I listened intently to the voices calling out to , sending shivers down my spine. My body trembled as a cold sweat ran down my face. There was an imnse energy radiating from the voices, but their owners did not reveal themselves.
Not just one—there were many voices.
I had no idea who they were, but among their countless murmurs, there was only one phrase that they all repeated, over and over again:
"Child of Fate."
I swallowed hard, trying to calm my racing heart.
"Who are you? And what is this ’Child of Fate’ you keep ntioning?!" I demanded, my voice firm despite my unease.
There was a brief silence.
Then—
"Who are ’we’?! How dare you address us so informally, you insolent brat—!" one of the voices snapped, clearly irritated.
But before it could continue, another voice quickly interrupted.
"Enough! Calm yourself! Ahem... Let us focus on the matter at hand."
The new voice spoke in a much more composed tone.
"We are the ones who will oversee your trial today. We will judge whether or not you are worthy of becoming this world’s hero."
Another voice chid in, this one carrying a hint of amusent.
"That’s right... And as for your question about ’Child of Fate’... Haha, well, you’ll find out soon enough once this trial begins."
There was sothing deeply unsettling about the way it spoke.
I clenched my fists, trying to piece everything together. The sheer presence of these voices—they were not human.
I had my suspicions.
Could they be gods?
Or perhaps beings of an even higher existence?
Regardless, I needed answers.
"Very well, I understand," I said carefully. "But before we begin, I have a question of my own."
The voices fell silent for a mont, as if waiting for to continue.
"I did not co here alone. My partner, Envi—he is a part of . Yet I cannot sense him anywhere."
I clenched my jaw, forcing down my growing anxiety.
Even when I called out to him within my own soul, there was no response.
"Tell ... Where is he?"
A mont of eerie silence stretched between us.
Then, one of the voices finally answered.
"Ahh, that noisy little thing? We were quite surprised that it managed to enter this realm as well. Only you were ant to take this trial."
The voice paused, as if considering its words.
"But that black box you call ’Envi’... It possesses a soul. Just like you."
My breath hitched.
"A soul...?"
I had always suspected that Envi was more than just a system, but hearing it confird sent a chill down my spine.
Unlike any ordinary system, Envi had a personality, emotions, and even an ego. He acted like a real person, not just a tool created for assistance. But still—this revelation was beyond my expectations.
The voice continued.
"This is an extrely rare occurrence—one body, two souls. Because of this anomaly, we have decided to seal him away for now."
Another voice laughed, this one filled with clear amusent.
"Hahaha! That noisy black box is currently sealed in another dinsion. He keeps whining about wanting to see you—it’s quite hilarious! But we cannot allow him to interfere with your trial."
My fists tightened.
Envi... had been taken away.
Sealed.
The thought of him calling out for —struggling to break free—made sothing boil inside .
Before I could dwell on it further, another voice spoke.
"Tell us, Child of Fate... What exactly is that thing? We have never seen sothing like it before—not in any human."
Their question was sharp, direct. They wanted answers.
I couldn’t afford to tell them the truth.
I didn’t trust them yet.
Revealing that Envi was a gift from the Goddess of Benevolence could put him in even more danger.
I needed to be careful.
"I... don’t know," I said slowly, choosing my words wisely.
"He has always been with since the day I was born into this world. He’s more than just a system—he’s like my brother. My other half."
A long silence followed.
Then, the voice that had asked the question let out a thoughtful hum.
"How strange... The ’Child of Fate’ should only be one person. And yet..."
It trailed off, as if in deep thought.
"Well... Perhaps we shall uncover the truth later."
For now, they seed to accept my answer.
With that matter settled, they began to explain the details of the hero’s trial.
There were three stages to the Hero’s Trial.
The first trial was ant to determine my worthiness as a hero.
"Every hero candidate must undergo this fundantal test. It will asure your resolve and perseverance."
However, they didn’t go into much detail.
Sothing about the way they spoke made suspect that this wasn’t just a simple test.
Then, they added sothing else—sothing that caught my attention imdiately.
"A true hero does not rely solely on magic. One must also harness the power of aura to its fullest potential."
