Fang Chuning had a dream, dreaming of a rainy day in Zhongzhou.
A General, full of aggressive montum, brought a group of people to surround his General Mansion, searching everywhere, while he and Zhou Buyan stood under the eaves with indifferent expressions. His personal guards were on high alert, ready to fight at any mont, with tension in the air.
The scene shifted, Xie Jue approached through the rain, right at the gates of the General Mansion. Fang Chuning saw himself in the dream striding quickly towards Xie Jue, hurling curses at him, looking extrely displeased.
Before he had a chance to look closely, he quickly dread of being inside the dimly lit main house on such a stormy day. Outside were his personal guards and the troops from Zhongzhou, all trying to capture Xie Jue, yet he pushed Xie Jue against the table, kissing him madly, biting his lips, questioning why he did such a thing, his voice full of grievance and anger.
He didn’t have the chance to hear Xie Jue’s answer; suddenly he awoke, a thunderclap echoed outside, shaking the heavens, and in the middle of the night, it started to pour rain. Fang Chuning was drenched in cold sweat.
No matter how much others said, it couldn’t compare to the impact of the scenes in his dream. Fang Chuning’s headache was splitting; this was the first ti he saw Xie Jue so clearly in a dream, and he could distinctly feel that it didn’t seem like a dream. It was his lost mory, mories so vivid that his lips still retained the warmth of their intimate connection, and he seed to be able to sll that person’s scent.
How could it be?
Why would he have such a dream?
What happened in Zhongzhou that year, and why did he lose his mory? Was Xie Jue sad seeing him having complete amnesia? Was it cruel for him to bear the mories of both of them alone? Why, if he once liked him, did Xie Jue now appear so unfamiliar? What should he do?
Should this journey continue?
Fang Chuning was unexpectedly fearful. He had once wanted to regain his mory, unable to bear a life of blankness. But now, knowing clearly that restoring mory would also face a dilemma, what was his thought before losing mory? To be entangled with him for a lifeti being gossiped about? Betray the family? Make his parents sad, or give up this relationship? Why did he lose his mory? Was his amnesia related to his attitude? Fang Chuning thought, he didn’t want to betray the family and make his parents sad; no one wants to betray the family and be an unfilial son. No one wants to bear such a heavy infamy, being pointed at and called a calamity to the country and the people. He was once a Great General fighting on the battlefield and guarding the frontier, but in the stories, he was a fem fatale condemned by all, even his family was insulted. Could he bear all of that? Could he really cover his ears and hide in the deep mountains with Xie Jue, ignoring the worldly affairs?
Did he want that?
Did he ever want that?
Fang Chuning was flustered and bewildered, not knowing how to decide. To him, it was a long wind and snowstorm; he could not see the road ahead, but he could clearly see Xie Jue’s determination. If Xie Jue hadn’t been ready to be condemned with him, he wouldn’t have co to Jiangnan to find him, nor would he have taken him all the way north, hoping he could regain his mories!
Fang Chuning, are you afraid?
The more he thought about it, the more it hurt. Fang Chuning held his head in painful groans, trying to drive away the chaotic images in his mind, but the intimate and entwined scenes beca clearer and clearer.
Footsteps hurriedly approached, Xie Jue already sat by the bedside, his hand resting on his shoulder, looking at him worriedly, "Anning, what’s wrong with you?"
Fang Chuning, as if struck by lightning, hurriedly avoided his touch, "I had...a dream."
Xie Jue looked into his slightly red eyes, sighed in relief, "Was it a nightmare?"
Fang Chuning lowered his head, montarily unsure how to answer!
