Sophie’s face turned pale with anger as she glared at Elly Campbell; this genuine look of resentnt was much more pleasing to Elly than feigned grievance.
“Elly Campbell, I’ve endured your harshness and humiliation ti and again. What exactly do you want before you’re satisfied?”
“Disappear from my sight and stop provoking , that’s when I’ll be satisfied.”
Elly Campbell lazily arched an eyebrow, her indifferent lips curving into an almost imperceptible smile that never quite reached her eyes.
“Why should I? All I want is a bit of Dad’s love. I’m not competing with you for anything. Why must you be like this?”
Sophie truly couldn’t understand; it had never crossed her mind to have her mother officially replace Elly’s, so why couldn’t Elly yield even a little bit?
“How much love you want from Jas Campbell has nothing to do with . But Sophie, from the very beginning, you’ve misunderstood the situation!”
The light in Elly’s eyes darkened, instilling a chill in Sophie as she observed Elly.

Even though Elly didn’t spell it out, a sinking feeling abruptly took hold of Sophie’s heart.
It was as if she understood sothing but was unwilling to accept it, feeling the suffocating difficulty of becoming a part of the Campbell family growing more pronounced.
Just as Elly took a step to leave, Sophie called out to her with a cold voice.

She no longer called her ‘sister’ affectionately, nor did she pretend to be pitiable as she had before. Her true nature was laid bare at this mont.
