"Who among you is willing to travel to Triad Sanctum and retrieve the sacred artifact?"

After the Speaker posed the question, the other councilors exchanged helpless glances.

Kelsey, furrowing his brows, spoke up:

"Speaker, that artifact was borrowed by the forr head of Triad Sanctum, Sergei, at great cost. The agreent was for ten years.

"It has only been three years. If we try to reclaim it early, Sergei and his people will certainly refuse.

"They might even suspect sothing is wrong and interrogate the councilor sent there.

"This could be extrely dangerous."

Kelsey believed this matter needed careful consideration.

The other councilors nodded in agreent.

Though the Tarot Order held a high status in the universe, they were not known for direct combat.

Among those of similar rank, they were one of the weakest in battle.

Sergei, however, was a fearso individual.

Before entering seclusion, he had endured eight waves of Thunder Tribulation,

a terrifying feat that placed him on the verge of ascending to the upper plane universe.

If he targeted the envoy sent to retrieve the artifact,

even the Speaker himself would find it troubleso.

But since the artifact was crucial,

they couldn't just ignore the situation.

They had to find the right person for the task.

After so thought, the Speaker slowly spoke:

"Perhaps we should use the Scarlet Tarot."

The Scarlet Tarot was one of the Tarot Order's sacred artifacts,

capable of peering deeper into fate and even providing the best course of action.

However, activating it would cause one's destiny to be corroded by fate,

leading to a tragic death.

This was the unavoidable price of peering into fate.

The gifts of destiny always ca with a price, marked long before they were granted.

Unless absolutely necessary, the Tarot Order avoided using it.

After all, the consequences were too severe.

Moreover, only the Speaker and the Saintess were qualified to activate it.

Even though the Speaker's health was failing,

the artifact was too important to ignore.

The Scarlet Tarot had to be used.

"Speaker, please reconsider! Your health is already weak—activating the Scarlet Tarot could kill you!"

Kelsey quickly protested.

The other councilors also pleaded with concern:

"Speaker, that artifact is important, but without you, the Tarot Order cannot function!"

Seeing how frail the Speaker was, Sophia suddenly stepped forward and said:

"Speaker, esteed councilors, why don't I try activating the Scarlet Tarot instead?"

"Absolutely not!"

"We cannot allow the Saintess to do this!"

"Your rank has risen quickly, but the backlash from peering into fate this ti will be far too severe—you won't be able to withstand it!"

Kelsey and the others vehently opposed the idea.

They had already treasured Sophia like a rare gem—how could they allow her to suffer harm?

The Speaker also firmly rejected the idea:

"Sophia, your duty is to focus on your studies. Leave this burden to us old n."

Sophia was the future of the Tarot Order—

they couldn't risk even the slightest danger to her.

"Even though you are qualified to activate it, the backlash of fate would kill you instantly."

Sophia wasn't surprised by their rejection.

Taking another step forward, she said firmly:

"Speaker, the backlash of the Scarlet Tarot's fate-weaving magic is indeed terrifying,

"but I have this!"

As she spoke, Sophia activated her Chaos Barrier!

A misty gray fog surged forth,

wrapping around her like a veil of shifting silk.

"...?"

"Chaos Barrier?!"

Seeing the phenonon surrounding Sophia,

the councilors were stunned into silence, their minds going blank.

At just a single glance,

they recognized the Chaos Barrier—

A legendary entity!

For the Tarot Order,

whose mbers constantly peered into fate,

this was the most coveted treasure of all—

a shield against fate's deadly backlash!

Seeing their awestruck faces,

Sophia secretly sneered.

"At least they can recognize the Chaos Barrier.

"But compared to Velen…

"They are still far too lacking."

As Sophia's thoughts swirled,

the Speaker suddenly released his spiritual energy,

carefully examining the Chaos Barrier's effects.

"Sophia, allow to verify its ability to counteract fate's backlash."

Minutes ticked by…

Then ten full minutes passed.

The Speaker's expression changed drastically—

his eyes widened, his mouth gaping open as if he had seen sothing unbelievable!

"Speaker, how powerful is the Chaos Barrier?"

Seeing his reaction, Sophia asked curiously.

The Speaker quickly gathered himself and explained:

"This isn't just a matter of power!"

"You have no idea what fate's backlash truly ans.

"Let tell you—almost no Tarot Order mber has ever died a natural death.

"They all perished because of fate's counterattack."

"In fact, for many… death was a rcy.

"The afflictions caused by fate's retribution are beyond comprehension."

"My own life is nearing its end.

"Each ti I gaze into fate, I shave away what little remains of my lifespan.

"But you… you are different.

"You have the Chaos Barrier.

"It shields you from the vast majority of fate's retribution.

"Sophia, you were born to be the ultimate oracle of the Tarot Order!"

With that, he imdiately led Sophia to the council chamber,

where a deck of blood-red tarot cards lay upon an altar.

With unprecedented solemnity,

he personally handed the Scarlet Tarot to her.

"Since you have the Chaos Barrier,

"this will serve as both a trial for you and a ans to preserve my own life.

"Finding a suitable candidate to retrieve the artifact…

"Will now be your responsibility."

Then, the Speaker turned to glare at Kelsey and the other councilors.

"When it truly matters, it is the Saintess who steps forward.

"From today onward, the will of Sophia is my will.

"The Tarot Order is fully open to her command.

"And you all shall support her unconditionally!"

Kelsey and the others imdiately agreed.

Sophia might still be young, and her rank not yet high,

but her mastery of the Eye of Fate was unparalleled,

and with the Chaos Barrier,

her future was beyond imagination.

Sophia glanced around at the councilors,

feeling more convinced than ever—

Velen is too powerful.

Just a single Chaos Barrier…

"and they have completely changed their attitude toward !"

Even more amusing—

They're absolutely desperate to possess the Chaos Barrier themselves.

And yet, Velen had handed it to her so casually,

as if it were a aningless trinket!

"Velen is too generous… and too unfathomable."

Under the intense gazes of the council,

Sophia's forehead glead—

a symbol of the Eye of Fate erging.

At the sa ti, the Scarlet Tarot began to move—

spinning around her like fluttering butterflies.

The councilors held their breath.

Screech!

Suddenly—

A horrific, twisted force of fate lashed out!

It sought to devour Sophia's life force—

a punishnt for daring to defy fate!

But—

The Chaos Barrier surged forth—

And the attack… vanished.

Seeing this,

the Speaker and the councilors felt relief wash over them.

"Normally, we could do nothing but endure fate's wrath…"

"But Sophia's Chaos Barrier… actually repels it!"

Minutes passed,

until only a single tarot card remained.

Sophia opened her eyes.

"What did you see?"

The Speaker asked imdiately.

Sophia frowned slightly in thought,

then slowly said:

"According to the Scarlet Tarot's guidance…

"The most suitable person to retrieve the artifact…

"Is ."
