But what nobody expected was that after Joshua explained Bartlett's request to validate his spell theory, the Arbiter Court mber didn't hesitate at all, and gladly accepted the task.
What was even more unexpected was that, in the Arbiter Court's testing grounds, Bartlett displayed the power of an Enchantnt Mage in a way that took everyone by surprise.
Even though the spells themselves weren't especially destructive, Bartlett's magic, "Finger of Distortion" and "Finger of Correction," were both highly suited for the Arbiter Court's needs regarding ntal distortion and restoration.
The mbers present at the Arbiter Court were all very fond of these two spells, and imdiately called their creator a "Genius Mage!"
Later, to further experint with the efficacy of the two spells, the group began to conduct more detailed live-animal experints right there in the Arbiter Court's facilities.
After the experints, everyone realized the biggest issue with these two spells was that they were unable to restore or correct beings whose mories had completely collapsed.
But… what else could you say? Young Bartlett really was a Genius Mage!
Knowing just how important this seminar was to the teachers still living in Ebel Tram City at the ti, Bartlett didn't hesitate to pick up those two spells and, using his own ideas and talents, pushed their developnt even further.
This bout of research lasted straight through until the next morning.
Such perseverance eventually touched Joshua's heart, who had co quietly to observe, and he decided to do a little more for this young genius.
That day, the magic tests conducted within the Judgent Court went exceptionally smoothly; the Judgent Court didn't hesitate to grant Bartlett the authority to host a Mage seminar in their na.
Excited, Bartlett borrowed Joshua's communication crystal and finally reached out to the teachers and older students still in the city-state, sharing the thrilling news with them.
That day, Bartlett wheeled Joshua over to the communication crystal and said, with radiant pride:
"It was only thanks to the help of our compatriots that the institution's directors were willing to test our magic—he is our great benefactor."

And it was through this conversation that Joshua learned—since there was no professional Mage Tower in Ebel City-state at the ti, they couldn't rely on the tower spirit to research the limits of these new spells.
Because of that, they simply couldn't figure out a way to complete the experints, so they hoped to get help from so mages through the seminar.
As Joshua talked more with Bartlett, he learned that Bartlett's teacher had set up a modest magical workshop not far from the neighborhood where he used to live.
That area had a beautiful lake; when Joshua was very young, he rembered his father taking him there to learn how to swim.
Afterward… after that, his father died.
He'd been out sowhere and was killed by so unknown attack—when the body ca back, it was nothing but scattered lower limbs.
Later… he and his mother left that place of sorrow and went to the legendary nation of lifelong sanctuary, the Holy Brinya. When he looked back, he realized over thirty years had passed without him noticing.
Such a long ti had gone by; his mories of Ebel City-state had beco completely hazy, so much so that when he picked up the docunts Bartlett had handed him, the mother tongue script felt utterly unfamiliar.
It looked… almost like aningless symbols.
Rarely did Joshua talk about his past; Bartlett grinned and said to him:
"Actually, I've had a similar life. Around age ten, I fled with my parents to Ingelance City-state. It was the people there who gave us a chance to survive, and only then could I start to learn magic.
Later on, in Ingelance City-state, I learned the basics of spell theory, earned my rank as a Tier-2 Mage, and then my mother and I returned to Ebel City-state."
Joshua was shocked: "Why? I've always kept up with the news from Ebel City-state—it should've been devastated by economic blockades, internal strife, all sorts of hardship!"

Bartlett stared deeply at Kael.
"And then?" Kael glanced expectantly at Bartlett at just the right mont.
Honestly, he was really curious how Bartlett had replied back then.
But Bartlett only patted his shoulder and, smiling mischievously, said, "Take a guess."
Kael fell silent, realizing Bartlett was just teasing him.
"My Lord, we've arrived." The voice of a maid ca from outside the carriage.
The two got out of the carriage.
Bartlett lifted his head, looking up at the sky.
