Chapter 1875: Chapter 1875: Sumr Hall Side Story (77)
Olivia’s eyes lit up with a glint of hope as she looked at Thomas, then timidly shifted her gaze to Edward who stood behind him, silent but full of intense emotions.
Charles Smith and Evelyn Taylor didn’t rush to ask what the two had discussed upstairs.
Obviously, they too realized that their second son, who was focused solely on research, had an emotional intelligence so low that he couldn’t even distinguish right from wrong.
“Edward, about your sister…”
Olivia’s eyes suddenly brightened, thinking Evelyn was pleading on her behalf with Edward.
But then Evelyn paused and added, “I an your biological sister, that girl with the last na lendy.”
Evelyn’s tone was cautious when she ntioned Helen lendy, as if afraid a single wrong word would desecrate her own biological daughter.
Olivia’s face darkened imdiately, obviously upset.
She was there in front of her, yet she didn’t say a word for her but thought about a crippled daughter thousands of miles away whom she hadn’t even t.
A cripple, what could she do now? Bringing a cripple back ho, didn’t they see it as a disgrace to the family?
She was only not as smart as their family, even the eldest brother looked down on her, so why could he accept soone who was crippled?
The more Olivia thought, the more she felt unjust, unwilling, her hands quietly clenched into fists at her sides.
“Helen has never lived with us. Now, almost thirty years have passed, she has her own ideas, her own thoughts. Although we want to acknowledge her, we still have to get her consent first.”
Edward began, and his tone was noticeably softer when he spoke of Helen lendy than when speaking to Olivia.
All her life, her eldest brother never called her “Olivia,” but called a woman he had only t a few tis so affectionately.
The inherent gentleness in his tone made her eyes red with jealousy.
“Our son is right, we have to respect our daughter’s decision.”
Charles Smith gently patted his wife’s back, whose emotions were subtly fluctuating, and said softly:
“We lost her for decades and let her suffer so much outside. If she doesn’t want to, we can’t force her.”
Evelyn Taylor was reluctant to accept such facts.
The daughter she had painstakingly carried for ten months, she had never taken care of her or loved her. Now that they found her, she might not even recognize them, and she was clearly a bit resistant in her heart.
However, she also knew what her husband and son said was true.
If they forced her, it would only push their hard-won biological daughter further away.
Thinking of this, she nodded, “Okay, let Edward arrange this matter.”
“Okay.”
Edward nodded and paid no mind to how Olivia was to be handled, just said:
“I’ll first call Harry Hall and let him tell our sister about our intentions.”
“Okay, okay.”
Evelyn nodded repeatedly, looking at Edward with hopeful eyes.
The call connected quickly. Edward relayed the wishes of his parents to Harry Hall and then hung up the phone.
“How did it go? Did your sister agree?”
“Sister is still at work now, Harry Hall said he will bring it up with her after picking her up from work.”
Evelyn nodded, understanding Harry Hall’s intention.
These matters can’t be clarified over the phone; he must seek Helen lendy’s opinion in person.
Charles Smith couldn’t bear to see his wife, who had always been carefree and unbothered by the secular world, now full of self-bla and grief, feeling deeply sorry in his heart.
