Inside a dark room where the only source of light was the candles lit at the center of the room, there were four people sitting on top of a circular formation that looked like it was drawn on top of of an already existing star formation. Both overlapped. Making the formation look mysteriousand ominous. Four candles in the four points of the star.

At the center is a bowl half filled with water.

A family of three sat infront of an ancient looking shan who was sitting while inclined on his shaft with a skull at the top.

The shan wore many ornants and thick clothes. While the family of three wore normal clothes. All of them wore black ukata.

The shan was was looking at the little boy with a smile that made the boy unease but he tried to make it. His excitent and curiosity beating his fear.

Today was the day he will know what his Bloodline is!

"kkkk~ Give your hand boy."

The shan said with a creepy laugh that revealed his almost toothless mouth. The cautiously looked at his parents, as if saying if it was ok.

"It’s ok Carico. Extend your hand. You wanna know what your Bloodline is no?"

Getting his mother’s assurance, Carico slowly nodded and slowly extended his small hand towards the shan.

The shan abruptly caught it and jurked it forward and held it on top of the bowl of water.

"kkkk~ we don’t have all day boy! Khuahaha!"

The shan then took out a pitch black needle needle from inner part of his rob. The needle was so dark that it seed to be devouring light itself.

He then used the needle to peirce Carico’s index finger. Carico flinched in sudden pain and instinctively tried to pull back his hand but the shan held tight.

He put away the needle and started to squeeze Carico’s finger to draw out blood quicker. A brop of red blood ford at the tip of Carico’s finger. Shan flipped his and the the drop feel into the water.

Carico and his parents watched in anticipation. Carico’s watched with his hear hamring in nervousness, anticipation and slight fear. Tiem seed slow to him as the drop of blood slowly feel.

Drip~

The blood fell into the water, it rippled once and beca still again. The blood slowly devolved.

"kkkk-khaahaha!!"

The shan practically had his face buried in the bowl while laughing creepily. His eyes wide as he watched the blood particles devolve slowly.

The shan abruptly grabbed the bowl, stood up in lightning speed and started to chugg down the water.

Carico recoiled in fear written all over his face.

"KUAHAHAHAHAHAHA-HAHA-KKKKGHUAAAAAKHUKHU!!!"

The shan threw the bowl away and started laughing hysterically. His head was tilted back as saliva sprouted out of his mouth and fell back on his face.

"MARVELOUS!! AARVELOUS!!! AN ANOMALY!!! KHUAHAHAHA!!! WHAT A GREAT DAY TO BE ALIVE!!! KKKAHAHA!!!"

The shan abruptly fell forward. He was on all four, looking at Carico with wide eyes and wide smile.

"You have no Bloodline boy... KHUAHAHAHAH!!!!"

The shan said then laughing again, the disgusting sll of his mouth made Carico ritch, mind spin but the most devastating blow was what the shen said.

’I have no Bloodline?’

Such words, sounded impossible and foreign at the sa ti. How could he doesn’t have any Bloodline when everyone in this world has?

His parents had a similar expression. Never in their life had they thought that there could be anyone without any Bloodline. A concept so alien that it made their heart spin just thinking about it.

Most devastated was Carico himself. Ti blurred to him. His parents and the shan talk a lot, but none of it registered into his mind. By the ti he regained his senses, he already going ho. Walking under the moonless night. The muddy road sinking slightly with every step. All of them were quite.

The next few days were blur of silence and agonising realisation of the truth. Carico never felt so excluded in his life. Although he didn’t understand why Bloodline was so important, but seeing the village elders do cool stuff with their Bloodlines were certainly a novel experience for Carico. He wanted to do those stuff too.

But it wasn’t the fact that he couldn’t do those things that hurt the most, but the change in his parents gaze. Everyday, his parents would co late and their gaze will have a subtle change in them. Carico couldn’t understand what. But that terrified him more than anything.

He tried to put on a brave smile, thinking that they maybe sad because he couldn’t do cool stuff and was sad because of that, which in turn made them sad as well.

But that wasn’t the case, whenever he approached his parents, they had this look of unease that were never there in his loving parents. Whenever he tried to hug his mother, she would separate from him slowly then give so excuse and walk away, almost running.

They seed... terrified of sothing... of him.

Carico didn’t want to admit it. Just thinking about itade his chest ache like it was about to collapse inward.

Days passed in a blur.

One day, his parents suddenly planned a trip to city. Carico’s heart was filled with joy.

City.

A place he only heard in stories from the elders. And a chance to nd his decaying relationship with his parents.

Carico was excited then ever. The world finally felt colourful again. Everything felt... normal for once.

They left the sa day. They travelled to the nearest train station. They travelled by old man Takashi’s Gowbur carriage.

The Gowbur was cool looking animal. That looked like a normal cow but is bigger, stronger, faster. Multiple gorns crowning its head, scales of multiple colur growing on its back.

They zood throw the muddy road extrely fast. Wind blasting off in Carico’s ears. Carico felt exhilarated. Never in his life had he travelled his fast.

They arrived at the station after a journey of little over one hour.

The station was quite. It was made out of wood. It radiated heavy feeling of old, ancient structure. Carico waited at the entrance for his parents while looking around.

They paid the old man before walking in the station. Carico followed suit. The oppressive feeling of ti getting heavier.

The interior was clean. Polished. As if unaffected by the passing of ti. Unlike the outside where moss and vines grew by gripping the wall.

Carico waited for his parents to finish talking to the receptionist old man. He looked old. Grumpy like the village chief. He gave one fleeting glance at Carico then got back to his work.

After a while, Carico and his parents waited in the platform for the train to arrive. They on a bench.

Carico was looking at track, turning his head left and right, waiting in anticipation for the train to arrive. Thus will be the first ti he will be seeing a train. And he will definitely brag to his friends when he gets back.

Thinking that, Carico felt a little smug. But at the mont, his heart skipped a bit when he heard an distant sound of horn bussing. Never in his life he heard such a loud horn.

The sound got closer with each interval. Carico looked at his left with wide eyes. His heart beating in fear.

Before long, a black coloured thing with steam coming out from its top ca to Carico’s view. He looked at it with wide eyes. Multitudes of emotions passing through him.

The thing got bigger and bigger as it ca closer. Few Monts Later, it stopped infront of him. He looked at the giant thing with mouth and eyes wide open.

He suddenly felt a tug, he looked at his mother who was pulling his hand.

"Is this train mom?"

"Yes."

She said nothing more. Carico didn’t ask further either. They entered the train carriage and he followed his parents. There were many people in the train. The carriage was quiet. His parents found an empty spot and all of them sat their.

Carico made himself comfortable beside the window. Looking outside. The distant lone mountain from a mountain range looked kinda funny to him. But he noticed a river flowing from up here. It looked like a silver line between mountains. Fascinating him.

And he noticed another line, it extended from the foot of this mountain and stretch towards the horizon in a straight line. Cutting thorough the dense forest.

Excitent surged, along with the anticipatory fear of the unknown.

The train started to move. Slowly, it caught speed. And before long, they were zooming and coiling around the mountain as the descended.

Ti passed. And in a blink of an eyes, a week passed.

A week of non stop travel. Never in his life had Carico ever felt this bored. First few days were fine, but later days were boring as hell. There was nothing to do. Nothing new to see except for the forest that Never seed to end. There were no one around his age as well. His parents didn’t talk much as well.

They seed tired just of the ti. So he had barely anyone to talk to. The people around him were like hibernating Gowbur. Barely moving.

But today was a bit different. Carico had his face sticking into the glass window, the distant horizon seed a bit different...
