They noticed us approaching and quickly made space. I hurried inside the house and saw Shein lying in bed while her mother knelt beside her, crying. The mayor was also there, his face filled with sorrow.
I placed Bokkon on the ground and approached Shein. As I got a closer look, I was shocked—her face, hands, and legs were covered in deep cracks.

She smiled gently and spoke

Her body began to fade.
I tried to extend my vines to catch her—but there were no vines. Instead, I saw hands. Human hands.
I was confused. I touched my face—it was... a human face.
