Chapter 1307: Carn’s Early Journey Part 4
The figure who was able to access the exclusive path was none other than Xu Feng, who remained unaware of Carn’s plight.
He wasn’t just clueless about this aspect, but also that there were Reaver Guild mbers nearby.
His mind was occupied and focused on hiring so NPCs in the rcenary Association. He didn’t have the ti or effort to pick on the Reaver Guild at the mont when ti was of the essence.
’It’s all Kai’s fault that I’m delayed for so long..’ Xu Feng clicked his tongue.
...
Oakwood Town, rcenary Association
Prior to Xu Feng’s arrival, Carn was already here and made a recruitnt post.
[Hiring a rcenary -10 copper coins!]
Carn mustered up her courage and sha to write the recruitnt poster.
She could sense many disdainful gazes directed at her when they saw the offering price.
After all, just a few ters away from her was another NPC who offered 30 copper coins.
The lowest amount possible was still 25 copper coins. And that was only because they were hiring the lowest rcenary Tier.
’Sure enough... These NPCs aren’t foolish coding programs.’ Despite not holding much hope, Carn was still ultimately left disappointed.
Her mood was down, and she was starting to lose her motivation to continue playing. There was no joy in the Divine World.
Actually... there was that one ti with the team up. But that all went down the drain.
Even though she got along well with them in the beginning, the reality was often harsh and cruel. In the face of the strong, even those who were close to you a mont ago could instantly turn their back on you.
’I should just log out and return the virtual helt.’ Carn sighed and was about to put her poster away until she accidentally bumped into a rcenary.
"Watch where you’re going, woman!" The rcenary was instantly annoyed and called her out.
Knowing that the fault was hers, Carn quickly apologized.
In the anti, the rcenary demanded so compensation in return for the trouble.
"I’m sorry." Carn apologized timidly. She was afraid that offending the NPC might cause her to be condemned even further.
It was said that so players who offended the NPC in the town, thinking that they could do whatever they wanted, were exiled.
If she were to be exiled now, then she would beco a helpless prey for the villainous Reaver Guild.
While she apologized repeatedly, the rcenary glanced at her recruitnt post.
"Woman, are you joking with ? You expect to hire , a Tier 1 rcenary, for just 10 copper coins? Do you take
for a fool?" The Tier 1 rcenary shouted loudly in a displeased tone.
"N-No, that’s not it." Carn timidly shook her head and responded. "It’s just that I only have 10 copper coins with ."
Seeing the timid reaction, the displeased Tier 1 rcenary was utterly speechless.
"Ah, forget it." Finally, the Tier 1 rcenary waved his hand to dismiss her.
"It’s just my luck that I expect a greenhorn like you to have any money. Don’t bother
any longer; otherwise, don’t bla
for being impolite."
Carn was ashad, embarrassed, timid, and helpless. Even the NPC was able to talk down to her.
’Maybe I’m just destined to be a useless person.’ Her confidence was shattered like broken glass.
Just when she lost all hope, Xu Feng, who had been watching curiously by the side, took a step forward and approached her.
"Hi, why are you trying to hire a rcenary?" He asked.
—
Upon finishing recalling the early journey in her mories, Carn couldn’t help but feel like her heart was about to lt.
Xu Feng’s approach and question were what brought her back from the darkness.
"Feng, did you know that I might have quit if it weren’t for your appearance?" Carn leaned harder on his chest, her fingers interlocking with his.
"My early days were really difficult. I went from confidence to sorrow and helplessness. But you lifted
up and gradually changed my outlook for the Divine World."
"It’s the sa for ." Xu Feng planted a kiss on her forehead and smiled.
"You have no idea how much your appearance has affected my trajectory." He continued.
Back then, he held so plans in mind that were quite risky. However, Carn’s presence changed his decision.
Knowing that she was the future Demoness who dominated the Divine World independently, Xu Feng was determined to recruit her.
Sure, it was an impure thought at the ti. But the truth remained that he had always prioritized her resources, well-being, and every miscellaneous aspect first.
As the two proceeded to reminisce about their past and speak up truthfully about their thoughts, they couldn’t help but giggle from ti to ti.
"Hah, so you were never that naive and innocent?" Xu Feng shook his head and found himself to be a clown. He had truly thought she was naive and innocent. He never thought that it was just a defensive act made by Carn after a terrible and painful experience.
Being sharp-witted and clever would only bring downfall when you have nothing to support it.
"Well, you never really asked and acted like you knew it all." Carn stuck her tongue out playfully.
"Haa, you’ve really gotten courageous now, eh?" Xu Feng tickled her stomach as punishnt.
Instantly, Carn crackled in laughter as she tried to resist and stop him from tickling her further. "I was wrong, Feng. I give up."
"No, you’re not."
"I am~"
As the tickling stopped, the two suddenly paused for a mont. Their eyes were locked together, and their bodies had gotten even closer.
The two of them had their hearts gradually beating rapidly, especially now that they had the full picture of how they t and what they experienced prior to their eting.
"I think our eting is fated from the start," Carn muttered sweetly.
"I must admit... the Reaver Guild did one good thing." Xu Feng nodded.
"One good thing?" Confused, she was about to lash out at him, having mistakenly believed he was teasing her. Though the feeling only lasted very briefly because of his next sentence.
"Mhmm, their actions made you stumble across my life." He smiled gently before leaning closer to her face.
Carn’s hands clutched tightly on his chest. She soon closed her eyes and allowed him to kiss her passionately.
