Elly Campbell’s brow furrowed slightly, her eyes tinged with a hint of irritation.

“What exactly happened between you and Adam Jones?”

Elly remained silent, clearly affirming Ethan’s assumption.
Ethan chuckled faintly, raising his hand slightly as though intending to ruffle her hair, but she avoided him deftly.

“Alright, speak.”
“I am deeply grateful for the two tis you saved my life, but I must ask you to respect . I really dislike hearing the remarks you make to disrupt the feelings between my husband and . I have my own family, and I deeply love my husband, Adam. So regardless of whether your words are heartfelt or rely a joke, I don’t want to hear them anymore. Ethan silently looked at Elly, his expression a complex mix of amusent and bitterness.
After finishing her words and seeing Ethan remain silent, Elly’s lips pressed into a tight line.
She didn’t want to delve into what Ethan was thinking at this mont.
In truth, she resembled Adam in so ways, an inherently aloof person.
Once she gave her feelings to soone, she would never harbor any extras for anyone else.
No matter how much soone showed they cared for her or even claid to love her, she wouldn’t develop other thoughts.
At this mont, Ethan seed genuinely affected by her words. His face showed traces of hurt that couldn’t be hidden.

“I’ve said what I needed to say. I hope you won’t say anything in front of Adam Jones that might lead to a misunderstanding anymore.”
She paused briefly and added:
“He’s a very jealous man, and once he gets jealous, he’s hard to placate.”
Ethan continued to gaze at her quietly. Though her words seed to criticize Adam, buried within them was unmistakable affection that he couldn’t ignore.
Ethan pressed his hand against his chest. He had expected this outco, he had long decided to stop entangling himself with her, but hearing her rejection expressed so plainly and cruelly still made his heart ache.
She was a perceptive woman, far too discerning to be unsure of his feelings. Instead, she had simply chosen not to accept them, giving him an easy way out.
At last, Ethan smiled, nodded slightly at her, and said, “It’s my lack of consideration. I apologize; it won’t happen again.”
