Chapter 1002: Winning and Losing

Seeing how nonchalant Rebecca was in betting a whopping 5 million dollars, Xu Feng nearly cried and wanted to hug her rich thighs.

’Dear lord, I only have a little bit over 3 million as my total wealth.’ He barely managed to scrape by to beco a millionaire but in front of the authentic rich people. His wealth was truly laughable and nonexistent.

Maybe this is why so poor people enjoy happiness more than the rich.

After all, the poor still get by through family love whereas the rich only had eyes on the superficial reputation and honor.

"Looks like the battle is starting," Allison exclaid, her eyes gazing at the battle stage.

Upon hearing that, both Rebecca and Xu Feng also turned to look at the stage.

The emcee, Peter, declared the start of the match.

As soon as the declaration was made, Samuel from Erden City had already rushed forward and unleashed a barrage of attacks toward Liam from Farios City.

At that mont, Liam was being overwheld by Samuel. He had no chance of retaliation and was forced into a completely defensive stance.

"Yeah, Samuel! Thrash that loser from Farios City!"

"Haha, this is the easiest money I’ve earned. This Liam can’t even launch a single strike!"

"Damn it. What is this Liam doing? I betted on him thinking a miracle would happen. But this bastard can’t even muster a single punch? Even my 3-year-old son can punch the air and create so effect."

As the audience below started yelling their words, Samuel was exhilarated.

There were so many praises and complints directed at him for showing such a strong display of strength.

’Hehe, this Liam is really a good stepping stone for .’ Samuel thought to himself. Since this was the very first match of the city competition held in Avalon City, it was destined that this battle would be etched into everyone’s mindset.

In other words, this was his chance to be in the lilight.

Hence, the mont Peter declared the start of the battle, he hurriedly used over 80% of his strength to put his opponent at a disadvantage.

The only frustrating thing was that his opponent was really a turtle-like bastard.

Other than blocking so of his lethal strikes and defending the other attack aid at his other vitals, Liam only continued to beco a little pest.

"Stop hiding like a turtle and fight honorably." Samuel cursed in anger. His explosive strength sohow failed to end the battle in the blink of an eye, was infuriating enough. Yet Liam still remained on the defensive form, showing barely any flaws or openings for him to take advantage of.

Was he here to beco a punching bag or as a competitor hoping to advance to the next round?

As the battle continued to prolong, the audience in the crowd didn’t have their enthusiasm dampened one bit. They continued to shout and cheer excitedly, with most of them raining curses at Liam for being such a cowardly fighter.

"Why is Liam just blocking and not making a move?" Back at the VIP Booth, Rebecca frowned and felt bored. Despite the betting ratio being 0.5 difference, she didn’t expect the fight to beco so one-sided.

"This feels so scripted and a scam." She added, feeling annoyed at the situation. She wasn’t complaining about losing the money she bet. Instead, she was complaining about how a city competition fight could turn out to be such a disappointnt.

Besides Rebecca, even Allison was sowhat losing her interest.

She was a professor and rarely enjoyed fighting events. Thus, her interest wasn’t high to begin with. Now that she was also witnessing a punching bag fight, she stopped spectating and went on her phone to prepare for the upcoming guest lecturer.

Only Xu Feng held a different opinion and believed Liam was a troubleso opponent for Zhao Kai.

"What you perceive might not be the truth." He suddenly comnted. "Liam might be on the defensive from the beginning, but he was also conserving his Energy Force and stamina."

"What’s the point of conserving them when there’s three rounds in total? Each ending round interval gives the fighter ample ti to recover. Moreover, the rounds are being calculated in points by the five judges." Rebecca rolled her eyes and pointed at a special panel where five esteed people were sitting.

They were judges from the respective city of this current competition. This was also information said earlier by Allison. It was done to ensure fairness, and the judges were all respected seniors who definitely wouldn’t play favor.

Given that each fighter was all talented, it would be hard for one to completely overpower or knock out the other opponent in a short span of ti.

Each round lasted for precisely 3 minutes, and once the 3 minutes were up, they had to pause their action.

Then they would take 5 minutes of rest, or more if one of the opponents used their allocated 2 privileges to extend the ti by 1 minute.

The setup was ticulously tested, so each round was crucial to earn points from the judges.

And right now, Samuel should have earned a lot of points for overwhelming Liam.

Who hadn’t tried to conserve the stamina and energy force for the last round?

This was such a common tactic. Although so of them had succeeded, the chance of success rate was extrely low. Such a common tactic could easily be countered and be denied.

"The points that Samuel got so far would be impossible to catch up with." Allison chid in and said after giving another glance at the battle stage.

"Indeed, points would be impossible to catch up with, but who said one needs points to secure absolute victory?" Xu Feng mused, his eyes narrowing at the underdog Liam.

Winning and losing were mostly subjective, but definitely not in a competition, especially one that involved fighting.

"Liam might be losing the edge completely and gaining a ton of hate, but once he overturned with one single move. Those hates would vanish like thin air. As for the overbearing and seemingly powerful Samuel, he would turn into nothing but a joke in the competition."
