The soldiers charged straight at Aaron, spears lowered and gleaming with deadly intent.
Their tips hovered only inches from his chest, ready to pierce through flesh and bone.
But they never got the chance.
In a single heartbeat, every soldier except the captain burst into bright, roaring flas.
The fire erupted from within them, white-hot and rciless, consuming armor, flesh, and bone in the blink of an eye.
Screams tore through the air for less than a second before dying into silence.
Nothing remained but drifting ash and the faint sll of scorched tal.
Only the captain stood frozen in place, untouched, his face drained of all color.
Everyone stared in stunned horror. Aaron hadn't lifted a finger.
He hadn't even looked at them.
Yet an entire squad of imperial soldiers had simply ceased to exist.
"You… you dare kill the soldiers of the Imperial Emperor?" the captain stamred, voice cracking with disbelief.
Open defiance against the empire was sothing he had never witnessed in his entire career.
Aaron finally turned his gaze toward him, eyes cold and bored.
"Are you going to attack or not? You're starting to annoy ."
The captain's face twisted with rage and fear. "You… I will return! And when I co back with reinforcents, be sure to say your last words!" He spun his horse around and galloped away, kicking up clouds of dust in his desperate escape.
Lin Guo watched the retreating figure with a bitter, helpless expression. "My lord… why did you spare him? At least we could have delayed the imperial family from learning what happened and striking back."
Aaron shrugged lightly, already turning his attention back to the trembling new disciple beside him.
"You worry too much about such small things. Thinking too hard about enemies is what the weak do. And I'm anything but weak."
With the violent scene fresh in everyone's minds, the recruitnt area emptied rapidly.
Word spread like wildfire. No one else dared approach the table. Fear of being caught in the storm between the sect and the empire kept every potential disciple far away.
In the end, only ten more people joined, mostly desperate wanderers and a few curious souls who had arrived before the soldiers appeared.
Eleven disciples in total. Aaron considered it more than enough.
Soon they returned to the floating sect. The new recruits gazed upward in awe as the majestic pagodas and grand halls drifted gracefully among the clouds, their jaws slack with wonder.
"All of you head to the training hall," Aaron instructed calmly. "Pick any cultivation technique that suits your Dao. If you need guidance or anything else, speak to him."
He gestured, and a perfect copy of himself materialized beside the group, Astral, his loyal clone. "He will handle everything while I'm busy."
The new disciples bowed deeply, eyes shining with excitent and reverence.
Aaron nodded once, then vanished from sight, retreating into his private cultivation chamber deep within the sect master's residence.
He still hadn't abandoned the idea of rging every single talent and essence he possessed into one ultimate, singular ability.
The thought burned in his mind like an unquenchable fla.
Before diving into that monuntal task, however, he created two more clones with a casual wave of his hand, Shadow and Ego.
"Combined with my mystic eyes, the two of you are perfect for infiltration and hunting," Aaron told them.
"You still carry the scent of Baal, X, and those demonic cultivators. Find them. Watch them. Report back the mont you learn anything useful."
Shadow and Ego bowed silently, then lted into the darkness, disappearing without a trace.
"Speaking of clones…" Aaron murmured to himself.
He recreated Retribution and sent him straight to the sanctuary in Athanys.
Soone reliable needed to handle administration there and give his wives room to breathe.
With Retribution's full power restored, they could finally relax.
Next, he ford Void and Weaver. "Head to the imperial army. Deal with any annoying problems that might arise before they reach us."
The two clones vanished instantly.
Finally, Aaron created one last clone, Avatar, who carried perfect mastery over the four primal elents: fla, water, wind, and terra. "Do as you please," he told him simply.
Avatar gave a small grin and disappeared to explore the world on his own.
Aaron paused there. For now, more clones would serve no purpose.
"Alright," he muttered, cracking his knuckles with a satisfied grin. "Ti to practice."
He settled into a cross-legged position, ready to begin the long process of rging his powers. Then a thought struck him.
"Right. System draw."
The familiar chi rang in his mind.
[Congratulations! You have gained the Origin Rank Bloodline — Fla Father!]
Aaron stared at the glowing notification, unable to hide the wide, genuine smile that spread across his face.
"Well, well, well," he whispered, eyes gleaming with satisfaction. "I struck pure gold this ti."
