Chapter 263: Chapter 263: Choose Me or Choose Him 2

Staring at the sealed gate, Leon Grant barked, "Blow it open!"

"Yes, sir!"

The demolitions expert immediately stepped forward.

Inside the factory, a subordinate reported, "Miss Sheffield, Young Master Grant is here to save her! He has too many men. We don’t stand a chance!"

A vicious glint flashed in Faye Sheffield’s eyes. She snatched the gun beside her and shot the reporting subordinate dead, then braced her hands on the table.

Charles King looked at Faye Sheffield and demanded, "How could Leon Grant be here? You said he wouldn’t come!"

She stared out at the factory grounds, her eyes dark, and sneered. "You kidnapped his woman. Did you really think he would just let us go? Things have gone this far—is there any turning back now?"

Her gaze shifted to another subordinate. "Go. Give the order to fight to the death. Double their pay. Tell them they’ll get the money even if I’m dead!"

"Yes, ma’am!"

Faye Sheffield looked down at the scene unfolding below and burst into laughter.

’So, Leon Grant, you actually came to save that bitch Annabelle Linton. Just another heartless bastard bewitched by a vixen!’

’He might as well be dead. What a piece of trash!’

BOOM! The gate was blown open.

Gun in hand, Leon Grant charged inside with his men.

The moment they got inside, the enemy opened fire.

Leon Grant returned fire, then grabbed one of the men and pressed his gun to the man’s head. "Tell me, where is Annabelle Linton?"

"I won’t—" BANG! Leon Grant shot him dead and immediately grabbed another man.

He repeated the process, killing several men before he finally got Annabelle Linton’s location: the third floor of the east wing!

His heart seized with panic as he saw a massive fire erupting from the east wing.

"Cover me!"

His men immediately formed a perimeter around him as they charged forward. But the enemy seemed to have singled him out as a target, putting him in extreme danger.

But seeing the fire in the east wing rage ever higher, he ignored the danger and pressed on!

"BANG! BANG! BANG!"

The sound of countless bullets whizzing past made his ears ring, but nothing could stop Leon Grant.

A bullet struck his arm, and blood began to pour from the wound, but even that couldn’t slow him down.

He had only one thought now: ’Save Annabelle Linton!’

...

"Cough, cough... cough, cough..."

The air was thick with smoke. Annabelle Linton sat on the floor, her face buried in her knees, unsure if she was dead or alive.

Even though the flames hadn’t reached her room, she could tell how massive the blaze outside was.

’By now... Aaron Wyatt must have escaped safely...’

Annabelle Linton leaned her head weakly against the wall and forced a faint, pained smile.

’I owe him so much. As long as he’s safe, that’s all that matters...’

"Annabelle! Annabelle Linton!"

Just as Annabelle Linton’s eyes were about to flutter shut, she saw a figure desperately fighting his way toward her through the smoke.

Tears instantly streamed down Annabelle Linton’s face.

’Why did that fool come back? He shouldn’t be here!’

"Cough, cough... cough, cough, cough..."

Hearing Annabelle Linton’s coughs, Aaron Wyatt rushed to her side in an instant.

He took in her wretched state, and when his gaze met her large, tear-filled eyes, a sharp pain shot through his heart.

"Annabelle, I’ve come to save you!" he exclaimed, helping her up. He pulled out an axe he’d found. "Brace your hands, and get back. I’ll break these handcuffs!"

Seeing the axe, Annabelle Linton shouted at him, "Why did you come back? Don’t you know how dangerous it is here?"

Aaron Wyatt took a few practice swings with the axe against a nearby object, then walked over and wiped the tears from her face. "I could never abandon you. Now, put your hands down. Trust me, I won’t hurt you. Don’t be afraid, Annabelle."

Fresh tears welled up in Annabelle Linton’s eyes as she looked at his unwavering determination.

’The man she had loved her whole life had rescued another woman and abandoned her after she was kidnapped.’

’But the man she had hurt was now risking death itself rather than abandon her.’

’To have a friend like this... it would make dying worthwhile.’