Aura.
My eyes widened in realization.
This first trial... would directly affect my aura level.
And that ant—
This was a power-up trial.
If I succeeded, I would undergo a significant increase in aura strength—sothing that was absolutely necessary for fighting against high-ranking demons.
It made sense.
The strongest warriors in this world—Patriarch, Cain, Serena, King Leon, and even Sir Godvrey—had all reached the Supre Level of Aura Force.
If I wanted to stand among them—if I wanted to defeat the most powerful demons—I needed to reach that level too.
The voices continued, explaining the second trial in detail.
It was a test where I would receive a divine blessing, a power granted by the gods themselves, aligned with my natural attributes.
At first, it sounded like an incredible opportunity. A power bestowed directly by the gods—what warrior wouldn’t want that?
But then, a wave of unease washed over .
Why?
Because my magic was Dark Magic.
Would the gods even acknowledge ? Or would they reject entirely?
A part of feared the worst.
Would the gods consider unworthy? Would they strip of my right to be a hero because I wielded an elent that had long been associated with demons?
And then—the voices said sothing even more intriguing.
"During the second trial, you will uncover the truth about us."
The truth?
So that ant...
I would et them in person.
These mysterious voices that had been speaking to —these beings who seed to possess godlike power—I would finally see them with my own eyes.
But before I could dwell on it further, they moved on to the final stage of the trial.
The third and last trial—the most difficult of them all.
"We cannot tell you the details," one of the voices said. "But know this—at this final stage, you will face a great choice that will change everything."
A great choice?
What kind of decision would I have to make?
Would it be about my future as a hero?Or would it be sothing even bigger than that?
The uncertainty made my stomach twist.
And then—
A voice spoke up in an eerily casual tone.
"Ahh, and one more thing... If you fail any part of the Hero’s Trial, you will never see that black box you call Envi again."
My heart stopped.
"What?!"
The words hit like a thunderbolt.
I whipped my head upward, glaring into the empty void above.
"What do you an?! Are you saying you’ll take Envi away if I fail?!"
The voice remained calm.
"That is correct. Envi is an existence that should not be in this world."
A cold chill ran down my spine.
An existence that shouldn’t be in this world? What did that even an?
Envi had always been with . He wasn’t just so artificial system—he had thoughts, emotions, and a personality of his own.
I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palm.
"You bastards..." I growled through gritted teeth.
I refused to let that happen.
I refused to lose Envi.
"I swear on my life—I will pass this damned trial! Just you watch!"
The voices chuckled.
"Very well, Child of Fate. Then let the trial begin."
Trial of Aura – Comnce!
Without warning, an enormous magic circle appeared beneath , pulsating with a blinding light.
The intricate runes and symbols glowed with a brilliance so intense that it felt as if the entire realm was shifting.
And then—
The magic circle rushed toward , swallowing whole.
For a mont, everything went black.
I felt as if I were floating in an endless void.
Then—
A voice echoed all around .
"Welco... to the Trial of Aura."
Suddenly, the darkness shattered.
A wave of golden energy exploded around , and I found myself standing on an endless white plain.
The ground beneath wasn’t solid—it was made of pure energy, flowing like liquid light. Above , the sky was an endless canvas of shifting stars.
But what truly caught my attention was what lay ahead.
A single monolithic structure stood in the distance, radiating an overwhelming presence.
A massive gate—so tall that it seed to pierce the heavens. It was decorated with symbols, their anings unknown to , but I could feel the power emanating from them.
Then, as if responding to my presence, the gate began to open.
A terrifying pressure slamd into , forcing to my knees.
It was as if an entire mountain had been dropped on my shoulders.
"This... is insane..." I muttered, struggling to breathe.
The air itself was heavy, filled with an unimaginable force.
Then—
Sothing stepped through the gate.
My body froze.
They were monsters covered in dazzling golden light, and they looked extrely powerful!
It was unlike anything I had ever sensed before.
Then, a voice—one far stronger than all the others—spoke.
"Prove your worth, Child of Fate."
And in that mont—
I knew.
The first trial had begun.
