"#$%&%$##$"
Kael tilted his neck slightly.
What's going on...?
Suddenly, that thought vanished from his mind. Like a puff of smoke, it dissipated in the wind, as if the ties that bound it had weakened. And yet he knew with certainty that those thoughts had existed. The mory remained vivid.
He watched as the child's lips slowly curved into a smile.
"I see, so you interrupted ..."
The entity did not respond. It simply dug its skin-like tentacles much deeper into his body than before.
Kael realized that ti was running out. But he wasn't worried, just in a tight spot. He understood that the "child" who was monopolizing his emotions wasn't that powerful.
The process of consuming thoughts, emotions, and senses is not gradual, but instantaneous.
"It has completely robbed of my sense of sll, rather than simply diminishing its odor."
It was obvious that there was an interval in this... If he understood it, he would know how much ti he had left before he was dood.
But then he realized sothing he had overlooked: his sense of hearing was working again!
If not, how could he hear the strange language spoken by the "boy"? Kael realized that the key to escaping this situation lay in understanding how he had regained his hearing.
What exactly did I do just before regaining my hearing that could have triggered it? I don't rember...
Kael's thoughts froze. Feeling himself losing his mind, he tried to go over what he had done before eting the boy, just three seconds earlier.
I don't rember very well...
Huh? What was he thinking?
Kael shifted slightly. A little over 15 seconds had passed when the "boy" absorbed his thoughts and emotions.
Was that thing getting faster?
The boy was consuming the food faster and faster. And, from what he rembered of previous consumptions, the speed increased exponentially. By then, Kael knew he probably had less than a minute left before the creature devoured everything.
As he lost consciousness, Kael attempted one last move.
His thoughts slowed as he used his mana essence and tried to murmur sothing in a lost language.
The seconds passed quickly in that strange forest, where the trees were jet black and the leaves were bright crimson.
The tentacles of the "Boy" continued to devour Kael's emotions and mories, quickly filling his existence and giving him more strength.
When the creature saw that its prey had stopped resisting, it smiled. It slowed down its absorption, satisfied with its victory. Finally, the emptiness inside it began to fill up.
The mories it treasured were delightful: mories of friends, of an exciting ga, and even of the joy of entering an institution.
They were peculiar mories, unlike anything it had consud before...
However, "Boy" knew that behind this peculiarity lay sothing else, another reason why he felt drawn to that humble human being from so far away...
What was it? The mories were undoubtedly more interesting than the previous ones, but why did he feel that there was sothing more beyond that?
He took another deep breath, inhaling the sweet nectar that drew him in; the mories continued to seep into his being, one breath after another.
With his last breath, he felt what he had been searching for all this ti: mories more delicious than any he had ever consud.
mories that killed him instantly.
The mont he inhaled those fragnts of mory, he felt his existence crumble. And yet, he didn't care. For a brief mont, he felt whole again.
He hadn't expected it, but the madness contained in those mories was like a bright light that attracts insects to their death.
He no longer knew if he had perished in absolute bliss or in the flas of madness. Or perhaps... in both.
Kael feels his emotions and mories returning to him, as well as his thoughts, but the creature that stole them had turned into a blue sli with writhing tentacles.
So he murmurs a fire spell and finishes burning the remains.
As expected of a rank 4 inheritance, anything is deadly.
Furthermore, he feels a certain restriction on his power, as if he were back at rank 9, peak level.
But that doesn't bother him in the least, and he begins to make his way through the forest.
...
A few monts later.
Kael looked at the creature in front of him with indifference. In his hand, a fla concentrated, taking the shape of a baseball. With a calm gesture, he threw the sphere into the air, alerting the creature, which quickly covered itself with a black mass.
"You have quite sharp senses for a creature with so little intelligence."
After unleashing the fla, Kael moved quickly. The creature's empty eyes widened excessively when it saw Kael's sword just inches from its face.
