Chapter 42: Nightmares (2)

Azeth sighed, shook his head, and sighed again, all while the silhouettes erged from the vapors.

He then raised his hand and glanced at the ground below. His legs bent and his right arm pulled back.

Just then, a powerful punch landed on the ground right below him.

A gust of wind erged. It burst forth from the point of impact as the focus and spread rapidly.

All the steam blew away, and all the silhouettes joined each other in flying as far away as possible.

"Aaaarrrghhhh!"

"Aaaahhhh!!!"

"Dammitttt!!!"

Screams echoed through the forest and into the ears of the Shaman, whose eyes had brightened even more.

"What? Are you enraged? Do you finally feel like fighting ? Hmm? Or do you still want to hide behind those weaklings again?"

He heard a voice. A weird mixed voice, the kind he’d once heard within the dungeon and couldn’t pinpoint the location of.

"Weaklings...?"

It was supposedly a question directed at Azeth, but not ant for the Shaman.

And that beca clear through her actions.

The goblins who had been flung away rose again.

But this ti, Azeth could feel that sothing about them had changed.

Their bodies were glowing with a faint green light, the sa way the staff’s crystal glowed.

The scratches and other minor wounds like ulcers, abrasions, and whatnot were healed instantly.

They jumped forward the mont that happened.

Azeth was surprised this ti.

While they actively avoided Lake’s body, which now felt like an obstacle to them, their speed was still top-notch.

If Azeth had paid any less attention, then he might have missed them.

Their nails were chipped but sturdy this ti. Their teeth were dented, but just enough reinforced to damage his scales.

Azeth didn’t have much experience in fights, and he almost dismissed this as a trivial, useless retrial of the sa tactics.

Except his scales showed cracks, and he did feel pain.

Especially since so attacks were aid at his eyes, mouth, and abdon that weren’t covered with scales.

Azeth was surrounded by eight goblins, five of which had bitten onto his shoulders, arms, and tail.

Three others had dared to try and put a hole in his abdon.

He noticed the faint cracks on his scales and tried to jump out of the situation.

But the goblins were quite stubborn and tenacious.

They held on tightly as he jumped high into the air. His arms were small in the first place, and now he couldn’t even move them properly.

He wanted to pull them out by grabbing their heads and chucking them to the ground.

He was able to do that.

First, he shook off the goblins that held his arms tightly.

His mouth was free.

He opened it wide and conjured black flas. As the temperature rose for a mont, the goblins imdiately close to his mouth let him go in a flinch.

That was enough.

His hands were free, and now he grabbed them one by one and tossed them from midair to the ground.

What he expected was a loud crash and for them to beco immobile. That would have resolved the issue and the annoyance.

Nothing of that sort happened.

The Shaman used one of the skills in its arsenal to cause the goblins to levitate.

It also seemingly absorbed all the impact they might have felt while colliding with the ground.

Azeth landed on the ground before the goblins did, and only after that did the goblins co down one by one.

He realized that the goblins had been given a boost of so sort.

So he changed his target instantly.

"You bastard!" He raised his gaze to locate and attack the Shaman.

But...

The Shaman vanished along with the unscathed barrier.

In just the blink of an eye, the Shaman was directly behind him.

The Shaman had ford a fist with her hands and aid at Azeth’s back.

A gust of wind started to blow, but before Azeth could fly away, he twisted his body just enough and extended his arm.

It was just short enough to grab the Shaman’s hand.

With the gust of the wind, he was flung away for sure, but he wanted to make sure he pulled the Shaman toward him so that midair he could strike back.

But it was a pity... a pity that the Shaman’s gloves ca off, and he was flung alone while holding the gloves in his hand.

He was heading straight toward the gigantic tree that stood before the entrance gate.

Bam!

He collided with the tree and was stuck in the bark for a few seconds. He then tried his best and pulled his arms out, then his body, only to land on the ground.

When he turned back, he could see an imprint of himself on the tree.

He gritted his teeth. This was absolutely shaful, and he wanted to turn the situation around.

But just then... he felt a presence.

He turned right just after the Shaman turned left, only to see silhouettes in the bare minimum light of the moon.

The goblins were ready to strike these intruders and Azeth as well when they learned what he’d done.

But even they paused.

Everyone did, especially when they saw Azeth visibly trembling and banging his fist on the ground in frustration.

Then he raised his head but, with a lowered gaze, said in an apologetic and respectful tone,

"Forgive , master... senior... I’ve failed you."

He had sensed Pebbles’, Nightstone’s, and Azatoth’s presence, but he didn’t dare question anything at the mont.

The figures that were approaching were them, and hence the change in his attitude.

The goblins only turned toward the figures to see who his master was.

Except all of them lowered their heads and gazes instantly.

Their bodies were trembling visibly, so much so that one might mistake it for an earthquake.

Then Azatoth noticed and said,

"You were right, master. There’s the Sha—"

Even he paused in his tracks.

He couldn’t complete his sentence as he noticed the bizarre scene.

The Shaman was now on its legs, bowing with genuine gratitude.

"This humble follower greets the Supre One."

Azatoth couldn’t, even in his worst nightmare, imagine the Shaman doing this.

But when he heard this, he couldn’t help but turn toward his master, who stood confidently.

As if realization struck him, he lowered himself instantly and said the sa.

"I greet the Supre One."

"We greet the Supre One!"

"WE GREET THE SUPRE ONE!"

The words echoed through the entire forest.

And the only being who was supposed to be the center of this... was imnsely confused.

’What the fuck?’
