Chapter 805: Threat
As soon as Tess relayed the news that there was a man claiming to be from the Vanguard Guild, Sylvan's brows knitted.
"Are you sure they're from the Vanguard Guild?" Sylvan asked suspiciously. It was hard not to be suspicious that the other party could have been a reporter lying about their identity.
"Yes, they had a smartwatch on them that was connected to the Divine World. ID cannot be faked, and it was confird that they are Cool Wind." Tess explained fluently.
ID was certainly unable to be faked unless it was an item from the Divine World that enabled the change. Of course, such an item should have been said to be impossible to obtain and Tess wouldn't have a clue about it.
anwhile, Sylvan was silent for a mont.
He had wanted to set up a eting to resolve the matter, but the opposition ca to his doorstep first. It was never good to take the initiative unless they held a card capable of winning.
"Send them up here. I want to see what kind of elderly man I'm going to be dealing with." Sylvan exhaled softly and commanded.
He was intrigued as to what kind of sly old man he would be dealing with. So long as it was reasonable, Sylvan wouldn't mind paying a little money to stop the bleeding.
Unlike Frederick who was blinded by greed, Sylvan understood sotis, one had to take a loss and end it early. Otherwise, a small hesitation could lead to blood loss.
Naturally, it was an analogy and Sylvan's intentions were to compensate at a logical amount instead of allowing the situation to fester further and losing more in the process.
Only a fool would hang on to their money and refuse to pay compensation when the fault was clearly theirs, leading to a bad reputation and overall revenue.
Although Sylvan was kept in the dark about the matter, he was the president and thus represented Green Life Corp and Vegan Life.
However, when Sylvan noticed Tess was silent and didn't seem to act on his command, he beca confused.
"What's the matter, Tess?" He questioned. Tess was soone he had nurtured when she was young. He trusted her and she had not once disappointed him, so it was a rather surprise that she was in a daze.
As Tess snapped out of a daze, she had to correct him. "President, the person Xu Feng is a youngster, not an old man.
"A youngster?" Alard, Sylvan couldn't imagine what the opposition was thinking. Were they trying to disrespect him by sending a youngster to discuss things with him?
"Yes, but it's best that the President remained cautious of him. It's said that his cunningness is no less than a veteran." Tess warned gently.
"Hoh, you know a lot about this youngster?"
"Ahem, their na is quite famous in my district."
Although very subtle, Tess revealed the fact that she was playing the Divine World as well. She didn't wish to reveal it from the beginning, given it made her look unprofessional.
However, it was now clear that Sylvan had to understand the water in the Divine World was no less difficult than in the real world. Therefore, she had to enlighten him enough to not let his guard down.
"Hoh, it seems like they're a big shot in the Divine World." Sylvan adhered to his secretary's advice and no longer looked down on them. The fact that their company was currently suffering originated from them made it obvious how influential the Divine World was.
One wrong move and it could cause the stock market to drop like a big cruise ship that sank into the Ocean—forever subrged and unable to see the surface of light.
"When they co up, you'll lead the conversation, Tess." He ordered.
Nodding, Tess understood his aning. This was an opportunity, as well as his trust in her. The other people in the eting room also realized the company was about to undergo so changes.
With Frederick's position as Chief of External Developnt now vacant, so people wished to bring their own people to take over. But before they could even get a chance to raise any suggestion, Sylvan already made a move.
By assigning Tess to lead the conversation in the negotiation, he appeared to be determined to have her take over the vacant position.
Not only was Tess soone the President nurtured for a long ti, but its intention and motive were obvious.
He could no longer trust them to handle the business and operation of Green Life Corp. Most importantly, Sylvan was giving them a severe warning that they could be eliminated at any given mont.
Their faces turned wary and dreadful. They hoped to stay to watch how Tess would handle the matter, only to be dismissed by Sylvan.
"Only Tess and I will be present to et with the Vanguard Guild's representative. Since they took the ti to co here, I can't afford to put on a grand show and let the situation fester." Sylvan calmly stated.
Despite the reason sounding very logical, anyone with a discernible insight could understand that they were barred from knowing the outco.
If Tess were to fail, then no one else but Sylvan would know. And if Tess were to succeed, then his words alone were enough to sway the shareholders.
The company's stock was failing, and shareholders were infuriated.
Yet not one of them voiced a matter about him stepping down from the position. All they did was vent their frustration from losing money, and Sylvan also understood that aspect. Who wouldn't be furious when their steady stream of money suddenly turned into a losing stream?
Overall, his position was steady as a mountain, but it was his pride and reputation that caused him to be enraged.
The shareholders trusted him, but he failed their trust and even allowed a parasite to cause such devastating damage to the company's value.
Therefore, Sylvan would not allow this situation to happen again and made his threat clear to the remaining people in the eting room. Either buckle up and do better, or get the hell out of the company.
'I have to dabble in video gas when I'm so old already. What an irony.' Sylvan sighed and wondered what was the allure of the Divine World.
Shortly after the remaining people in the eting room at Green Life Corp made their exit, Sylvan turned to Tess and began questioning details about the Divine World.
"Is the ga really that fun?" He asked skeptically.
"It's not just a ga, President." Tess smiled and shook her head.
"The imrsion in the Divine World is just like living in another world. The experience is surreal and one would have lost their sense of reality if it weren't for the system interface." She continued, ntioning how one could easily forget they weren't in the real world when playing.
Startled, Sylvan's expression beca intrigued. He had nurtured and trained Tess for a long ti. There was never a ti when he could see Tess enjoying sothing this much.
"Is that so…" Sylvan uttered and furrowed his brows. "Should I give it a try as well? But I'm afraid my physical condition would be a burden to play."
