She instantly backed away, her legs stumbling. She’d never seen a scar on Katherine’s face before since the latter was always wearing at least 10kg of makeup all the ti.
"What now?" Katherine asked with a grin on her lips. "Can’t bring yourself to shoot anymore?"
A ringtone blared from Katherine’s pocket. She fetched her phone and once she saw the person calling, she rolled her eyes back.
"I’m on my way ho. Don’t worry I didn’t do anything stupid. No, of course not. I’ve been very careful. I may or may have already shown my face to her, you see." A nacing smirk stretched further and further on her cheeks when she saw how disoriented Eva was. "I’ll be back ho soon. And yes, I’ll be very careful."
She quickly hung up on Marcus when he started to ask whom she was with.
"Well, there’s that. I would love to stay and chat but soone’s gonna call again if I don’t make it back ho soon. You know the city is unsafe and I can’t risk getting identified," Katherine said, looking at Eva who was still deep in thought. "I only ca here to remind you that as long as I’m still wandering along the streets of Lexora, you’re not going to find happiness, Eva. To think I stalked you from Qynland to Lexora just to say these few lines."
Eva only glanced at Katherine’s face, her gaze resting on the part where the scar was evident.
"Well, if you can excuse ..." Katherine hailed a cab, got in, and zood off.
Eva was still standing there, still thinking of the possibilities that were running through her mind.
"There’s no way. It can’t...be," she told herself.

Mr. De Rossi and his n barged through the gates of a mansion, forcing their way in.
The security guards who’d been stationed there tried to stop them from stepping in any further, but a gun was held to their heads, forcing them to stay still.
"Where’s my son?" Mr. De Rossi questioned one of the security guards who motioned towards the entrance of the mansion.
Mr. De Rossi’s eyes darkened as he marched inside. It’s been a week now since Dante managed to get Rhea out of his grasp.
At first, he thought it would be so kind of joke, but a whole week had passed and Dante hadn’t bothered to call him at all.
The presidential election is in four months now. Even though that was still a lot of ti for him to prepare, he couldn’t underestimate Dante since he didn’t know what his son was thinking all the ti.
Mr. De Rossi barged into the mansion and found Rhea in the living room, watching a cartoon.
Blood boiled in his veins when he saw her looking so relaxed. She was seventeen, watching a kids’ show as if she’d never seen one before.
He’d tried to make her recover, but the treatnts never worked.
The public didn’t know he had a daughter, and if Dante made her social debut, he would be questioned.
"Rhea!" He roared and instantly, the girl jumped from her seat.
Blood drained from her face when she saw the person standing by the door. Fear gripped her, making it impossible for her to love or speak. She just stood there, like a statue.
"Co with ," he said and he marched towards her and grabbed her forcefully. "You’re coming back ho with ."
"No!! I don’t want to go back there!! Let go!" She demanded as tears stread down her face but her father’s grip on her was so tight, it nearly crushed her bones. "Dante!!" She scread.
anwhile, Dante was in his study when he suddenly heard the commotion happening downstairs.
Since Rhea started living with him, he’d been working from ho so she wouldn’t feel so lonely ever again.
Without thinking, he rushed downstairs, only for him to see a bunch of n in his living room and his then his father, holding Rhea like she was a hostage.
"There you are. For a second I thought you wouldn’t be ho so my task here would be easy," said his father.
"Let Rhea go," Dante demanded.
His blood boiled at the sight of Rhea crying. It’s been a week since she started living with him, and throughout the week, he’d tried to make her live as free as possible, and forget about what she’d gone through, only for the actual devil to show up in his ho.
To think his incompetent security guards couldn’t even stop him.
He made a ntal note to get rid of them all.
"And why? You helped her escape without my permission when I wasn’t even through with her yet. I can’t risk you showing her face to the public Dante. I thought we already had this conversation years ago. Why are you making repeat myself?" He questioned, veins popping on his head.
"You speak as if she’s so experintal rat you can practice on."
"She’s my daughter!"
Dante couldn’t help but scoff when he heard the last word.
When was the last ti his father ever acknowledged Rhea as his daughter? Never.
"That’s new coming from you," Mylo said from the staircase. "Considering you don’t care about anyone unless their life is going to benefit you one way or the other."
Mr. De Rossi’s gaze simply narrowed at Mylo with one question written all over his face.
’When did these two start working together?’
"I’m taking Rhea back and there’s nothing you can do about it," he claid, ready to leave.
"I an, you can do all of that but think about it. Would you really want to cause this much trouble especially when you have a big election campaign coming up? You wouldn’t want to taint the clean reputation you have, father," said Mylo, scratching the back of his head.
Mr. De Rossi halted then his body swiveled to glare at Mylo.
"Information spreads very fast on the internet these days, I’m just saying." He shrugged.
