Killian took a deep breath and released it slowly. It really didn't help.
He closed his eyes and turned the ignition of his car again; this ti, he twisted the key so hard that it nearly deford. But he couldn't help it. Every nerve in his body felt raw, exposed. The slightest sound—like the rustling of the wind, the radio of the youngsters' car, the soft humming of the cloud—everything was grating on his nerves, making his patience run and his manner go on a very long holiday.
Finally realising that there was no point in going back and forth with the key, Killian dumped it and pushed open the door of his car. He walked to the front and snapped the front hood with a snap. He pulled it open to the top of his head and looked at the engine. From the looks of it, everything seed to be fine. There was enough gasoline, water, and everything. So why was this damn thing not running?
He needed to get this done and then get the hell back to Inez and his pack mbers. They must be out of their minds trying to figure out what was going on and why they had to leave their territory. There was also the fact that the one leading them was none other than Inez. With half of the packs doubtful toward her identity and purpose, there was a very good chance that she might be treated like an enemy.
"Hey, man."
Killian paused. He slowly raised his head and looked at the man who had approached him. Acne-scarred cheeks and a distinct sll of cocaine were sticking to him. A human. Fairly young and sothing about his presence must have scared this young man off because he was clearly releasing a rather pungent scent of terror.
"I wanted to ask…if you have extra gasoline," said the man with a stamr. He looked at Killian and then peered inside the car as if he was trying to see if Killian was carrying extra cans of gasoline and if the man had lied to him.
"Do I look like the manager of a gas station?" Killian asked with a ferocious grin, which showed off his fangs. "I do not think so? I an, have you seen soone as dashing as as a gas station manager?"
The man took a jerky step back. "Hey man, I don't want any trouble."
"Then you keep away from , and there will be no trouble at all." Killian turned his attention back to the engine and threw the hood down. It seed like the rain was ssing with his car.
There was a lot of muttering from the young couple, and Killian rolled his eyes as he slid inside the car. "Kids these days, they just don't know when to stop." he turned the ignition on, and to his surprise, the car turned on this ti around.
Outside, the clouds were curdling even worse. A thunder strike clashed through the sky, and Killian raised his head to look at the sky that was darkening with every passing second. However, it wasn't the thunder and lightning that made Killian frown; it was the owl sitting on the long, crooked branch of the tree as he drove past it. The owl was looking at him, with its amber eyes fixated on his car. As he passed by the tree, the owl turned his steady gaze on him, assessing. Then, without the slightest fear in its eyes, it unfurled its wings and flew past his car.
It was quite a weird reaction for an owl.
Killian frowned. Owls were usually linked with witches, but given that he had not been attacked, maybe it was his instincts playing with him.
I miss Inez.
And that was when it hit him. He had been around Inez so much that he had gotten used to breathing her scent, from the fresh pillow to her bedsheet and her skin. Her scent had started to balance his emotions much better than he had expected. Without her presence near him, he felt extrely raw and exposed. Like a boat without an anchor. Was this how he felt before her? Maybe yes. That was why he was often relying on won one after another to get that stability that he missed out on when he realised that his mate was a freak.
To think he forgot this constant, grinding irritation that kept him on his toes all the ti.
Maybe he should bring flowers to Inez. That woman had changed him for the better without him even finding out.
And at the sa ti, he decided to steal Inez's clothes, and he was going to keep them near him all the ti.
He reached for the ntal link and connected with Matt.
How is everything?
Matt's irritation ca flooding in the second he undid the block that he had put on the pack bond. They are doubting Inez and . They keep on jumping questions on the two of us. I have scared them off, but they will continue questioning us.
Nothing else?
Inez is feeling a bit icky. She says that there is sothing wrong, but nothing has happened yet. But I trust her completely. If she said that there is sothing wrong, then there must be sothing wrong. I just wish she could see what was going to happen; that would be easier.
You an that she cannot tell for sure what is going on?
No, she seems agitated as if sothing is blocking her.
His update only made Killian's agitation even worse. The wrongness in the air started to dig even deeper. He pressed on the accelerator and started increasing his speed. He needed to get to Inez as soon as possible.
By the way, if you find a cuck you branch, can you get so burgers? We haven't eaten anything since we left the territory.
Has Inez eaten?
No.
Change of plans: he would first grab food and then rush to Inez's side but he had to hurry because sothing about the storm made him worry.
