With the jackpot's extra tiers giving extra points, I had 5 new gene points in total to spend on morphotypes. Not 7, because the enhanced attribute genes didn't count for the gene points.
Too bad.
I started with my personal morphotype. At this point, the Advisers waited for to finish investing gene points in curious and sowhat reverent silence. Worriesgone pulled out a clean sheet of paper, bit the end of her coal pen, then began slowly writing sothing.
Unable to help my curiosity, I listened to her thoughts a bit.
'The celebration will have Father's grand appearance… Oh, he can ride a dragon! But only for a while, so the dragon doesn't overshadow him. Hm-hm-hm-hm…'
I smiled to myself a little and returned to the points.
Of course, I added 'Improved Aerial Evasion' to the list. The 'Protective Scales' forced to think a little.
'How *bad* would they look? I already have thick skin…' I glanced at Ambrosia, who was watching at this mont.
Our eyes t. She raised her eyebrows in a silent question.
'It doesn't matter. For my girls, I will be the most handso guy no matter what,' I realized. 'Might as well grow all the useful stuff I need!'
So I added scales and still had plenty of points to put into fire breathing and other stuff.
At which point I began hesitating between the shootable stinger and fire breathing upgrades. They were both incredible genes. My stinger, with all the upgrades I put into it, was amazing…
Fire was less deadly overall, but fewer creatures had developed defenses against it. However, the collateral damage when using it was also a concern.
In the end, I put most of my free points into the shootable stinger upgrade, and only keep 3 points in fire breathing. This amount of fire either would be enough, or the enemy will be too powerful to fight alone, anyway.
This ant I had 'Shootable Stinger VII'. The description read, "allows shooting the stinger to a distance of 3000 ters."
A thousand ters!
This gave a built-in gun! Even for a human, 3 kiloters was far—perhaps a range of a good stone toss. From this distance, a human definitely won't be able to track as I move. Probably won't even be able to see !
Finally, I saved the morphotype, and felt the changes wash over .
There was a new awareness of a muscle sowhere in my innards, and a feeling almost like a heartburn—thankfully, it settled a mont later.
Then, my body itched all over. As I scratched, skin-colored scales covered everywhere I could see! Each of them was the size of a pea (and not a giant pea, just a pea), smooth and slightly soft.
Exactly 5% of a defense boost, indeed.
And it all went right to my status. Especially the fire breathing part!

I had even more charges to watch after now. I hoped they won't get out of hand as ti goes by.
"Father, are those *the* scales?" Tabletina asked suddenly, leaning closer to and squinting. "They are really almost invisible. I hope I can get a test subject to run tests regarding their protectiveness as soon as possible."
"Since right now I'm the only possible test subject… Patience, Tabletina, patience!" I wagged my finger at her and she pulled back with a slight pout. "Bloodhero, as the Military Adviser, I hope you advise on the best stuff for our soldiers, as usual. But I'm fairly convinced that the Beemarines need a little bit of shootable stingers to go with their venom. Or… a massive bit of shootable stingers."
Bloodhero's eyes flashed.
"The Beemarines have weaker venom than you, Father, but they have numbers to compensate for it. If they can shoot their stingers like you do, they will be able to out-venom anything that didn't develop complete immunity. And for the rest, we still have line soldiers. They can pour fire onto anything that still moves."
The non-morphotyped bees, by this point, mostly ca from sub-hives. With the better gene inheritance the bees from sub-hives could theoretically be morphotyped, but practically speaking, since it required my physical presence, I only had ti to spread my morphotyping pheromones only in the closest sub-hives.
So it was good to have the third tier of Fire Breathing in the main gene line.
"Sounds like a good plan, Bloodhero. And as for the Beehounds…"
