The next day, Chu Yuxiao went to attend the morning court session, leaving Su Yan alone in Lingxiao Palace. Just as she was feeling bored, a palace maid ca to report that Nanzhao Suya wanted to see her.
Su Yan was taken aback at first, but soon guessed the reason for the summons.

“The Emperor said that in his presence, I need not perform any grand gesture nor refer to myself as a maid. May I ask, if I can do this before the Emperor, why not in front of the Princess? Does that an the Princess’s status is higher than the Emperor’s?”
The palace maid was rendered speechless by her words, her face turned red then pale, not knowing what to say.
Suya, however, responded quickly, saying calmly, “We weren’t aware of the Emperor exempting you from protocol. And since you didn’t clarify beforehand, it makes sense that my servant reprimanded you.”
Su Yan’s eyes revealed a hint of admiration. Not bad, she’s indeed a Princess raised in the Imperial Palace; her response was rather sharp.
“You may sit down. I called for you today to discuss sothing,” Suya gestured to a small stool beside her.
The stool was not even as high as a person’s knee.
If Su Yan sat down, she would have to look up at Suya sitting high on the couch.
She chuckled inwardly; this little girl clearly had no subtlety, her intentions were all too obvious.
Su Yan sat down nonchalantly, slightly looking up and asked with a smile, “Princess, whatever it is, feel free to ask.”
