Chapter 55: About desires

In a spacious hall facing a stage where an MC was speaking in front of a display showing a few novel pictures, Valerie sat among many people who were authors along with platform staff, and many others, including Daniel and Damian. They all looked attractive and formal.

"So, is he your husband?" a girl sitting on her right side asked, glancing at Damian sitting on her left side.

"Um, no..." Valerie furrowed her brow, turning her face away from the blonde-haired girl in the black dress. "He’s just... He’s just the father of my baby." She explained nervously.

The girl grinned oddly, distancing her head from Valerie. "Not a husband, but he’s the father of your baby..."

"Yes... We were indeed supposed to get married, but it didn’t happen," Valerie explained again.

The girl nodded, then looked back at Damian, who looked dashing in a black suit, holding Daniel, who was also wearing a black and white suit.

"He looks like an elite man... I feel like I’ve seen him in a magazine," she said.

"Don’t think too much about it... Look, they’re going to announce the winners," Valerie replied, looking straight ahead.

"So, for the 2nd Runner up, it’s The Young Mama, by Little_Fighter!" the female MC exclaid loudly, looking at the audience.

Those attended imdiately applauded, while Valerie stood up and her hand showed a greeting salute, but occasionally she glanced at Damian, who smiled proudly at her while Daniel clapped as if he were happy too.

"For author Little_Fighter, please co to the stage," said the MC.

Valerie imdiately left the rows of sitting attendees, then climbed onto the stage carefully across the short stairs until she stood next to the MC who imdiately smiled at her.

While waiting for the other winners to be called, Valerie kept looking at Damian, who stood holding Daniel, smiling at her as if showing pride.

’I never imagined I could receive this award, and you’re accompanying ... I can’t deny that you and Daniel are very important to ,’ she thought with teary eyes.

A few minutes later, the winners were allowed to give short speeches in turn, and now Valerie had to do that. She approached the podium and received a trophy, a small statue shaped like soone reading a book.

"Um..." Valerie was nervous as if she didn’t know what to say. She saw many people in front of her smiling at her, but Damian giving her a thumbs-up made her smile imdiately. "I... I don’t know what to say... I’m nervous because this is my first ti in this situation... You can laugh at ."

Everyone laughed but also gave applause.

Valerie smiled shyly. "I... I want to thank everyone who has always supported ... My family, my friends... my loyal readers, without you, I wouldn’t have achieved this... And especially Sandy and the platform team who allowed

to thrive on their platform, under their auspices... Allowing

to show my abilities..."

Valerie sighed. "This is an extraordinary achievent... I never imagined, I used to write to express a little bit of my story, and then I made it my job to struggle for my son... And I love this job..." She pointed at Daniel with her teary eyes.

"He is the reason behind my success today. Daniel, mama loves you!"

Daniel just smiled while holding both his hands.

Valerie took a deep breath and wiped her tears away, then looked at the trophy in her right hand.

"And... This trophy... maybe I will put it on my desk... It will be a source of my strength to keep writing even though sotis I can’t concentrate, to writer’s block... I will continue to strive to create better works... There’s never enough to learn... Um... Thank you so much!"

She ended her speech and turned to the MC who nodded as if approving of her actions. She lined up again with the other winners, and then received flowers and congratulations from so people, perhaps from the platform and sponsor sides.

After the formal event, everyone was directed to a blue and white thed hall decorated with flowers and white-colored lights, to have dinner together while watching a Korean music performance.

Damian couldn’t stop staring at Valerie sitting across from him, chatting with Sandy and another woman.

"Mama!" Daniel pointed to his mother.

"Sweetie..." Damian lifted Daniel to stand on his lap and then hugged him. "Wait a mont. You shouldn’t cry... Your mom is concentrating on them... She will do her best for her dreams." He explained calmly.

"Desire?"

"Yes... Everyone has dreams, desires... even you also have desires," Damian explained again, making Daniel look serious. "Tell , what is your dream, what do you want the most?" he asked, smiling fondly.

"Sister," Daniel whispered.

Damian imdiately chuckled, then leaned Daniel’s head on his chest. "You’re so funny!"

Daniel felt embarrassed, moving away from his father’s chest.

Damian still chuckled, as if not expecting Daniel to say that.

"You know what? Last night, Daddy tried to make Mommy have a sister for you... A little sister. But it seems it didn’t work, she got angry and might do so prevention..." He sighed, then glanced at Valerie who was getting up with a glass of drink. "But don’t worry... You’ll get what you want. Our togetherness ... And of course, a baby sister or baby brother."

Valerie smiled seeing Daniel, then imdiately sat down next to him, placing her drink on the table.

"Sweetie, do you want to know what just happened?" she asked enthusiastically. "Mom’s book is going to be made into a drama series on a platform!"

Damian smiled. "Is that true? Will it be shown in theaters?"

"No, it will only be seen on the internet... Watch after paying," Valerie explained.

Damian frowned imdiately. "Well then, that’s not good, it doesn’t generate much profit... You shouldn’t allow it!"

Valerie furrowed her brows. "Why?"

"Don’t let yourself be tempted to hand over your work for them to make into a drama series... Because that ans you will never get a chance to make the book into a movie shown in theaters, printed with high-quality tapes... You will only get small profits. So it’s better to postpone your intention to agree with their wishes... Wait until there’s another producer who will make the book into a movie that will be shown in theaters because you will get more profits... Like Harry Potter, after we fall... fifty shades series... and many more," Damian explained with a serious face.

Valerie sighed, turning her face as if thinking.

"That book isn’t that good... I’m not sure it will be interesting if made into a movie and shown in theaters... You can’t ask

to agree with your suggestion..." She looked at Damian again. "You haven’t even read it, have you?"

Damian fell silent for a mont, then nodded. "No... I haven’t read it."

"In that case, don’t be too proud of ... It’s not that great, I’m just the 2nd Runner up..." Valerie humbly replied.

Damian just smiled. "But I will read it. I will order 1000 printed copies of your novel."

"What?" Valerie widened her eyes.

"I will give it to all my family mbers, then to the employees and my friends... So they know what you have been feeling all this ti," Damian said with his warm smile. "I rember what you said during the speech. You said the book was based on your story... And its title is The Young Mama... I’m sure it will be very interesting. I want to know what happened while we were apart... You must have written about it in the novel," he continued.

Valerie was stunned, not expecting Damian to think that far ahead.

’And I will try to find a film producer who will turn another one of your novels into a movie... I will make your dream co true,’ Damian thought to himself.

"Damian... Don’t do that, I’ll be embarrassed... All this ti I’ve been anonymous because I didn’t want people to know that the author of the book is . So... Don’t let them know it’s my story... don’t let them read it!" Valerie said anxiously.

Damian just smiled, raising his eyebrows, seemingly unconcerned about Valerie’s worries.
