Capítulo 1693: 1693. I dare not do anything
Reaching out to rub the top of her head, he said:
“The pharmacologist we’ve hired is also a world-class scientist. Although it might take a little longer than Leo Hall, at least we can guarantee safety.”
Elly Campbell nodded earnestly in his embrace, “I understand.”
—————–I’m a separator————————–
Elly Campbell had given up the idea of dealing with Leo Hall, but she didn’t hide it from Helen lendy.
That day, she went to Helen lendy’s office to find her. Just when she reached her floor, she heard a commotion inside.
“I ca to you because I believed you could win this case, and now you’re giving this result. If I had known, why would I hire a cripple to fight my case!”
Elly Campbell reached the door of Helen lendy’s office and heard the sharp and harsh words, her face imdiately turning cold.
Without even thinking, she pushed the door open and walked in.
A middle-aged woman, wealthy in appearance and harsh in features, sat across from Helen lendy, tapping the table with fingers adorned with jade rings.
Helen lendy was used to being called crippled and wasn’t angry, but the smile had disappeared from her face.
Seeing Elly Campbell co in, she gestured to her to sit down first, then turned to the woman and said:
“Mrs. Gresia, in this marriage, you’re the one at fault. Mr. Tompson has solid evidence. Originally, he could have kicked you out with nothing, but I fought to get you 30% of the assets. That’s already quite generous on Mr. Tompson’s part. If you continue to make a scene here, I’ll have security escort you out.”
Mrs. Gresia was not afraid of her, being cocky in front of Helen lendy because of her wealth.
“Are you trying to scare ? Thirty percent? Thirty percent can’t even fill a cavity! William Gresia’s business was built with . Now that we’re divorcing, why shouldn’t I take half of the assets? Those are our marital assets!”
“Mrs. Gresia, don’t push your luck!”
Helen lendy’s face turned cold, “If thirty percent isn’t enough for you, then I’m sorry, I won’t be taking your case. Find soone else.”
Mrs. Gresia’s legal fees were significant, considered high in the entire legal industry.
She had heard from friends that the chief lawyer of this firm was a divorce case expert, so she paid hefty fees to hire her.
Thirty percent was actually much more than she initially estimated, but people are always greedy.
When she couldn’t get it, she thought even ten percent would be enough, but having gotten thirty percent, she felt Helen lendy wasn’t doing her best. If she tried a little harder, she believed she could get fifty percent.
She thought that because her legal fees were high enough, Helen lendy wouldn’t be willing to give up such a large sum and would try harder to fight for her.
Even if she couldn’t get fifty percent, getting forty percent would be good enough.
But who knew this lawyer would be so tough? Before she even ntioned changing lawyers, she said she wouldn’t take the case anymore?
If she didn’t take it, and William Gresia changed his mind, she might not even get ten percent.
“You… you dare not take my case?”
“Why wouldn’t I dare?”
Helen lendy raised an eyebrow and asked, “Mrs. Gresia, people must have self-awareness. You know the saying about the snake trying to swallow an elephant out of greed. Don’t end up with nothing.”
Saying this, she picked up the phone beside her and dialed, “Mr. Stevenson, I won’t be handling Mrs. Gresia’s case. Let Mr. Tompson take care of it himself, alright?”
