At the noon, after the Combat Test was over, every student waited for the final selection results. Far from the bustling campus, at the center of the teachers offices, an ancient three storey building stood tall. Giving off the aura of an architect, untouched by ti.
The intricate and keen designs on the walls looked as if they were carved yesterday.
On the third floor of the building, inside a massive room, an old man sat on a majestic chair. Many screens glowing infront of him. The curved table infornt of him had many books. The whole room was filled with books on the shelves and ancient Artefacts.
The old man’s long flowing hair and beard turned white, withered by ti. He wore glasses on his face. His serene eyes radiating calm wisdom.
Sunlight poured in through the open window. Faint sounds of gentle wind breeze swiping through the silent room.
Yamamoto Takashi, the Headmaster of the International Hero Academy. And this whole building is his residence and office.
Right now, Headmaster Yamamoto was facing a critical dilemma. He was looking at the data of two Examinees that had flipped the expectations of the Academy Board.
Nocturnis Nightangle Von Moore.
Young master of the Moore Vampire Duke do. A family with a Transcendent-Rank individual. The father of Nocturnis. They were from England.
Nocturnis is hailed as one of the greatest, if not The greatest genius of the modern era. He had countless feats under his na.
’And yet...’
Headmaster turned his focus to another Examinee. Nad Alexander Pluto. Affiliated with the Great Sakamo clan. Origin is from Antarctica, Am city.
But he knew better. He dismissed all the screens with a wave of his hand.
Headmaster silently contemplated. According to the rules, Nocturnis is to be eliminated. But he is a talent the Headmaster is unable to let go. But he can’t disregard opinion of Duke Vincent either.
Headmaster waved his hand and a talisman appeared out of thin air. It floated on the air for a mont before the Headmaster grabbed it and crushed it. Grayish white mist leaked from his clenched fist. The mist moved forward and started to gather infront of the Headmaster.
The light of the room visibly dropped. Even with the open window. As if a vail had been placed on the light of room itself.
The mist morphed into a humanoid figure that sat on the chair infront of the Headmasters table.
"Why have you called Headmaster Yamamoto?"
The avatar of Duke Vincent spoke in an authoritative voice.
"Your son failed."
The Headmaster said flatly. There was a pause for a mont.
"And the cause?"
"He was defeated by another Examinee."
Another pause.
This ti a bit longer. As if the Duke was contemplating how to feel. Headmaster stapled his hand on the table. His gaze fixed on the the misty avatar of the Duke.
"I see... and who is this new individual?"
The Duke said after a while.
"Alexander Pluto. He is afflicted with the Great Sakamo clan."
"Where is his origin?"
"Antarctica. Am city."
"...Am city?"
There was another pause.
Silence fell into the room once again. The Headmaster was waiting for the Dukes answer and prepared so argunts for persuasion, just in case he said that child Nocturnis will not attend Academy anymore.
Headmaster also deliberately ntioned the Sakamo clan. In case the cold blooded vampire Duke tried to harm the child nad Alexander.
No matter how strong of a Transcendent Duke Vincent was, the Sakamo clan was greater. They kept Transcendents like him as pocket change. And they had several Legendary-Rank individuals in their ranks. With few Half-Mythical-Rank Ancestors sleeping in their Ancestorial ground.
Unless Duke has truly gone crazy, he won’t dare to harm the child.
So, he waited. And the Duke finally responded after a while of contemplation.
"What else there is known about him?"
The Duke said with a condescending tone. The Headmaster frowned his brows in displeasure.
The mont he did, the room lit up golden. The runes itched on room ad defence chanism activating at pull power.
The Formation tried its best to hold and protect the furniture also preventing the Headmasters aura from leaking outside. But in still cracked in places. The room shuddered faintly.
The misty avatar swiped violently side to side, as if it may disappear any mont.
"I’m not your servant boy."
The Headmaster said, then relaxed. The room turned back to normal. The Defence Formation stayed still, as if paranoid that the oppressive wave will co again. But it never did. The Formation healed itself through Natural Energy in the air before disappearing.
The Dukes avatar ca back to normal again. Then nodded.
"Yes. Right. That was my bad. Forgive . There are so matters that is constantly keeping at edge."
"So, Duke Vincent, what do you want to do about your son? He clearly perford well. If not for the child, Alexander, he would have surly made it into the first place."
The Headmaster said as he waved his hand. Clearly not believing the excuse.
"You will allow him to pass into the next round?"
"Yes. He has a great talent. Worth nurturing."
"Then. I will have to ask you for a favour."
The Headmaster finally smiled and nodded. Clearly pleased.
"If that’s all, I shall take my leave. I need to focus on few important matters."
Headmaster just nodded and the avatar disappeared. The room brightened visibly. As if a curtain had been lifted.
Headmaster leaned back on his throne like chair. Looking out of the massive window. His expression unreadable.
After a long while. He pulled up few screens and notified the Exam Committee that Nocturnis Nightangle Von Moore will be advancing to the Third round.
He closed the screens. Then opened one of the drawer and pulled out a letter dated four months back.
The letter had the Antarctic desert stamp and the sender was Preganos Am.
Headmaster opened the letter read for the 57th ti. But this ti with newfound understanding.
The contents of the letter was anything but complex. Easy to understand even. But Headmaster had failed to grasp the weight previously but now he did.
[Cowaresis appeared. With a boy nad Alexander Pluto. I can’t see anything about him. Beware when he cos to your Academy.]
That was it.
Previously, he couldn’t understand what the Seer of Unseeable ant by he couldn’t see. And why would he even worry about a newly arrived Lost One... but now he did. Clearly.
The Headmaster released a breath he didn’t know was holding. He leaned back and looked out of the window. Deep in thought.
"... Is this the vector Cowaresis indicated...?"
He murmured absent mindedly...
