Chapter 1004: Money Laundering
Being called the prophet when he was rely a bit perspective, Xu Feng found it hard to accept such a label.
“I’m no prophet.” He quickly denied Rebecca’s statent.
“I only said what I perceived. Liam’s foundation is clearly superior to Samuel’s, yet the forr is overwheld from start to end. It’s just unbelievable and clearly a red herring that Liam was scheming sothing.”
Nodding in repeat, Rebecca couldn’t be bothered about the sophisticated details.
All she knew was that she was more interested in hearing Xu Feng’s analysis and comnts on the upcoming matches.
Although the emcee Peter had done comntary during the battles, it was simply glorifying and exaggerating the fight without any real substance.
On the contrary, Xu Feng didn’t bother with glorifying anything and spoke his analysis without any hesitation.
“We should just block off the volu and watch the fight as Xu Feng does the comntary. Peter is just not up to par.” Rebecca suggested.
Allison didn’t chi in, but her expression showed that she agreed. She had heard many types of comntary similar to Peter’s in the past. Thus, she found it boring and nearly fell asleep occasionally.
Had it not been for Xu Feng and Rebecca’s presence, then she might have already taken her leave by now.
“I’m not cheap as a comntary.” Xu Feng suddenly said. He then pointed at Peter, “As an emcee for a city competition being broadcasted live to many, I’m sure his paycheck is hefty.”
“You can’t be serious, right?” Allison twitched her mouth in disbelief. The earlier bet they placed on Liam was already paid.
Their total bet amount was 5 million, and the payout ratio was 1 to 1.5. In other words, they received 7.5 million.
After so calculations in the distribution, Xu Feng alone earned a little bit over a million dollars. And that still stemd from the fact that Xu Feng offered nothing to bet.
Was a million dollars not enough for the paycheck he talked about?
Sure enough, Xu Feng was sowhat quiet when Allison brought up the calculation of his winning money.
“How about this? You can keep the 7.5 million dollars as the paycheck and comntary for the upcoming battles. We can continue to place our bet on your judgnt and Allison will cover for you.” Rebecca clasped her hands and suggested.
Her eyes were practically sparkling in the deanor of a business person.
Xu Feng initially wanted to refuse, but then he wondered silently. This could indeed be a lucrative one-ti money-earning event.
Moreover, the funds he earned from this venture could be used to increase the Vanguard Guild’s overall wealth.
“You have yourself a deal.” He nodded and began to take the competition seriously. There was no chance he would take the subject lightly now that the money would co into his pocket.
As the next fighters were determined through the randomization, Xu Feng’s eyes narrowed.
“Hmm, both fighters are equally sturdy and have similar foundations. To win this battle, one needed to have better luck and technique.” He comnted.
Unlike the first battle in which there was a discretion that Xu Feng had spotted, this second battle fighter was nearly identical.
“So you can’t determine who can win?” Rebecca furrowed her brows.
“I lack the necessary data,” he replied. Although he could still attempt to make a guess, he wasn’t going to lie and claim that the other fighter had a higher chance without knowing much.
Just at this mont, Allison smacked her head slightly.
Her action caused the other two to beco baffled.
“What are you doing?” Rebecca asked in concern.
Xu Feng glanced at her with a confused look.
“Ah, I forgot to ntion that VIP Booths have the information of each fighter in advance. This is the key advantage of those in the VIP, but because I never participated in it, it slipped out of my mind.” Allison said awkwardly.
Her uncle, Alfred, had already inford him in advance of the nurous features.
But because she wasn’t that interested and she was occupied with trying to nd the relationship between her friend and forr student, the information just went out of the window.
Rebecca: …
Xu Feng: …
At this mont, the two of them wondered if they should strangle Allison on the spot.
She was supposed to be the most knowledgeable one out of them all, granted that her uncle was literally on the expert sections.
“You’re so lucky that you’re my bestie.” Rebecca clicked her tongue and suppressed her urge. Had it been one of her subordinates, then she would have long fired them. Such incompetence was not needed in her circle.
As for Xu Feng, he kept quiet and recalled his ignorant self in the past tiline. When he recalled how Allison still treated him nicely with respect, he ultimately sighed and gave up.
“Anyway, do you know where to access the information?” Xu Feng questioned and pointed out that Peter was just about to be done explaining the fighter’s background.
“Yes, you can go through the tablet screen and input your na. Only the na of the registered VIP ticket could access the confidential information.” Allison said and proceeded to walk toward Xu Feng’s side to help him.
A few seconds later, Xu Feng was granted access and noticed all the fighter’s information in an in-depth manner.
“Damn, so they already listed Liam’s past fighting history and ntioned how he’s a patient fighter who would only strike when he knew it would succeed.” Rebecca hissed coldly.
The audience beneath them didn’t have any access to the information, so they naturally couldn’t discern Liam’s frightening record.
However, the VIP booth was different and they could have easily struck it big with this kind of information.
Suddenly, realization dawned upon Rebecca.
“Aish, no wonder why there was a limit cap to how much I can bet.” She clicked her tongue and glanced at the other VIP Booth.
Rebecca might not have explicitly said it aloud, but both Xu Feng and Allison ca to a realization.
The so-called betting pool was just a hoax for the rich to do so money laundering. Well, it wasn’t exactly laundering but a way to earn so extra cash whereas the audience beneath remained ignorant and thought they were going to strike it rich.
The payout ratio especially was a scam to swindle the audience to bet on the losing fighter.
Based on the information listed, it was essentially a self-declaration to the rich that Liam had the highest chance of winning as opposed to Samuel, who was perceived as the favored fighter by the public.
