Chapter 1286: Global Manhunt Part 10
Peterson heaved a sigh of relief when he watched Zhang Jingyi approach him.
He extended his hands and was willing to be put in handcuffs.
The handcuffs would lock out his spells and guarantee to the rest that he would be harmless.
’Phew, I’m finally free of this damn pursuit.’ Peterson was filled with a grudge against Xu Feng for trapping him. This was a Global Manhunt for him and his guild mbers. Yet he sohow beca a part of them through so crooked ans.
’Lin Feng, just you wait. You may have stalled a bit of the ti with
as bait, but you won’t laugh for long.’
Peterson was positive that as long as their group beca clear-headed and recognized who the real enemies were, the one who got the last laugh would be him.
While he was thinking wickedly in his mind, Zhang Jingyi paused her steps and was about to handcuff him.
Unfortunately, right at the mont, Zhang Jingyi’s eyes suddenly narrowed.
"Damn it, you’re still in cahoots with the Guild Leader Lin Feng??!" She exclaid and hurriedly cast a protective shield.
Alas, it was a little bit too late.
Concealed within Peterson’s equipnt were so petals left behind from the Bloom Construct.
It blinked a few tis before a large explosion was created.
Peterson was shielded by Xu Feng, so he was safe and sound.
However, Zhang Jingyi was caught off guard and was directly blasted into a nearby rock.
She coughed up a mouthful of blood, her impromptu barrier shattered like fractured glass. Her health points also dropped by a whopping 40% from the explosive damage.
As Zhang Jingyi was put in a precarious state, the collective crowd, specifically the males who were already chard by her beauty, beca livid.
"Peterson, you motherfucking backstabbing bastard!"
"Surrender my ass! This piece of shit actually wants to eliminate our beauty, Tier 2 Swordsman!"
In the blink of an eye, the tranquil atmosphere quickly descended back to chaos.
Peterson, on the other hand, looked like a dumb chicken. He stared at Zhang Jingyi and then at his position.
"It wasn’t !" He finally uttered after a few seconds. "This explosion wasn’t detonated by ! It’s the Vanguard Guild Leader!"
"No shit, it’s the Vanguard Guild Leader! You’re the damn carrier who wishes to nuke us all by making us lower our guard!"
"You’re dead at, Peterson! How dare you harm my goddess!"
Peterson’s body flinched in fear when he sensed a large killing intent directed at him. This ti, he could feel they were determined to slice and dice him into multiple pieces.
Knowing that their fury stemd from Zhang Jingyi and her beauty, Peterson hurriedly shifted his attention to her.
"Senior, you should know it wasn’t my fault." He said and hoped that she could see the clear picture. "It’s Lin Feng! He’s the one who placed those petals on my equipnt during the pursuit."
He thought Zhang Jingyi could differentiate between black and white.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t be any more wrong when Zhang Jingyi coughed another few tis.
She held an aggrieved expression as she stared at Peterson.
"You claid to surrender, and I chose to trust you. But you actually sched against
and wanted
dead. Do you seriously think you and your background could swallow the whole drop loot?" She said in a bittersweet tone.
Her pitiful and painful expression, which clearly showed her trust was betrayed, caused the others to feel her emotions.
’Hehe, this kind of acting sure is easy to pull off.’ Zhang Jingyi sneered inwardly. She didn’t expect Xu Feng’s thod to work so beautifully and almost completely in line with what they had exchanged in the ssages.
Indeed, this was the plan she had orchestrated with Xu Feng. Because the enemies were too large, they needed to divide them bit by bit.
What better way to divide a large group of enemies composed in an abrupt manner than to make them have separate opinions and discord among themselves?
Soti later, Peterson found himself caged like a trapped rat.
"No, I didn’t do it!" He screeched, hoping to be spared.
Even as a Tier 2 Arcane Mage, to be sward by multiple crazed Tier 2 players were extrely difficult to deflect. Not to ntion, the terrain was very narrow for him to escape from.
"Peterson, you really are one of a kind!" Amidst the commotion, Xu Feng erged from the mountaintop and shouted.
"I only told you to stall them with the explosion, but you went ahead and targeted a beauty like her. You are indeed unique and are no simp! You’ve earned my respect, but not my approval. Even I’m not that villainous to treat a kind-hearted woman with evil."
"..."
’I’ll fuck your entire generation!’ Peterson was seething in rage. What respect was that?
That was a goddamn death sentence!
In essence, what Xu Feng said was a bunch of gibberish in the beginning until the ending part.
It effectively painted him as a vile man who repays good with evil, and that he was not soone you should befriend.
As if that slander wasn’t infuriating enough, the situation made him unable to refute the statent.
Was Zhang Jingyi hard by him?
Yes!
Was Zhang Jingyi trying to salvage the situation and lend him a hand, only to end up being backstabbed?
Absolutely!
Did Xu Feng make any move from start to end?
Nobody had seen it except that the damage ca from Peterson himself!
’This was all a trap and an act!’ Peterson quickly ca to a realization that the true impostor had to be Zhang Jingyi.
Otherwise, why would she suddenly lend him a hand?
He wasn’t exactly handso or soone who could charm others imdiately. He at least knew his limit and wouldn’t shalessly claim to be a main character type.
Alas, even if he figured out the entire truth, he didn’t dare to openly accuse Zhang Jingyi of being the impostor. With the current heat, he would only receive more beatings.
"Lin Feng... I’ll rember today’s grudge!!!" Peterson vowed silently, thinking his health points had dropped to 0.
Unfortunately, even death had to be requested.
"What grudge are you talking about?" Xu Feng asked innocently, healing Peterson to full HP.
"Although you’re a shaless villain, we’re a team after all. You can’t die under my watch."
