When Alric had called Nora, he was sitting near the pool. He did not move from there for a long ti. Late night swimming had cleared his mind. But he did not leave after it. He settled on a chair and stared at the water until a figure blocked the water from his eyes.

Nora was sitting on the edge with her feet dangling into the water. She looked lost in her thoughts. It was not the tension of the exam. But a strange grief that did not let her go. He could recognise this pain anywhere for he held it in her heart for a long ti.

Since her mother died , he was forced to join this crazy family. Could it be that she was missing her parents? Did she even rember them? He had heard she was only five when they died.

Nora turned when she felt a strong gaze burning her back. Her eyes widened and lips parted. She was sure that he had not co after her.

"Mr Spencer!" She nodded softly.

Alric raised a brow. This was the first ti she had called him like that.

"Are you nervous for tomorrow?" He knew that was not the case! She knew it too. Yet, she nodded when asked.

Instead of leaving, he moved closer to her and sat beside her.

"No matter what kind of pain it is, you learn to live with it. And no matter how deep the wound is, if it does not kill you, it will only make you stronger. You are strong Nora. you have reached so far. You will survive this too." Nora stared at his side profile. His deep green eyes reflected the water. His golden hair seems to shine at night.

He must have swam for a long ti. His hair was still wet and drops of water were dancing over his skin making it glimr under the dim light. Her mouth felt dry.

"You are strong too. You have survived all this." she whispered softly. He laughed mockingly.

"I could not forget the pain even for a mont." They thought that he was gullible since he was a child. He would believe the lie of his father that her mother’s death was an accident. That nightmare had never left him alone.

"And that pain has made you strong just like ." Perhaps, this sadness, the feeling of grief around him made her uneasy. He was the only one that made her weak, emotions and human again.

She looked away. The thought, these emotions, her heartbeat was dangerous. She had Victor. And he.. Amyra?

"Will you leave the country after winning?" perhaps, he had heard her heartbeat. Or had seen fears in her eyes. He looked away and changed the conversation.

"No, I still have to take over my company. It belongs to and my family." his eyes flickered and he laughed.

"I have most expected this answer yet it surprised ." he shook his head. "Do you think small investnts in startups would be enough to buy a million dollar company like Stone’s? Your uncle is recently investing in electric appliances. It had signed a deal with "Illuminates" if it went successful, your uncle would be untouchable. Even the small wounds you have given him would heal instantly. Do not forget that he is still your guardian, Nora. After school, he had the right to choose a university for you."

"Not if I have another guardian!" She challenged . She had accepted Victor’s proposal for a reason.

"Ha! You think it is that simple? That young lad is a minor too. Even if you prove that your uncle and aunt are not keeping you well, the court would never approve of it. Since an engagent did not hold a legal weight. It is just a personal commitnt. And could be broken anyti." her eyes dimd. She had mulled over it again and again.

"What if I collect proof that they harm ?" he smiled and looked away.

"It depends on the power then. Your new guardian should be much more powerful than the current ones. Or the court’s judgent would be skewed. Not to forget, they have the right to choose a university for you until then. Your school would end soon and they might force you to go back ho. After that, would you be able to file a case against them?"

"....." Nora lowered her head. She was most afraid about it. She would have no reason to ignore her family after the school ends. But she would still have five months to reach adulthood. Five months were more than enough to kill her or sell her to Benard!

Her breath was heavy and erratic when she felt a hand on her shoulders.

"You can co to if needed. I will find a way to help you." Nora closed her eyes.

"Why? Why will you help ? You have already helped enough. And I do not believe it is only because of Alex. Your help burdens and leaves insecure because I know nothing is free in this world. What do you want from , Alric?" There, she confessed it. She looked into his eyes with confusion lingering on her face.

"Because you remind of soone closer to . I could not help her and she lost her life. If only.. Forget it. You are much stronger and shrewd. I know that you will find a way." he patted her shoulders and stood up. "It is late, you should go and sleep. We do not want you dozing off in the middle of the exam." with his hands in his pockets, he left from there leaving her alone.

No, she was hardly alone with so many worries to burden her for the whole night. Nora laughed with self mockery.

"If you had cared about the exam, you would not have touched my sensitive points and left bare! No matter how much I run, the leash in my neck would bring back to them."
