Chapter 981: Favoritism

Hours went by, and Nicholas announced the last aptitude test.

By now, the number of players, with the exception of Xu Feng and Carn, was down to just 9 players.

The Malefic Order Guild retained only 3 players, naly CarnageBound, Evelyn, and Reckonizer.

The Cyclone Guild’s Darkness Branch only had Donald remaining, but on the Floral Branch’s side, Floral Witch and Azalea successfully passed 5 aptitude tests.

Mistwalkers, Twilight, and the Midnight Guild only had the representative themselves remaining.

How ironic was that!

The Malefic Order Guild had three people remaining, and the Cyclone Guild also had three people remaining, which prompted the remaining representative from the other Super Guild to team up.

"Three people would form one team. You will then be sent to do a battle round against puppets. The higher a team advanced in the battle round, the higher the reward. But keep in mind that any team that failed to surpass round 15 would be eliminated." Nicholas announced loudly.

In the battle round aptitude test, recovery rate and healing potions were reduced by 75%. To simplify, each player in the team must strategize to send which person out to battle and then substitute for the next round.

Luckily, each round would showcase what kind of puppet they must face, allowing them to ponder over it. Though there wouldn’t be much ti, granted that each of them only had 2 minutes to think.

While Nicholas proceeded to explain the rules to the remaining 9 players, Xu Feng suddenly stood up and shouted.

"Damn it. This isn’t possible!" His face twitched uncontrollably, and his eyes revealed traces of astonishnt toward Carn. "10 gas and all 10 gas I got checkmated. Were you playing a pig to eat the tiger the entire ti?"

It was very rare for Xu Feng to lose his composure. He was soone who had witnessed and endured many circumstances.

However, he seriously couldn’t control his emotions this ti.

In the first chess ga, Xu Feng thought he was just careless and underestimated Carn. But as they continued to play, Xu Feng’s expression continued to frown and darken.

Each move made by Carn threatened to checkmate him, forcing him to be on the defensive. There were tis when she even sacrificed 12 pieces of materials, but in the end, they were all brilliant moves to force checkmate him.

That was when Xu Feng realized Carn was a chess grandmaster, one who could contend against the top number 1 player.

His confidence was completely shattered at the 10th ga when Carn decisively destroyed him from the very first move.

"Is there sothing wrong, Junior?" Amidst Xu Feng’s bewildernt, Nicholas suddenly turned to him and inquired.

Realizing that he had unintentionally interrupted Nicholas’s announcent, Xu Feng hurriedly nodded.

"Yes, Elder Nicholas." He turned around and pointed at the teams. "The aptitude test was designed to determine individual capability and adaptation. So to ensure the difficulty remains high and correlates with the aptitude test intention, the team should be made with people unaffiliated with each other."

"Oh, are you saying that so of the team have high coordination?"

"Yes, Elder Nicholas. CarnageBound’s team mber and Skylar’s team mber needed to be swapped."

Nicholas stroked his beard and nodded. "Very well, then the two teams must swap their mbers."

"Wait a minute, Elder Nicholas." At this mont, CarnageBound stepped forward and hurriedly accused Xu Feng of being biased. "Our team is not the only one! Even Floral Witch’s team is one guild, so they needed to be swapped out as well."

Without a doubt, CarnageBound understood Xu Feng was sabotaging the others and giving an advantage to Floral Witch’s team.

How could he allow such favoritism to go through?

Unfortunately, CarnageBound miscalculated heavily this ti.

Xu Feng held a sly grin on his face as he watched CarnageBound screwing himself over. ’Did you think I was yapping just to avoid my sudden outburst?’

Sure enough, Nicholas’s expression turned slightly cold.

"Who are you to question my decision?" He questioned. "I initially thought you were a good seedling, but alas, Irvin’s eyesight seed to be incorrect this ti."

THUD!

Stunned, CarnageBound didn’t expect to receive such a severe backlash.

Nobody in this area was a fool. They all understood what Nicholas’s intention ant. He was definitely going to talk about this incident with Irvin, and once that happened, his build-up relationship with Irvin could have been said to be over.

’How is this possible?’ CarnageBound gritted his teeth, his eyes shifting toward Xu Feng. He couldn’t understand why the latter disturbed and interrupted Nicholas could get away with such a statent.

"The elder referred to Lin Feng as Junior. This ti, you ssed up badly." Amidst his confusion, Evelyn suddenly patted his back and explained.

Silent, CarnageBound realized he was blinded by rage and inadvertently caused such a big blunder. There were no pills for regret, so he could only suck it up and accept the situation.

Nevertheless, his mindset was ruined, and before long, Nicholas was so furious that he directly randomized the team instead.

Surprisingly, the team that CarnageBound ended up forming was with Reckonizer and Donald from the Cyclone Guild.

The second team was Evelyn, Floral Witch, and Azalea.

The last team actually remained the sa, much to everyone’s astonishnt.

In the end, they were all sent to the battle round aptitude test. The tests were fast-forwarded through a formation, and out of the three teams. CarnageBound’s team was all eliminated.

The second team passed with extre ease, and the third team ended up with Skylar and Bloom. Midnight Crane was unlucky and ended up facing a tough puppet. Granted that he was the only male in the team, both Skylar and Bloom nominated him to take the lead.

Toward this, Midnight Crane kept cursing loudly about gender equality.

Soti later, all the remaining players returned to the scene, with Xu Feng and Carn lining up as well.

"The trial has co to an end. Congrats to the 7 players who made it out of the 150 players. You have been granted access to the Hall of Resonance." Nicholas announced.
