Crimson Heart had been rendered speechless by her supposed clever Guild Leader to suddenly ask such a ridiculous question.
'When did he beco such an honest person?' She even began to suspect if Xu Feng had been hit in the head or if an imposter had taken over his account.
Throughout their interaction, albeit not much, she could confirm he was one shrewd cunning four-eyes that prioritized profits and benefits over anything.
The fact that he could even resort to psychologically manipulating her to join his guild and still had the nerve to admit it without an ounce of sha when confronted was proof of his personality.
While Crimson Heart was confused by his sudden change of behavior, Xu Feng's eyes remained crystal clear as he gazed at Yaren for her response.
"Oh, why did you propose such a question?" Yaren mused and turned her attention to Crimson Heart.
She pointed at her and told Xu Feng, "Look at her. Even she is shocked by your question and must have been thinking why you would even attempt to reveal your intention of using the item I give you for the task to be used for another thing."
Although it was sowhat embarrassing to be caught by Yaren's keen perception, Crimson Heart still nodded in response. There was no point in lying about her thoughts when she got caught red-handed anyway.
With all eyes on him now, Xu Feng chuckled softly and shrugged his shoulders.
"Surely, you must be jesting, Elder Yaren. If I truly used the item for my own purposes, then with your ability, would you remain ignorant about it?" He exclaid, finding her actions amusing.
Maybe if he was an ignorant player like Crimson Heart, then he would have truly done it in secret, but unfortunately, he was not. There had been clear examples and cases in his past tiline.
And let's just say, their fate didn't go quite well.
At this mont, Yaren burst out laughing and slamming her palm at the desk.
"I'm amazed by your honesty, Feng. Alright, you have my permission to use the item for your other task, but keep in mind." She then put on a solemn expression and warned sternly, "Regardless if your result in the investigation is successful or not, I expect it to be returned to
within 3 weeks."
"Rest assured, I'm not one to break a promise." Xu Feng smiled calmly, subtly reminding her that he made a deal with the Earthrender.
"Okay, seeing how keen you are, your 2nd place reward for the competition is over here." Yaren waved her hand and items began appearing on top of the desk.
As the pile of items erged from the desk, Xu Feng quickly glanced at them and identified them: Blueprint Ironclad Shield, Enhanced Emberstone (x5), Mana-infused Blacksmith's Hamr, Paradise Plains Guild Certificate (30 days), and finally Crafting Experience Boost (20%).
The first two items were pretty self-explanatory, with the mana-infused hamr increasing the quality of any items slightly and speeding up the forging by 5%.
As for the Paradise Plains Guild Certificate, it was a temporary certificate that when used. For the next following 30 days, the holder would have access to the city's resources in Paradise Plains, including workshops and crafting materials at a discounted rate.
Lastly, the crafting experience boost was exactly the na itself, and it was an active item that had a duration of 7 days. In other words, Xu Feng could use the boost lasting up to 1 second or 7 days depending on how long he wanted to use the boost.
However, that wasn't even the great part about the item. Instead, it was the fact that the item was tradable, aning he could nurture many other Blacksmith enthusiasts for the Vanguard guild.
Instantly storing all the items in his inventory, Xu Feng rubbed his hands and questioned softly, "Um, Elder Yaren, I recalled there are money rewards such as 5 gold coins for second place."
Yaren smirked coldly upon hearing it. "Indeed there is, but you wanted to use the Aether Compass for your personal business. 5 gold coins are a rather cheap price to use for my precious item."
"..."
"Pfft," Crimson Heart let out a giggle when she realized Yaren had pulled a fast one on Xu Feng. She snuck a glance at the current Xu Feng, and sure enough, his expression might not have changed on the surface, but she was positive that he was feeling like shit at the mont. Continue your journey with empire
'Haha, karma really does exist!' Crimson Heart inwardly exclaid.
A few seconds later, Yaren lost interest in the conversation with him, or it seed more like she was unwilling to hear him trying to argue with her.
"Anyway, you may leave now. I still have sothing to do with Crimson Heart here." Yaren declared, clearly ntioning the part where she would personally ntor Crimson Heart in the blacksmith aspect.
anwhile, Xu Feng was taken aback slightly.
"Right… there's that reward." He mumbled, forgetting that Yaren had personally added this particular reward and that it wasn't on the official rules.
Sensing sothing, Yaren raised an eyebrow. "It can't be that your personal business requires her presence? If so, then let
warn you about sothing. My ti is precious, so if she decides to go with you, then she can forget about my ntorship."
Xu Feng's face twitched, knowing she was pulling yet another fast one against him.
'What kind of targeting is this?' He wondered silently.
To make things worse, he had a feeling that she was doing this on purpose.
And he wasn't wrong to have such a feeling either.
'Hmph, I got yelled at by Earthrender because of your antics, and you still want
to treat you well? If it wasn't for the fact that you are contracted to Earthrender's baby, then I would have made you suffer even more.' Yaren sneered inwardly.
Due to her relationship with the Earthrender, she couldn't afford to truly sabotage the latter's offspring. And since Earthrender's rage stemd from Xu Feng's conduct, she was naturally wise enough to direct her anger to the correct target.
