She drove here by herself.

After all, this is the ancestral shrine of the Hawthorne Family, and outsiders are not allowed inside. She didn’t want too many people to know either.

Who knew that before she even got out of the car, she started sneezing.

"Is the air conditioning temperature too low?"

Mumbling, Raine turned off the engine, took her bag, and opened the door to get out.

Silas saw her from a distance and enthusiastically ca to greet her, "Raine, why did you drive here yourself? Are you tired?"

Raine froze for a mont. Silas used to be quite nice to her, but now it seed there was a touch of caution.

Having an elder treat her like this made Raine feel sowhat uneasy.

She imdiately said, "Grandma Linton, I wasn’t angry about what happened last ti. It’s all in the past, from now on..."

"From now on, you are also my granddaughter!" Silas took over the conversation and led Raine into the shrine.

The relatives of the Hawthorne Family had co by in the morning, and most had already left by now. Silas had specially cleared the place for Raine.

She was worried that too many people would gossip and make Raine unhappy.

Raine frowned slightly, clearly hearing Silas refer to her as a granddaughter, not a granddaughter-in-law...

Did this an that Silas had already let it go in her heart?

While thinking, the two of them had already stopped in front of the morial tablets of the Hawthorne Family.

Raine looked up and quickly found the na Derek Hawthorne among them.

"Light an incense stick for him. Grandma will wait for you outside," Silas said, handing Raine the incense. She then spoke to Derek’s morial tablet, "Old man, Raine is here to see you. Have a good chat."

After saying that, she turned around and left.

In fact, a significant reason Silas called Raine back this ti was because of Derek Hawthorne.

He liked Raine Sinclair during his lifeti and strongly supported the marriage.

Now that the children had divorced, he should be inford of this.

Raine heard the creak of the door closing behind her before she took two steps forward and lit the incense stick on a nearby candle.

The fla spread quickly, flickered, and extinguished, and wisps of white smoke imdiately rose.

After offering incense to Derek, Raine pondered for a mont before speaking. "Grandpa Hawthorne, this is Raine. I’ve co to see you."

In her mory, Grandpa Hawthorne was always confined to bed.

He wasn’t in good spirits, but every ti he saw Raine, he’d perk up and had even given several quiet parcels of the Hawthorne Family estate—each priceless—into her na.

After the divorce, the properties were returned.

Thinking of this, Raine’s nose tinged with a slight bitterness as she continued, "Actually, Jonas and I divorced half a month ago."

The originally sweet voice was now choked with sobs, slowly diffusing into every corner of the shrine.

No one answered her, except for a cool breeze lifting a few strands of hair by her temple.

The incense in front of Derek Hawthorne’s morial burned slowly.

The rising white smoke disappeared into the air, leaving no trace...

"I’m sorry, Grandpa Hawthorne," Raine choked, deeply bowing toward Derek Hawthorne’s morial.

Rembering Grandpa Hawthorne’s love for her, Raine’s heart filled with indescribable sorrow.

If it were possible, everyone would wish for a lifelong commitnt...

Unfortunately, reality is that cruel.

So people’s love is lost to money, and so people’s love is lost to an ex...

At this mont, Jonas Hawthorne’s car arrived outside in the courtyard.

From afar, Silas saw it. Already displeased, her expression worsened when she saw Candace Ford getting out next to him—it was as if her face had collapsed into the depths of an abyss.

He really brought that vixen.

Candace saw Silas too. She knew Silas looked down on her, but it didn’t matter; as long as she bore the child and received Jonas Hawthorne’s love, that was enough.

She quickly took two steps forward, staying close to Jonas’s side. Pretending to be pitiful, she quietly asked, "Jonas, should I not have co? Grandma seems not to welco ..."

In reality, Jonas hadn’t intended to bring her. She found out and insisted on coming, crying and throwing a tantrum.

Just like at the gathering with Aaron Jacobs and the others, she insisted on attending.

Later, she ended up in the hospital, and once she could get out, she imdiately started causing trouble again.

Seeing Jonas not answer her, Candace started to sob quietly, "I know I shouldn’t have co, having no title. But I wanted our baby to visit, for Grandpa to know about it... I... wuwuwu!"

She wiped her tears and reached out to touch her belly, making Jonas furrow his brows, "Since you’re here, let Grandpa take a look."

After all, it is the blood of the Hawthorne Family.

Hearing this, Candace finally stopped crying, but still sobbed a few tis.

Seeing her deanor, Silas felt imnse disdain.

"Why did you bring her here?" she asked, her tone unkind.

Jonas replied, "I brought our child to see Grandpa."

"Hmph, even if it’s born, don’t think it can be written into the Hawthorne family tree! Without legitimacy!" Silas scoffed. She looked down on this woman from the bottom of her heart.

She knowingly seduced a married man—so shaless!

If it were her daughter-in-law, she wouldn’t argue with anyone. If it happened to her, she would cause a scene big enough to pierce a hole in the sky, giving the Mistress a lesson in colors!

"Grandma, I..." Candace opened her mouth, aggrieved, and tears poured down like opened floodgates, "Even if you dislike , you must acknowledge your great-grandson! He’s also a descendant of the Hawthorne Family!"

"..." Silas sighed, holding her forehead.

Over the years, she had seen many such vixens and thought she’d beco immune. Who knew that even in old age, they still gave her headaches!

Jonas seed reluctant to witness such a tearful scene, saying, "Grandma, we’ll go inside first."

After speaking, he led Candace forward.

However, just as they were about to step forward, Silas called them to a halt, "Stop! My good granddaughter is inside. Wait for her to co out first!"

Candace was the first to be surprised, "Granddaughter?"

Isn’t Jonas the only grandson of the Hawthorne Family?

Where did this granddaughter co from?

Jonas imdiately realized that Grandma was referring to Raine Sinclair.

He frowned slightly, looking at Candace, with an instinctive urge to take her away.

If Raine saw this, she might misunderstand.

He didn’t even notice that he had already started to fear seeing Raine’s sadness...

However, Candace, being insensitive, saw Silas wasn’t stopping her anymore and quickly took two steps forward, soon arriving at the shrine’s entrance.

At this mont, Raine was confiding in Derek Hawthorne.

"Grandpa Hawthorne, I was already pregnant before the divorce; this is the bloodline of the Hawthorne Family. Although I don’t intend to tell Jonas, this child will always carry the Hawthorne blood. Please bless that he is born safely and grows up safely..."
