective.

At most, after killing four or five of them, the squad leader’s giant axe would bisect him.

The number of people maintaining this tactic had been calculated, even if Aske launched a fierce attack trying to break through, there would be more people blocking the gap on the periphery.

As long as they held out until the Squad Leader’s giant axe attack struck, it would be over!

Die, Sniper!

Under the fearful and excited gazes of the rcenaries, Aske calmly watched the giant-axe Squad Leader leaping into the air, as his left hand discreetly moved towards his waist.

He drew the Imperial Eagle.

What?!

The leaping rcenary Squad Leader, his giant axe raised high behind his head, was ready to forcefully slash down.

Then he saw Aske’s handgun aid at him, the dark muzzle seed to hide a beast choosing its prey.

The thunderous gunshot erupted, and the Squad Leader’s head exploded in mid-air.

Imdiately after, his entire body transford into white light and was teleported away from the Dream.

The surrounding rcenaries, as if struck by lightning, stared dumbfoundedly at his handgun.

“You?!

How can you use a gun?” soone couldn’t help but scream, “Aren’t Spartans not allowed to use guns?”

“Spartans just disdain using guns,” Aske thodically returned the Imperial Eagle.

“Besides, I am not a Spartan.”

“You’re not a Sniper!” Another rcenary suddenly shouted, as if having an epiphany.

Aske was really done, brother, how did you co to that conclusion?

“Revenge for the Squad Leader!” The rcenaries chaotically shouted, clumsily drawing their weapons and rushing at him.

“Admirable courage,” Aske said calmly, and unleashed another Full Moon Slash, perfectly striking all the enemies around him.

Watching their fallen comrades, the rcenaries quickly realized another problem.

Whether he was a sniper or not, this man in front of them was not soone they could match.

“Let’s survive first, then avenge the Squad Leader!” another rcenary shouted, and everyone imdiately dispersed as if injected with adrenaline, scattering in all directions.

Aske: ??

He leaned his longsword on the ground, dumbstruck for a long while, before he couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

“Fantastic fight.” Applause sounded from the hill once more; Aske turned to look and saw the Ilanian Assassin instructor, Rasul standing there, holding his old book.

“Have you not left?” Aske asked.

“The Spartans seek from this grand battle recruits who et their standards, just as does the Ilanian Assassin Organization,” Rasul said smilingly.

“What’s wonderful is that our criteria are different.”

Just say you want to piggyback off their event to recruit people.

Aske nodded and asked, “So, have you found any?”

“I’ve discovered five promising recruits,” said Rasul.

“Two were unwilling to join, so I sent them outside the Dream.

The remaining three… although promising, that’s all they are.”

“Having potential is good enough,” Aske said with a knowing tone.

“It’s not easy to recruit these days.”

“The guys in your squad seem pretty promising,” Rasul said with a smile.

“How did you find them?”

“I’m just lucky,” Aske didn’t wish to discuss further, just listened for a mont to his headset.

“Can’t talk more, there’s a new target.”

He hurried toward his next destination, catching sight from the corner of his eye that Rasul was following him.

In his previous life’s ga, he had played an assassin character, and he dealt with the leader NPC of this Ilanian assassin faction, Rasul, for quite so ti, so they had a reasonably good relationship.

This guy’s personality was sowhat complex; he had both a gentle and elegant side and a vengeful, cold one, essentially wild and uninhibited.

To put it taphorically, if he bumped into soone on the street, he’d first apologize politely.

But if the other person was relentless and insulted his entire family, Rasul would happily kill them, then find out their ho address and erase every mber of their family.

Also, this guy’s tastes were pretty unique; he liked mature, robust, and brawny won who could do tough work and swear.

Aske was not in a position to comnt; anyhow, on the forums, whenever anyone brought up Rasul, players would just reply with mocking emojis.

Although this man was a bit twisted, as long as you didn’t deliberately offend him, he wouldn’t do much to you.

Upon reaching his destination, Aske rested on his sword and scanned the area, soon spotting a petite figure rushing towards him.