It dodged the blow and counterattacked with a swift punch wrapped in corrosive, evil energy. However, its attack missed, striking only air and unleashing a powerful gust of wind.
The creature's face distorted as it ford a spear made of black blood that emitted a fine mist. It disappeared and reappeared behind Kael, who ducked to avoid the attack.
The creature swung its spear, sending a slash of corrupted energy straight toward Kael.
Kael concentrated much of his mana essence to block the attack.
Boom!
An incredible explosion resounded, shaking the air around it and kicking up dust.
The curtain of dust quickly dispersed in the breeze caused by the shock.
Kael, who still maintained his indifferent expression, thought.
That monster is getting stronger as ti goes by...
Pushing his thoughts aside, he lunged at the monster, moving in a zigzag pattern. When he was close enough, he took a big leap.
The creature, with its three mouths, muttered in a corrupt and repulsive language, black worms that had suddenly appeared began to float and quickly ford a shield.
At that mont, a fireball rushed toward the creature's unprotected side.
The creature's eyes began to glow more intensely, and crimson tears began to flow in abundance, creating a large pool of blood.
The blood on the ground rose and created a shield that prevented the fireball from entering his unprotected spot.
Clang! Boom!
An explosion and a clash of tal echoed through the air, raising a curtain of steam and crimson red dust.
The dust and steam clouded Kael's vision, who used the shield of worms as a base to jump backward. And while he was in the air between the dust and steam, a long serpentine tail filled with worms and eyes headed straight for his heart.
Gripping the sword hilt tighter, Kael spun in midair, cleanly slicing the worm's tail and eyes into several pieces.
The creature let out a loud, bloodcurdling scream of pain from its three mouths as the pieces of tail Kael had cut off fell to the ground, turning into a pool of blood with writhing worms emitting baby cries.
After maneuvering in the air, Kael fell without difficulty. Looking up, he saw several worms flying toward him like projectiles; he rolled on the ground, dodging them by re inches.
anwhile, Kael created another white fla in the shape of a tennis ball and threw it at the monster to distract it so he could catch his breath and regain his strength.
The creature had not stopped attacking with worm projectiles during the prolonged attack, while the object glowed again, creating a shield of worms that blocked the attack.
Boom!
Kael could breathe again. His stamina was running low.
And the creature seed to be evolving again.
Kael lunged at the monsters once more, who began attacking him with worms that looked like projectiles. He moved sideways, dodging all the attacks, as if he had a machine gun.
The three mouths began to murmur rapidly, and the eyes all over its body also began to glow intensely.
And the creature's body began to transform again, becoming even more terrifying than it already was.
At that mont, a small red sun struck the creature's body, preventing it from completing its transformation.
After witnessing this, Kael was not going to allow that thing to complete its transformation and complicate matters further, so he quickly attacked it.
The creature let out a loud, piercing scream of pain, and its body began to writhe and swell as its transformation was interrupted.
Seeing this opportunity, Kael paused. Wielding his sword in his right hand, he first positioned himself as if to throw a spear, transferring much of his strength to his arm.
He held his breath and attacked with almost all his strength; the sword flew quickly toward the creature's head like a bullet.
The sword pierced the creature's head, destroying it in the process; brain juices with brain cavities began to fall to the ground as black worms wriggled disgustingly and emitted baby cries.
At that mont, the head reconstructed itself while shining brightly, which increased its ability to rebuild itself.
Seeing this, Kael gathered almost all of his remaining strength in his legs and leaped like an arrow toward the creature, cutting its body into multiple pieces.
The creature let out another bloodcurdling, painful scream as its body disintegrated into a multitude of black, oil-like worms.
After collapsing, the creature's body turned into a prominent black pool, filled with writhing worms and a multitude of eyes. Multiple distorted screams were heard.
In seconds, it evaporated as if it had never existed.
Kael sighed with an indifferent expression and continued on his way through the forest.
