Chapter 904: Overheat Protocol

As the burning toxic mist continued to spread across the field by the Slaughter Chainsaw, Carn had no choice but to recall her voidlings into her Void Field to receive enough buff.

After all, the burning toxic mist was a DoT (Damage Over Ti) infliction and lowered her voidlings evasion by approximately 25%.

Under such conditions, it would be equivalent to sending them to die without a chance of being able to retaliate. Thus, Carn would rather have them alive in the Void Field and deal so damage from a far range.

“Guild Leader, wouldn’t this have been a ga over if both of us were lee?” Carn suddenly asked.

“You’re not wrong about that.” Xu Feng nodded in agreent. In the current circumstance, any lee would be rendered useless. In fact, they wouldn’t have been able to make it this far based on the monsters that appeared in the previous six waves.

Having thought about that, he began to wonder if this scenario was predetermined or determined after inspecting their specifications?

For so reason, Xu Feng was leaning toward the latter. After all, there had been many tis when they found themselves to be in an extre dilemma, but not enough to lose without a chance of victory.

Shaking his head, Xu Feng found it pointless to be thinking about that.

Instead, he turned to Carn and suggested, “Carn, can you cast your Void Field on the Boss and then end it manually.”

“Eh, cast and end it instantly?”

“Mhmm, I know doing so would put the Void Field on cooldown, but we tested it earlier, and it’s not for a very long cooldown. But the collapse of the Void Field would be extrely helpful to us in return.”

There was a unique effect on her Void Field upon collapse, which was dealing void-type burst damage that ignored 10% of the enemy’s defense.

Since they could barely do much damage, it was better to test the Void Collapse and see how much infliction it would deal upon the Slaughter Chainsaw.

If the damage was high, then this could be their new thod of dealing with the damage and slowly chipping away at its health point.

The idea was crazy, but Carn had been through with many more. Thus, she nodded her head and patiently waited for the Slaughter Chainsaw to be lured into her Void Field by one of her voidlings.

With an active Void Field already in the open, Carn would be a fool to cancel it and put it on cooldown rather than simply baiting the boss into it first before testing out the theory.

Just like that, the Slaughter Chainsaw rushed ahead to use its saw arm to slay so of the voidlings that had been irritating it for a while. In the anti, its foot had stepped onto the Void Field.

Almost imdiately, Carn canceled the Void Field.

It didn’t matter how small the radius the enemy stepped into was. So long as they were within the Void Field during the cancellation, the System would recognize them as being in it.

The field began to crumble under the foot of the Slaughter Chainsaw.

When it began to notice the abnormality, it wanted to step away to evade the collapsing field.

Alas, the damage was already locked into it. A rush of void-type energy surged forth and blasted straight into the Slaughter Chainsaw.

“GROWL!” Enraged, the Slaughter Chainsaw attempted to swing its saw arm left and right to rid the void-type energy.

Unfortunately, the void-type energy was intangible and couldn’t be deflected.

Under the bombardnt of the void-type energy, the Slaughter Chainsaw stumbled a few steps backward, clearly affected by the damage that ignored its high defense.

“So broken…” Upon seeing its effect, Xu Feng had no choice but to mutter in amazent. Even with the double-digit level of differences and the enemy’s high attribute and resistance, the collapse of the Void Field still managed to deal such high damage.

While Xu Feng was baffled by the move, Carn, on the other hand, was delighted by the scene.

“Now that’s what I call damage dealing.” She grinned widely, feeling satisfied that her Void Field could be utilized in such a manner.

“Yeah, I’m not so sure if we should be celebrating now.” He suddenly frowned and noticed that the boss was just at 70% health.

He didn’t want to jinx himself and say that the boss might undergo a second phase. But when he noticed the color in the Slaughter Chainsaw changing and the substance releasing from its tiny holes started to increase, it was hard not to think in that direction.

At this mont, Carn also began to realize sothing was amiss. The atmosphere around them seed to have turned more gloomy and suffocating.

“Is it phase 2 already?” She furrowed her brows. “Was the boss that weak or was I just too strong to make it undergo phase 2 already?”

When Xu Feng heard that question, he was rather speechless. What was he supposed to reply?

The boss was weak?

Clearly not!

But was he supposed to just say she was too powerful?

Then wouldn’t that just boost her ego and impede her learning growth? He could already tell that she was starting to get complacent.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have repeatedly emphasized that she had more to learn.

He was seriously afraid that she would beco the coldhearted and ruthless demoness in the past tiline—one that was devoid of much emotion.

To simplify, he didn’t mind her being overpowered, but not at the cost of losing herself. Having interacted with her for so long, he could tell that she was the lively type.

Of course, that was only reserved for those she was close with.

Amidst their conversation, the Slaughter Chainsaw suddenly roared and shouted, “Overheat Protocol!”

As soon as it finished its word, its eyes glinted and made a whirlwind dance of 360 degrees for 3 seconds. All the voidlings nearby were completely annihilated without a chance of survival.

“Crap, that’s illegal!” Xu Feng hissed and was dumbfounded by the attack power that nuked the voidlings in one go.
