Xu Chuning was caught off guard by Shen Yubai’s questioning. As she observed the gloom on his face, she felt sowhat puzzled—what was he angry about?
"What are you trying to say?" Shen Yubai lowered his eyes to et her bright, lustrous, yet bewildered gaze, his tone rather cold, "Are you trying to say I’m using my power to bully others?"
Xu Chuning: "That’s not what I ant."
She wasn’t so saintly as to sympathize with [Lai Yongliang] even after the blow he had dealt her, as well as the targeting during his usual class lectures. The reason she said what she did earlier was out of concern that others might have a negative view of Shen Yubai.
To be honest, Xu Chuning had long wanted to change math teachers. Lai Yongliang taught too quickly and hardly considered whether the students could keep up. In his eyes, if you couldn’t follow, it was your fault for being stupid, not his issue.
And really, he was too power-hungry.
He didn’t just do this to Xu Chuning, but also treated the students from ordinary families in their class, including his own, differently.
Shen Yubai looked down, "Then what do you an?"
Xu Chuning softly said, "Would he hold a grudge against us for doing this?"
She was afraid Lai Yongliang might seek revenge out of desperation.
Shen Yubai was taken aback and felt a slight jolt in his heart at her worried appearance, "He won’t."
He gave Xu Chuning a reassuring look and explained, "The principal won’t be that foolish. He wasn’t fired, so what’s there to hold a grudge for?"
Xu Chuning: "He won’t be fired?"
"Not for now," said Shen Yubai.
The principal intended to temporarily assign Lai Yongliang to teach other classes.
Moreover, this reassignnt wouldn’t happen this sester, but the next. It was common and reasonable to change teachers at the start of senior year three.
Hearing Shen Yubai say this, Xu Chuning was at ease.
As for the matter of Shen Sinian deliberately scoring zero on his math test, it was let go just like that.
Xu Chuning and Shen Yubai weren’t unreasonable parents, especially since they understood why he did it.
Unexpectedly, after this monthly exam, Lai Yongliang still temporarily taught Xu Chuning’s class. He no longer deliberately targeted Xu Chuning and Shen Sinian, and although he occasionally still called on them to answer questions or solve problems at the blackboard, his words weren’t as sharp and harsh.
At first, Xu Chuning was sowhat unaccustod to it.

After the monthly exam, Xu Chuning and Shen Sinian’s lives hadn’t changed much, except... Shen Yubai appeared before Xu Chuning more often than before, otherwise everything was as usual.
On this Friday, after Xu Chuning and her friends had lunch in the cafeteria, they returned to the classroom.
As soon as they entered, Shen Sinian picked up Xu Chuning’s cup and offered to fetch two cups of water. The mont he left, his phone on the desk rang.
Xu Chuning glanced at it; it was an unknown call.
After a few seconds of consideration, she answered, "Hello, good day."
"Good day..." The person on the other end was surprised to hear a strange female voice, "May I know if you’re a mber of Shen Sinian’s family?"
Hearing Shen Sinian’s na, Xu Chuning hesitated briefly, "I am, who’s calling?"
This person knew Shen Sinian?
"Miss Shen, hello." The caller mistook Xu Chuning for Shen Sinian’s sister, their voice sounding very young, "I’m an agent with Mingri Entertainnt Company, my na is Min Jian. I wanted to ask Shen Sinian about the matter we discussed last ti, how has he considered it?"
Xu Chuning was stunned, "Which company?"
Min Jian repeated the na.
Xu Chuning suddenly understood but before she could say anything more, Shen Sinian returned with the water.
"Ningning."
Xu Chuning looked up and ca back to her senses, handing him the phone, "Soone’s looking for you."
Shen Sinian: "Who is it?"
Xu Chuning: "Min Jian."
Shen Sinian: "..."
He hastily grabbed his phone, muttering, "Didn’t I already refuse him?"
Xu Chuning watched him, "Go outside to talk, there are students resting in the classroom."
Shen Sinian humd in acknowledgnt, about to head out, then suddenly stopped, "Will you co with ?"
"..."
The two walked out one after the other, with Xu Chuning trailing two steps behind Shen Sinian, listening to him speak a few sentences with the person on the other end.
After hanging up, Shen Sinian looked innocent, "I didn’t intentionally keep this matter from you."
Xu Chuning: "I’m not angry."
Is the future often angry? Why else would Shen Sinian be so worried about getting angry?
The fact is not that the future Xu Chuning was prone to anger. It was Shen Yubai, who, from the day Shen Sinian could understand human speech, had drilled into him, telling him that he could be mischievous, he could be wasteful, but there was one thing he must never do.
Shen Sinian asked him, bewildered, "What is it?"
Shen Yubai told him that he must never make his mother angry. If he made Xu Chuning angry, Shen Yubai would take all the misdeeds, big or small, and settle the accounts with him all at once.

Xu Chuning instinctively asked, "What?"
Shen Sinian: "If I make you angry, he could kick out of the Shen Family."

Xu Chuning froze, sowhat incredulously raising her eyes, staring steadily at Shen Sinian before her, feeling it out of character for Shen Yubai to say such a thing, "Are you sure you’re not exaggerating?"
"Of course not," Shen Sinian was just shy of swearing with a raised hand, "He’s really that twisted."
Xu Chuning: "...I don’t think he’s the kind of person to say such things."
"How could he not be?" Shen Sinian sighed, quite puzzled, "You don’t know, I often thought I was adopted."
His parents were true love; he was an accident.
Xu Chuning was slightly embarrassed, "Really?"
Shen Sinian sounded lancholic, "You’ll know later on."
Xu Chuning: "..."
Mother and son fell into silent choking for a while before Xu Chuning steered the conversation back on track, "What was that call about?"
Shen Sinian explained that the last ti he went to the arcade, soone stopped him after he danced on the dance machine, asking if he wanted to enter the entertainnt industry to beco a star, saying their production was looking for a boy his age and there was a role that fit him quite well.
Shen Sinian flatly refused, but the person insisted on giving him his business card and even shalessly took Shen Sinian’s number, saying to let him know once he thought it over, in case he suddenly decided he wanted to be a star.
And that’s how the two of them ca to have contact.
It’s just that he had already refused several tis recently, and Shen Sinian hadn’t expected that the person would still be persistent.
After hearing Shen Sinian’s explanation, Xu Chuning understood, "Do you have absolutely no interest?"
Shen Sinian looked surprised, dropping his gaze to her, "What?"
Xu Chuning: "Does the future stop you from engaging with these entertainnt things?"
Shen Sinian shook his head.
Xu Chuning: "Then do you want to go?"
Shen Sinian’s lips quivered, he wanted to say he didn’t. But these words hung on the tip of his tongue, struggling to co out.
He lowered his eyes to look at Xu Chuning, speaking softly, "Do you want to go?"
Xu Chuning smiled warmly, responding cheerfully, "If you want to go, then I want you to go."
